Has anyone successfully used the D-Link 3420 Gaming Adapter with the 360? I have nothing but issues with it.

It's Circuit City. We're still not sure they'll actually honor this since it's such a sweet deal, but as written, there's no reason Best Buy wouldn't PM it -- just make sure you go on Sunday before they can put a kibosh on this deal if it's an error somehow.

And about Pac-Man : My wife keeps complaining about it. Her beef? "How am I supposed to control it with my left hand? You've messed with the controls!" (I'm a lefty, she's a righty). I tried to explain to her that every game system since the NES has movement controlled with the left and buttons on the right, but somehow she doesn't believe me. Typical of her : I find the one person in the world who's worse at video games than me and I don't even get to gloat about it.

cool. My CC & BB are practically across the street from each other. I'll start at CC and head to BB if they won't allow it. I don't see why not though.

I hope there's no limit on that. I'd have no problem spending $100 to get $200 in MS Points. Although my policy is to buy every arcade game I've been holding back, waiting for a deal like this.

I've downloaded about 75% of the live arcade games, many of which I played only briefly after purchasing. Yesterday, I downloaded Sonic, Golden Axe (both of which I already downloaded on the wii vc and initially said I wouldn't download on the 360), and geometry wars...which I am really enjoying.

You downloaded 75% of the arcade games before Geometry Wars? How is that even possible? That game rocks.

Well, I really look at the 360 as an XBLA device. Frankly, I find paying $60 for a game repulsive. I understand other people do it and I am not going to say how they should spend their money but I've spent as much time playing Carcassone as I have Marvel Ultimate Alliance and one of these cost me $50 more. And this is for a lot of titles. If I am in the need for a new game, it works out better to spend $20 and get 2-3 new Arcade titles, thereby saving me $80 or so. And it's not that I'm buying Over G Fighters. I buy good, decently reviewed games. And they're good. I just have a hard time consistently finding the 20+ hours needed to get very good at a game. Sometimes I have the time, often I don't. It's why I haven't bought Forza. I hate the idea of a game gathering dust. I'd much rather spend $20 or $30 on it buying it 6-12 months later and then I don't feel as bad when I'm not playing it and getting use out of it.

I realize if I subscribe to Gamefly this is less of a problem but for $20 a month I'd rather play Arcade titles than rent games.

For what it's worth, I've only bought a handful of VC games on the Wii.

Decker,

I had never heard of geometry wars before and I was bored yesterday and decided to download and check out some new games. Actually, just after posting that last comment I decided to play some more geometry wars. I'm definately enjoying it, but we'll see if I play it for more than a few days before getting bored with it and moving on.

I definately play way more XBLA games than I do regular ones, and I could count the number of times I've played the Wii on one hand.

What definitely gets me hooked a lot of times on arcade games is having a friendlist that is pretty active in arcades. Trying to beat a high score that someone else has sometimes is enough motivation.

The XBLA is really a brilliant thing. I was completely unimpressed with it on the Xbox, but here it's so well implemented. The best example may be Bomberman last week. To be able to get a really complete game with lots of gameplay modes and full Live integration immediately to your console's HD and be playing with others within seconds of finding it available is pretty special. Especially at only $10.

I think there's a lot of crap in the arcade as well and I'm not a fan of retro gaming -- at least not at $5 a pop when I can get a disc of about 30 retro games for the PSP or PS2 for under $20. Still when it's done right, it's a pretty cool thing. Bring on Wing Commander!

And this is why Martini is crying himself to sleep at night because he can't beat me in Pac-man CE

My score is wedged right between the both of yours, IIRC. I gave up on catching Flay a long time ago but have to admit I usually push myself to do at least as well as you.

"Hell, if Liver & Onions can get to level 5, I should be able to..."

The first thing I did when I got my 360 back from Microsoft today was buy Pacman CE. I've been playing it off and on for the whole afternoon (while trying to study for a chemistry test I have in the morning, what a day to get my 360 back..) and I'm hooked. I really suck at it (my high score is, I think, around 150000) but I'm having a blast with it. So glad to have my 360 after about a month and a half without it.

I do the same with you actually. Well, Martin first but he generally sucks at arcade games so that's not much challenge.

Follow-up question about the live arcade unplugged disc. Have any of those 6 games been "updated" after the disc was pressed. If so, how does it synch with the server if you wanted to take one of them online, like THE. Does it just download the server version temporarily every time you put the disc in?

I think it just updates as needed. Like any disc-based game would. Certainly Texas Hold 'Em was recently updated to allow Vision Camera ability. I think Backgammon as well.

I'm terrible at Geometry Wars. I completely don't understand how people are getting such high scores.

Also, for Pac-Man CE - is the key to high scores chaining the power pellets and clearing the ghosts multiple times? I was playing the demo like i normally played Pac-Man and had no idea how people could score the way they did.
