I think that's his point. Wii60 owners are the ones that will be interested in both games.
For Metroid to sell more on the Wii's smaller install base it would have to appeal to casual and non-gamers (i.e. people that bought a Wii for Wiisports etc.) which its not going to do.
I can see the point. If I had a 360 I'd definitely get Bioshock before Metroid Prime 3 personally, and I think he's just arguing that many of this crowd will do the same (again Wii60 people).
Seems reasonable, I can't see MP3 outselling Bioshock, and especially not by a 2:1 ratio.

I keep trying to tell myself its early and so on, but I really don't like the Wii. I hate, no make that despise, Wii controls on 90% of the games I have played. Even in some cases where they were good they were still not better than standard controls.
And games. Man, the Wii software lineup sucks. I enjoyed Wii sports for a couple of weeks, but overall the games are a huge letdown. I liked Twilight Princess and thought Super Paper Mario was really good, but neither of these has sold me on the Wii since they were really Cube games.
The VC is a great idea, but the pricing is rape and the extra channels are cool, but the internet and weather channels are not the reason I bought a Wii.
Honestly the thing keeping me going is the DS. That is an amazing game system and in it I see what the Wii can become. I just hope Nintendo starts delivering quality games with good use of the Wii controls soon. I am really worried the Wii will be some novelty system I use to play 1-2 Nintendo exclusives a year.

I'm with you there 100%. Only thing keeping me from ditching it is that I was hating the DS at this point in it's life span and it made a complete 180 for me when developers got away from making every game use the damn touch screen. I'm hoping the same with happen with the Wii and the motion controls.
I'm giving it until early next year, so I can at least check out Metroid, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. If I'm not digging it by then I'll ditch the Wii for good.

Being a Wii60 owner I'm going to play through Metroid before Bioshock (which I can't wait for). Halo 3 in September is just the right amount of time I'll need to complete Prime and Bioshock will have to wait for the holidays.
And for people that complain the Wii is just a mini-game system, I'd rather play those mini-games doing something I've never done before than play Gears of War (a wall hugging mini-game/"RE 4 rip-off"---as stated by Cliffy B. himself). Sure the 360 has a buttload of triple A titles coming, but you know, I've played them all before (save Too Human, the savior of the 360). It still all about the Wii. Wait.

For those of you who don't like the Wii--why did you get one? Esp. since odds are you had to hunt or camp out to get one (at least closer to launch date). I bought the Wii closer to launch date than any other console (notable yet embarassing exception: I preordered the 32x, but that was mostly to help out a friend whose game store wasn't doing that well--it didn't help, he closed down six months later). When I'm considering a new console, I spend about 15% of the time looking at the specs and the future promise---and the rest of the time looking at the current, or very close-to-release, games, since that's really all that you can count on. I haven't seen the games on 360 or PS3 yet that have made me want to drop the money on one of them. Esp. during the slow and usually relatively unimpressive launch period (for any console).
I'm sure there are developers now who are really overusing the Wii's unique controls for one of two reasons: 1. it's a new toy, so they're making it do everything it can just for novelty's sake (bad), and 2. the more they use it, the more they will learn to use it (good). It'll start to balance out, I'm sure, the market is too big for it not to, and that market is large enough, with both semi-'hardcore' gamers who wanted something a little new instead of "the next Devil May Cryr", "the next Grand Theft Auto", or the next "hot" FPS, and 'mainstream', WiiSports gamers to support all kinds of games.
I have no problem with minigames--as long as they're fun. I don't have three hours at a time to commit to an indepth RPG anymore, plus, I'm just not in the mood (I'm in the fourth town of Baten Kaitos, and just didn't want to wander the town talking to people anymore). Quick (as in, quick to learn), pick up and play games are much more convenient, and much more suitable for local multiplayer (involving the wife and boy, and based on my brief experiences with the predominately cursing griefing cheating/quitting attitudinal juveniles on online gaming, I'm not too worried about missing that demographic), and can still offer enough depth to provide a challenge or multiple play styles or not rely solely on luck.
I haven't finished Metroid Prime yet, in fact I just barely started (I just landed on the planet, so that's what, level 2?) but it sounds like I should skip MP2 from what y'all are saying.
The DS did come out in late 2004, so it's got two years on the Wii, so it might have faced the same sort of commentary/criticism (I'm not a handheld gamer, so I didn't follow the buzz at the time).

For me so far, the Wii has been the greatest console I have ever owned! My Wii collection of games:
Zelda, SSX, Super Paper Mario, Excite Truck, Trauma Center, Monkey Ball, Wii Sports, Wii Play
These games have provided so much fun to me and my family/friends. The main enjoyment of all these games comes from the unique Wii controls. Add to this the Virtual Console games I've purchased and all the Wii channels (especially Internet), no other console comes close to level of fun that the Wii has given me.

I'm not giving up on it and worst case I will still enjoy the big Nintendo titles like Mario Galaxy.

I was stoked as hell for it, but I've just been hugely disappointed thus far. But like I said, I'm still hoping it will bounce back just like the DS which also sucked hairy donkey balls its first year or so.
I also didn't hunt or camp for mine. I only waited inside a mall for an hour the day Gamestop took preorders and got one. Did hassle a bit with selling stuff online and taking advantage of trade in deals at Gamestop. Ended up not paying a cent out of pocket for the Wii and Zelda. So that's part of the reason I haven't sold it, as I don't really have any "losses: to recoup. If I'd straight up bought it, I'd probably have sold it buy now.

I 2nd that the Wii is probably my favorite console I've owned... at least as far as how excited I am to own it. I honestly don't get the criticisms at all (except the weak lineup), but then I own Zelda, Sports, Play, Excite Truck, SPM -- all which I like. That's plenty of good games for me. I'm looking forward to many more in the next few months. What more do I need from a console?

So far it's just been Zelda for me, and SPM I want to play eventually but it's not an OMG must buy right now! type of game for me.
The weak line up is really my only gripe. I'm not big on the motion controls yet, but that's mainly a side effect of the weak line up as I really liked them in Zelda so I figure I'll like them more when there are more game that take good advantage of them like Zelda.

Sure Nintendo will let out some single player games, but that doesn't seem to be the focus so much.
If you don't have anyone to play them with, you'd probably better invest in a 360 as it has lots of online play.

Excite Truck is a great single player game. I wouldn't even group it in with the other games you listed in regards to being party games.
I love the Wii, it is just so damn hard to pull me away from the 360 to play it. When I do decide to boot it up, I have a blast. It's just a matter of picking up the Wiimote before the 360 pad when I sit down.
I am already enjoying it more than the Gamecube, which I think was Nintendo's weakest console.

If it's still sucking I'll ditch it.

This Sunday May 27th, the Wii is listed for sale in the ads for Best Buy, Target and Circuit City.
Also Circuit City will be selling Mario Party 8 for $39.99 next week as well!

I don't think most stores will have it out until next Wed.

But upon further investigation it looks like it's not being released until the Tuesday after.
Why the hell won't they release it before the 3 day weekend? I guess the Japanese don't celebrate U.S. Memorial Day!

It is stupid as hell though IMO. Games should be sent early and just not put out until Tuesday just like Albums or Movies.

Does Mario Party 8 utilize both the nunchuck and the Wiimote? Need to figure how many more of what I need before picking it up.
