New gameplay video.
Also, I didn't see it mentioned in any of the other posts, but the North American release date has been set at March 13, 2009.

I wish they'd release a set of the previous games on the 360. I want to get caught up on the series but don't want to keep switching back and forth between systems to do it.

I bought the GameCube versions to play on my Wii last year. Thats probably the best way to go as it is the only way to play the excellent remake of the first one.

Spoiler:
If this is indeed to be the last game in the series, I hope Leon appears (even if not playable) and gets a proper sendoff. I really like that character and his all too brief interplay with Ada was fun to watch.
Any word if the animated RE movie will be directly linked to the games or a separate continuity like the live action movies?

Unlike the previous Resident Evil film trilogy, Degeneration is set within the same universe as the original video games [1] taking place "7 years from Raccoon City".

I will probably pick this up for the 360 since I just purchased one for my son and would like to have the 360 version in order to play with him on his system when we are not at my home.

Resident Evil 5 Demo, Special Edition Detailed
Could a XBL Marketplace demo be in your future?
By Kevin Gifford, 11/26/2008
In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine, Capcom revealed the first details behind the demo version of Resident Evil 5 -- which, so far anyway, has only been announced for the Xbox 360 version. The demo, which covers two stages set around the African town of Kijuju, is slated to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 5 in Japan. Gamers will need a Gold Membership to download the demo, but it'll be worth it because the demo -- just like the full game -- can be played completely online in co-op mode. Neat.
Capcom also offered up the full story behind the upcoming limited-edition version of RE5, available exclusively at their e-CAPCOM virtual storefront in Japan. The goodies inside the limited box: the game, a 2GB USB drive shaped like a Tricell anti-virus vaccine capsule, a BSAA waist pack modeled after the one hero Chris is sporting in the game, and an exclusive 32-page artbook with staff commentary. If having assorted bric-a-brac around the house modeled after horror-game accessories excites you (and you live in Japan), you'll be able to reserve the package online starting December 4.
While we're on the subject of dates, Capcom closed their RE5 announcements for today by stating that the title will go on sale March 5 in Japan, a week earlier than previously scheduled -- the rest of the world will still need to wait until March 12, sadly. "I would like to sincerely thank everyone who visited Capcom's booth at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show," producer Jun Takeuchi told Famitsu. "A lot of visitors commented about how they couldn't wait any longer to play the game, which I genuinely appreciated hearing. All of us on the team were inspired by that to cut the remaining development period down...even if it is by only a week!"

I hate to say it, but the demo disappointed me. Part of it may be that I've played Dead Space quite a bit lately, which has taken the RE4 controls and improved them (at least in non-Wii terms). So the controls here feel like a huge step backward... with neither the precision the Wii RE4 offered nor the flexibility of the Dead Space controls. Aiming felt slow, and maybe the GC RE4 was the same way... but that was four years ago. They felt revolutionary then, but now? Not so much.
There were only two levels offered, so I suppose that's an unfairly small sampling, but I really didn't like the setting at all. It's like the later, less creepy levels of RE4. And I already felt that while RE4 offered an advancement in gameplay, the story didn't hold a candle to the Umbrella/Racoon City saga. This seems to be a step even further in that direction. The RE5 demo barely felt like a horror game to me. Again, maybe I'm spoiled after playing Dead Space and Left 4 Dead back-to-back, but these two levels just didn't deliver the goods, horror-wise.
On the bright side, I liked the partner aspect (utilized more effectively than in RE0). This might be fun in co-op. The real time inventory harkens back to the RE:Outbreak games as well as Dead Space, and adds a bit of urgency to the action. And visually it's great.
But the pros unfortunately don't outnumber the cons. I've loved every non-gun and non-portable game in the RE series. It's probably my favorite game franchise overall. I've been eagerly awaiting this since it was announced, and despite my concerns with the early screenshots and teasers, held out hope. This demo was a major letdown. It simply didn't excite me. I know it's just a demo, and one that hasn't even officially hit our shores yet. I'm sure I'll still buy it, but my enthusiasm has definitely been tempered.
