gotta say the packaging on the Xbox version leaves alot to be desired. instead of having those flip type things that hold the discs, this is literally 3 discs just stacked on top of each other on one spindle.
you do get a code for 2 different armors, though, which is cool. i take that back. they aren't armor for in game stuff. it's armor for your xbox live avatar. lame.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching
My PS3 is almost exclusively a Blu-Ray player with the exception of the Final Fantasy series. I just finished XII and despite the notalgia for the 16-bit era, I'm looking forward to see how XIII plays.
The linearity and lack of towns was disconcerting to hear about, but I'll withhold judgment until I get into the game.

Yep. While I did enjoy IX because it felt more like the games I played on the NES and SNES, none of the FF games released since VI have been able to top it.

I guess I must be in the minority, I loved FFX, only FF I had played to that point. Then played the first few originals. Will be buying this though seeing as I've been drooling over screencaps for years now.

i hadn't played any of those, so i can't comment. i just think it's lame to cheap out and just stack discs on top of each other. they could spend an extra 50 cents to upgrade the case. cheap bastich companies.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching
so far my initial impressions are:
graphics on xbox are pretty damn good. don't see room for much improvement. i like the combat system so far. the voice acting is pretty corny, as are most jrpgs. the linearity isn't all that bad because it jumps back and forth between characters. tracking your character is sometimes a pita, b/c the control scheme is sort of floaty and not terribly responsive. as for the plot, i have absolutely no fucking clue what is going on.

Got my copy for the PS3. Looks absolutely amazing. I'm only at the first level, so I have no clue what's going on or what's happening, but so far so good.

For example, here's a screenshot from the 360 version of the game (spoilered for size):

Now, here's that same spot in the game on the PS3:

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching
while i agree the dialogue is bad, i think it's more the voice acting than anything. the "black guy" voice is so stereotypical.
