Is Xbox vastly out-selling the Wii?
I went into Game Crazy or some such store and they had a massive XBox section, the usual colossal PS2 section. The Wii games were all being the counter and they had a tiny Gamecube section.
I was under the impression that Wiis were selling like crazy and still in shortage. Why do these video game stores not give more space to the Wii? Even Best Buy rarely even has Wii stuff in their ads. Always Xbox and Ps2.

There are more Xbox360 owners than Wii owners, but on a month-to-month basis the Wii is selling better. There are also a lot more games for the Xbox360, so more to sell.
If trends continue, expect the Wii section to grow.

So what explains the total lack of interest from the box stores - Best Buy and Circuit City? The CC by my house almost hides the Nintendo section. From a retail perspective, I'd think you'd want to ride the hot item. Maybe its not so hot for retailers?

well, the hot games for the Wii, like their first-party titles won't go on sale at large retailers like BB and CC until they release the greatest hits versions.
The games for the system that get discounted aren't something I'd recommend to anyone in the first place.
Also, I don't think they want to advertise Wii products until the console itself is readily available.

The more 'party' games the better. Hopefully this one is a good one.

If something sells out in hours, why even bother spending the ad $ to promote it?

Oh and I've actually noticed an expansion of Gamecube sections since the Wii has become a hot seller. When I was first looking for a Wii, my Best Buy didn't even have a Gamecube section. Now they have a small section selling some of the Greatest Hits titles (Kart, SSB, etc). The EB Games by my work has added a special section for used and new Gamecube games and accessories. That wasn't there a few months ago.

Don't really like having my name out there now, with google pulling up thousands of posts etc.
