Yes! That is such a cheap move. It was teleporting constantly for me (on easiest) last night. It was kind of funny to see me keep running back and forth across the screen.

I think that I wouldn't mind his teleport so much if he didn't laugh every time he did it.

I totally agree. Sadly, no review I've read makes any real mention of the movie (if at all).

I finally unlocked Gouken last night and holy crap does he kick some serious ass. Probably my favorite 'new' player aside form Crimson Viper.

I'm almost done beating the game with all the characters, and man some of the stories are lame. The guys involved in the main story with Seth are cool like Ryu, Bison, Guile, or Chun-Li, but man Blanka's or Zangief are terrible.

So how do you beat Seth? I've been playing him 20 times with Ryu and beat him easily the first time but the next rounds are so damn "cheap". He throws sonic booms and then when you jump at him, he does a uppercut. If you get too close he has Dhalsim's long arm and when you are down he teleports and then does Zangief's pile driver on you. He also executes his Ultra move 2 times per round on you.

Only way I can really beat him consecutively, and easily, is by spamming jump kick/sweep. I just unlocked Seth as a character and he is nowhere near as potent as when the CPU uses him. They totally nerf'd him to the point that he's unusable.

And as far as bad endings are concerned. Balrog's, Gen's, El Fuerte's, and Viper's are just about as bad as Blanka and Zangief. In fact, let's just say that all of the endings are bad.

The endings for Street Fighter II for those characters weren't all that great...

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I'm having a love hate relationship with this game, getting whupped by random people online sucks and also doing a search for regular/no points match doesn't work all the time.

But when I just turned on the request while playing arcade, it took me back to the old arcade days when I used to play street fighter ii. Now mind you I'm not that great at this game, but it's fun just playing against random people for no points and practicing Zangief (1st time player) is hecka fun.

Yeah I pretty much do the same. However i'm playing on easiest/1 round matches just to finish unlocking all the characters.

I haven't gotten to the bottom half players yet outside of the ones necessary to unlock characters. C. Viper's wasn't terrible to me. I just thought some of the character's "stories" were ridiculous.

I'm looking to get an arcade stick for the PS3 version. What's my best/cheapest option?

Might be a bit tough now.

The Madcatz ones that are SFIV branded are supposedly surprisingly good, given the brand. I've heard there are problems with the cheaper sticks (I think they run 59.99) though they are easily modded, and nothing but praise for the Tournament Edition sticks (I think it retailed for around 140). However, these are impossible to find right now, and markups are extreme. The rumor is that Madcatz is producing more, which should come out in the next month or two.

I like the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 (HRAP3), which goes for around 100 bucks (they used to have it at amazon but I think it's sold out now) or more, with the "SF IV launch markup." The arcade stick gurus say that the parts aren't as good but that it's easily modded as well.

Hori also released a Soul Calibur IV arcade stick, but I see that's marked up now too, and is probably harder to find than the HRAP3.

There is a cheaper hori stick, I think it's called the Fighting Stick 3, which retails for 49.99.

If you have a stick for the PS2, you can look for a decent PS2 to usb adapter. These are also surprisingly hard to find... the Pelican one I have isn't sold anymore. Make sure you read reviews on one BEFORE you buy it, though.

Everything will probably be either hard to find or ridiculously marked up, at least until the SFIV hype dies down a little.

edited to add:
Here's SDTekken's reviews of the various converters. I also highly recommend that site for stick reviews/info:

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Ok, so after being able to pretty easily take care of Seth with most of the characters, I've been running into a brick wall with some characters. I don't think I have the PS3 glitch, as it seems to happen only if you've played online before. For instance, yesterday playing through with Sakura, it took me almost an hour to beat him (luckily I paused in the middle and watched some tv with the wife so that I didn't throw my HRAP3 across the room).

Now I know I suck in general and Sakura is not particularly well known to me, but I breezed through every single round with a handful of perfects until Seth. At one point, I threw a fireball when he was right in front of me, and he teleported to the exact same spot he started on to avoid it, and threw me. He also stopped falling for my cheap sweep kicks, using his little multiple kick move to get through it. One round he just kept grabbing me out of any move I threw at him. And if you fall asleep while he's teleporting, he'll teleport behind you and render your block useless. Ugh. I finally learned to jump whenever he was doing his ultra, no matter where I was. I wish they had put in an option to just reload the level with the same character, since going back to the character select screen just lengthened the time between beatings.

Anyway, Dan was the last of the "normal unlockable" characters I needed, but my fear is that in trying to get Gouken or Akuma I'll inevitably lose a round to Seth... need to choose my character wisely.

fujishig - If you're REALLY having problems, you could just use a second controller to "jump in" to save your ass if you're trying to go for Akuma or Gouken. Or just try the easiest difficulty. Seth is pretty much lobotomized on that difficulty.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

this game is sold out on the PS3 all over in my area (Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart, EBgames, HMV, etc), i can't find a copy for the PS3 even to this day.

The CE is another story, can't believe Capcom underestimated the demand for the CE which was the one i'm interested in. I should have pre-ordered but never knew i would have problems finding a game on release date.

For an anticapted game like SF, i thought Capcom would provide many copies.

No, I think Capcom had realistic expectation of how this game would sell. It's just no one thought it would sell as well as it has - it's a genuine surprise.

Yeah, I've had rounds on easiest when Seth will just walk into every crouching roundhouse I put out, and others on easiest where he'll counter everything and destroy me round after round. I have no idea why.

I also have no clue how do perform Sagat's "fake kick," which seems like just two HKs in quick succession. Any hints?

this one took me FOREVER. Basically you just have to pound on the HK button until it happens. I configured all of the buttons to HK and just wailed on the controller until it happened. LOL. The rest of the trials, I simply cannot do. It's the EX cancel and 5 or 6 button combos that are screwing me right now.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

Just got the game this afternoon...been playing mostly online. Holding my own for the most part. Getting my ass kicked by most, but winning enough to keep my self esteem at a high enough level so I don't give up.

I finally unlocked Seth yesterday and yeah, he seems pretty gimped as a user controlled player. His Ultra seems to do far less damage then when the CPU uses him

i returned the PS3 CE copy back to TRU... since i got another copy from GS (using credits). It's rare, but not that hard to get a copy, don't pay scalper prices. Check with GS, a lot of people reserved the game and not picking them up.

Just saw this on Kotaku ... the complete SFIV Training Manual is available as a FREE PDF download from Capcom Unity! Now I need to find me a colour printer and some high grade paper glossy paper ...
