Street Fighter 4 Announced

Surprised this wasn't posted already, but Capcom officially announced Street Fighter 4. Not really any details other then a trailer.

http://www.streetfighterworld.com/

The trailer is pretty slick though... looks kind of like Okami's style.

Yeah, I wonder if this will be a straight to console game, or if it will still have a presence in the arcades, which aren't really that popular anymore.

Aren't arcades still popular in Japan, though?

Awesome. I'm at work, but I can't wait to check out this trailer. SF is one of my favorite franchises ever.

I'm gonna cry now... this is one game i love and hate so much for so long... Finally count up to IV! No more alpha, hyper, super, ultra, world champ....

The Okami styled animation is just the opening i believe, can't wait to see the actual game play. Please let it be a 2D with HD graphic than some fancy 3D shit...

I liked the trailer, but I will hold my judgment till the game is officially revealed.

Ho-le-she-yat! That trailer was awesome. I just hope they don't go the SFIII route and give us a whole new cast w/ Ryu & Ken returning.

I don't mind the return of the old casts at all... E Honda, Guile, Blanka, Chun Li... man, they are all good!

Yeah, there will be new characters, but I hope some of the old characters are brought back and retooled for part 4.

But how would that be any different than what we're getting on Live?

I want to see the series overhauled and all the characters in 3D. This may be blasphemy but I think its inevitable.

I would like to see it taken into 3d, but I am not sure the physics of the game would work properly in a 3d world. The pace of the game would have to change considerably given the way things flow in 3d compared to 2d. It would be interesting though.

They already did Street Fighter in 3D. It sucked and it looked like shit.

Yeap, what PixyJ said... Personally, i don't mind an improved 3D SF game, love to see the characters in HD 3D But for SFIV, let's just stick to 2D...

So did we wait longer for SF3 or SF4? I hoping SF4 is better than 3 turned out to be.

Huh? Just because it's high resolution 2D doesn't mean it would be anything like the upcoming Remix on Live. Unless you also say all the previous Street Fighters from 2 onwards are the same.

I would say they were the same in the way sports games change over the year. Yes, Street Fighter 2 plays and looks nothing like the upcoming Live version but Madden 08 plays nothing like Madden 1995 either.

Exactly... in other words there's plenty of innovation that can be done with a 2D fighter. No need to go 3D.

The upcoming Live version of SF2 isn't going to play like SF2? I thought it was just Super Turbo with updated graphics. Unless you're comparing the original SF2 to Super SF2 Turbo?

I thought that trailer was phenomenal. Let's hope that the game is just as good as the trailer.
