Re: Resident Evil 5
Technically speaking, they are not zombies. Zombies are a reanimated dead. This is a parasitic infestation and the parasites are controlling living hosts. So, RE4/5 = not zombies by textbook definition.

Plus, if I remember right, once you kill the parasites infecting the people they're pretty much dead anyway right?

Re: Resident Evil 5
Since it looks like a lot of us are somewhat disappointed with the demo, what do you guys think the odds are that we will end up buying the game anyway?
Frankly, I suck at RE controls. The last RE game I played prior to this one was (I think) RE2 on the N64. At least in that one the zombies were slow as hell. In RE5 whenever I get in closed combat with a horde of them (and that's pretty often, in the demo), I just end up panicking and mashing buttons, not facing the right direction for the enemy attacking me, and then before I know it it's game over.
RE5 is enticing (in the major franchise, sexy-looking, new game sort of way), but I know I will have a lot of difficulty with the controls and will end up getting stuck very early on in the game.

I didn't find the controls as unbearable as everybody else, I found them on par with the GCN/PS2 versions of RE4 (but not nearly as good as the Wii version). That, plus I'm an RE whore, so I'll be picking this up.

I'll buy it either on sale for a ridiculous discount or I'll wait for the eventual price drop.
As I've said before, price drops make me more forgiving.

finally got around to playing the demo. holy moly the controls are terrible. last played RE4 on Wii, so maybe that's jading my perception of the game.

Re: Resident Evil 5
I have had problems with the controls forever for RE. I never bought one for any system (though I played many through other friends) until the Gamecube version. I enjoyed it, but never completed it due to growing frustration with the controls. The Wii version I bought and liked the controls. I ended up completing that game. I'm not going to say I 0loved the controls because I do remember frustration, but because aiming was so easy I became a lot more forgiving. I will learn from that lesson and not by this game because of that.

Actually, "ganado" is Spanish for "cattle". The word "ganados" doesn't exist in the Spanish language since "ganado" is both the singular and plural form of the word.

Re: Resident Evil 5
if this is directed at me, i never said i wasn't going to buy it. (edit: i now see this wasn't directed at me). i said the controls are horrible. they are floaty and sluggish. it doesn't control like any of the previous incarnations of RE games (i've played them all). the biggest issue i have is that they seemingly took away the targeting lock on system. now you have to aim the cursor to hit the target. while this makes for a more realistic experience, it's also maddening when you've used to one style of RE gameplay. "changing" the control will do nothing other than change the button layout; it's not going fix how sluggish they are.

Re: Resident Evil 5
I'm saying that I have never enjoyed the controls other than on the Wii. So while others may think the game is great, it's not to me because I just end up getting frustrated with the controls, like every other RE game other than the Wii version. That's why I'm not getting it.

Re: Resident Evil 5
I hope so too.
Despite the glowing review, I'm on the fence regarding this game. Although I had no problem with the control scheme of RE4 on my PS2, if the sequel is more action heavy such a control scheme needs a total overhall. And I don't like the idea of a real time inventory during single play. You'd think after Alone In The Dark made the same mistake (although the inventory was realtime and a complete mess) and was rightfully criticized for it, Capcom would make damn sure not to do the same.

Re: Resident Evil 5
It's been a while since I posted the above, but after finally playing the RE5 demo - I hated everything about it. I absolutely loathe the controls and this may be the first RE game that I completely skip (unless the reviews come out ridiculously awesome).
