I like that the start and select buttons have been moved (somewhere...) I still hit them accidentally on occasion.

I'm a very average player and i enjoy being average. I'm pretty good at almost every song on medium but the jump in difficulty from Medium to Hard is just freaking ridiculous in GH3. On top of adding much more notes they ramp up the speed by alot and they add the orange button to boot!
I can finish maybe a dozen songs from GH3 on hard and that's it. Thats my one complaint about GH3 that i hope World Tour will fix. And it's also the only thing i like more about Rock Band. Their Hard mode is much more easier to learn and adapt when going from medium to hard. Hell i can even do some songs on expert! i'm not asking for a really easy Hard mode but for christ sake can they make it a lil more progressive instead of a huge leap in difficulty. My suggestion would be to make the hard mode almost like the medium except you add that orange button and just SLIGHTLY make it faster. Keep the Expert mode for the experts! But i don't mind THAT much since i still have alot of fun playing the songs on medium. I know it's not cool to admit that you don't do every single song on expert but whatever. :D |
If GH: Aerosmith is any indication, the difficulty of WT should be a lot more in line with RB than GHIII.

GH3 was freaking rediculous. I need 2 songs on expert in RB, and if it wasn't for Crazy On You, I could probably coast through expert on GH2, but I can't even get to the last 2 set-lists on Hard in GH3. I have a whopping 85 achievement points on GH3...freaking 85 since launch week.
|
GH: A is fine, but the slant of the fretboard is horrible, makes the notes seem faster than they are, I can't play it for too long without getting a headache. RB I can play for hours though.

I don't know what you're all griping about, GH3 was cake.

GHIII is hard for sure but that adds to the fun and replayability . Just keep practicing. I know I when I first started these kind of games I thought I would never get past medium. I now can 5 star most songs on hard (have beaten all but Lou) and have passed 75% on expert. You'll get there.

Decided to toss in Halo 3 instead, and ended up having a fucking fantastic night, upping my overall level by 5(to a current high, 29). I only play about once a week so that made up for the crappy hour I wasted on GH. |
Michael Corvin, you crack me up...:D2:, I am still having 360 overheat issues w/GHIII/A so can only play GHII! Like someone else on this board, I never thought I could get passed medium...but like the little train that could.....I finally figured out that orange button thing....:rock2: I love HALO 3, I rank at about a 27......but about a freaking year ago...my brother-in-law spent a week with us and ran my rank up to a 42... So for the past year, I've been playing with a bunch of badasses who constantly ridicule me for sucking!!! whats worse.....is getting on a team that wins!! soooooo...I don't play as much as I would like to....last time I played....I think that I whittled my rank down to a 32..:hairpull: .....It sucks getting the lowest kills in every game........damn! it's late....must go to bed.....must go to work tomorrow...

Wrong thread, but there isn't a way to whittle your rank down. Your overall rank is still going to be 42. I know amongst most players mid-high 20's is average, maybe a little above average, but I'm fine with that. One of my friends is a 35 and we are always getting matched up with level 35-40+ people. I'm fine being in the 20s. :) They are getting ready to reset/redo the leveling though, but don't get your hopes up, I believe your overall rank stays while everything else goes.

Oooo, Halo ranking talk is back!

Practice. And practice the small details. If there is a chord youre missing constantly or a shift you cant handle, practice hitting it until you can. I imagine more than anything rabbit has passion and patience rather than purely a God given talent. I popped in GH:A earlier to try to continue my Expert career. Fucking Back in the Saddle knocked me out at 95% - three times. I said fuck that and popped in GHIII to see where I left off. Raining Blood on hard is the only thing between me and Lou and apparently it's going to remain that way until the end of time. Same with Welcome to the Jungle on expert. Grrr... Expert Jungle wasnt much of an issue. Where are you having trouble there? Before I Forget, 3s&7s, KoC, have me pinned down currently. Stricken is 3 starred. |
For those who were curious, it was IGN a day or two ago that the Metallica DLC this Friday (the new album) is 17.99 AND it is forward-compatible with GH:WT. So, the good news being that if you are playing GH:III like myself, you can buy the Metallica stuff this Friday and you will NOT have to buy it again to play the drums, bass, and vocals next month when World Tour comes out.
Good news (for some, anyway). |

Yeah, there is definitely a big difference in charting. I finished TKAR on expert in RB, but can't finish Back in the saddle which isn't near as hard. What's even crazier is I did Cult of Personality and five starred it on my first try(my previous high was 3 stars) last night. This is the song immediately preceeding Raining Blood which is 10x more difficult.
My problem is that I play for fun. I don't want to practice over and over again. If I don't finish a song in 2-3 tries I'll put it aside and come back later to try again to see if I get lucky or if I've improved playing chords/shifting in other songs. |
Hey fun is fun! Having fun is most important really.
One part of GH3's fun factor for me is the feeling I get when I beat a once impossible song after days of practice. Your method should work it will just take longer. I cant tell you how many times I have played thru My Curse on Expert and Im still missing alot but its passable. And learning to pass this song helps in others. But each song has a skill you need in order to beat the next so in all likelihood you should be able to beat every song if you keep on playin' and passing the previous. |
The export feature on Rock Band makes me wish that GH2/3 songs could be exported into World Tour (with the drum/vocal charts added of course).

They may be keeping this a secret until launch or something that will happen after launch. But I suspect with all the licensing issues its not going to happen or if it does not every song will make it. |
Harmonix retains rights to the songs from GH2. As such, they would only be able to use songs from GH3 and GH:A.
|
Rolling Stone confirms more GH:WT songs.
Dream Theater - “Pull Me Under” Filter - “Hey Man Nice Shot” NOFX - “Soul Doubt” Rise Against - “Re-Education (Through Labor)” Steve Miller - “The Joker” The Answer - “Never Too Late” The Stone Roses - “Love Spreads” Trust - “Anti-Social” Wings - “Band on the Run” |
Looks like that last leaked list was pretty spot on.
|
Man, I can't WAIT for Pull Me Under.
|
I'm surprised they haven't been making a big deal out of Wings.
