I'm pretty sure that it puts it into a low power standby mode while it downloads then shuts off completely when that is done.

I guess that's how it works.

Just as well since I'm out of HDMI inputs on my TV anyway but I have an open VGA.

now I have to figure out what to do here. it is a launch system so even the MS extended warrantee has expired, correct? I just bought an Elite but I haven't hooked it up yet(I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it yet) so I do have a backup system. I was thinking about trying to sell my premium but if I have to possibly pay 130.00(number I've seen in numorous posts while searching for my error code) that will definately eat into any small profit I could have possibly made on it.

yea, definitely
the elites are basically going for retail on ebay anyway, so I don't think that would help you much either.
i'm sure most here frown on the "switcheroo". I'd suggest contacting M$, and basically demand satisfaction.
Especially considering yours was bricked during an update

You can also go to the system blade, memory, and delete them that way.

I just got off the phone with MS. they stated that my console is out of the warranty period so if I decide to send it in it will cost me 139.90 for repairs. I was then told that if my console can not be repaired that I would just be sent another working unit(not a new console of course). so I can either do nothing and keep the dead box or pay 140.00 and hope I get my console back repaired and not some possible piece of junk that someone else sent in.

I believe that was supposed to be in this update as well. The ability to delete games off your gamertag. Low to zero pointers or games you are ashamed you put in the drive.
Has anyone noticed the ability to do that yet?

I like the auto-shutoff for downloads. I have a crap 768kbps connection, so it would be nice to have the machine turnoff when I do overnight downloads of those gigabyte demos.

Has anyone noticed the ability to do that yet?Really? You mean like Rentals and stuff like that? That would be cool! If you go to the xbox forums there's a HUGE thread in the "Wishes" area about this very issue. People really want to be able to delete games like that.

TVersity stopped working following the update. I went through all the trouble of updating TVersity and then setting it up to work with my Wii. Ends up they released a patch tonite.

I always thought VGA looked fine on my Sammy 61 1080p DLP, but I'll use this expanded feature after seeing those pic comparisons linked in the thread. I watched the Crash 2-disc director's cut tonight, looked as good as anything on HBOHD, Mojo, or UniversalHD.
I'm glad Microsoft is still looking out for the 1080p VGA gamers. I'm still disappointed that only in 2007 you get HDMI, but looks like they're making sure those of us getting 1080p over VGA are getting the best picture we can.

There is a TON of new DLC coming for Crackdown, including 350 new achievement points. Some free content and some premium content.
Read more about it.
The Street Race achievement will be one I doubt many will get. Worth 150 for winning EVERY race with EVERY car.
I also bumped the Crackdown thread to continue the discussion.
