I'm a huge 360 fan but that article nails it. I'm really enjoying my system but it's sad that the Red Ring of Death is always on one's mind while playing or turning the system on.

MS, get you shit together.

That Mad Tracks game looks pretty good. I've been waiting, though, for something along the lines of a new school RC Pro Am.

Hopefully it is just the optical cable.

which is almost exact, I believe. I think it was the day after I had to go back to work (New Years)

If you haven't voted yet.. Please do..

Poll: Have you had to send your 360 in for service?

Only 75 votes and I know there is A LOT of members on here that have a 360. Just want to see how many here have had problems / not had any.

i didn't have the ring of death, but the video output crapped out on me.
Was getting a very dark blurred and shaky picture.
There are other ways for the 360 to fail besides the "ring of death".

should I feel like a bad consumer for not caring if I get red rings? Its all coming out of Microsofts pocket to fix.

They should have gotten the extended warranty for half that price.

Sure people that bought one at launch couldn't have predicted how problematic the 360 would turn out to be. Anyone that has bought a 360 within the last year or so should have enough sense to buy the extended warranty. The 360 and extended warranty go together like peanut butter and jelly.

after owning the original Xbox for years and never having one single issue I figured the 360 would have been built the same way. boy was I wrong.

If the system is so problematic that a horseshit extended warranty is practically required, that's more like them going together like peanut butter and mayonnaise.

I had the original Xbox die on me so I knew to buy the 360 warranty.

Extended Warranties on crappy products are just throwing good money after bad. How many people have had to repeatedly return their 360's? The extended warranty doesn't cover the inconvenience and aggravation with having to return the defective units.

My launch-day 360 has been working fine. But if I get the ring of death, I will most likely NOT get it repaired and hold off buying a new one until the quality improves. I have this impression that quality has DECREASED since the initial launch....not improved.

You don't feel bad if your 360 dies because your new girlfriend only lets you play it once a month..

For us that play it nightly it blows hard.

I won't get my coffin until Tuesday (called this past Sunday). Then it will take 3-5 to get to them.. 5-7 to get it back.. All together prolly a month without it..

This sucks!

I went with the product replacement plan at GameStop. $40 or whatever, and if my 360 up and died, I could get it replaced at no cost. The first one I got was defective, and died on me after about 2-3 months. I should've taken it back within the first 30 days, but all my friend's told me that the heat it was immenating was normal. I took it in and got it replaced and bought another product replacement for the new box. This one has been much better to me, and isn't scalding to the touch, even after playing it for hours on end.

So wait.. You paid $40 for a replacement plan.. It broke.. You got it replaced and had to buy ANOTHER replacement plan? How long does it last? Why not just pay $50 for M$FT's one time?

I believe it lasts two years. I'd rather do that and be guaranteed a brand new 360, and not have to wait for 3-6 weeks to play again, while waiting for a "coffin" and the actual repaired/refurbished unit to be returned.
