Well, based on all the good things that I've heard about the Godfather game, I took the plunge and ordered it. It should be in my mailbox today or tomorrow. And tomorrow is my day off ... so I'm hoping to get a little bit of new gaming in.

I also ordered Super Paper Mario. It will be the first new Mario game I will have played since the SNES.

This is going to happen I think as long as the VC can handle Saturn games. Sega is already adding Saturn games to GameTap so I would expect them on Wii at some point.

I think size is an issue unless they use compression. If they let us play off our SD cards, then size becomes moot. 4-8GB SD cards would be perfectly fine. Wouldn't even need a HD, really.

Aren't the "Saturn" games that are on GameTap just Saturn games that were ported to PC way back in the day, like Bug?

I don't believe so. As logical as that would be, they did the same thing when they used a Dreamcast emulated version of Crazy Taxi instead of the PC Port.

But, oh well, at least I got to play Chu Chu Rocket and Toy Commander again .

Edit: also found -- Although at least one of these titles have appeared in little-known converted PC versions around the time of the original release, sources close to GameTap have confirmed that the titles are indeed running in a Sega Saturn emulator, rather than simply the PC SKU.

On the upside, GameTap can handle the controller configurations this way, and since every emulator-based game has a default config for Xbox360 controllers, I'm set.

The next two Saturn titles are Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei. I am praying Saga is going to end up there as well.

Gametap is really good about grouping the games. They do have a lot of PC versions of console games, but they keep those in the PC section. Their Dreamcast and Saturn games are running on those emulators.

Wii is getting it's first non-VC downloadable game, a remake of the C64 classic Impossible Mission:

Nice, just yesterday I was posed a "when and what" question on the first non-VC title.

I'll buy this. This is the kind of stuff I want to see on the VC.

That news is so yesterday

I'm excited for it too. I loved that game (and still have it emulated) but I was planning on getting the DS version. I may have to switch that to support new VC content and I'm hoping it'll be cheaper. This seems like a budget DS entry at $20, but would they seriously charge that much for a Wii download like this?

The highest priced Xbox Live Arcade game is $15.00 (RoboBlitz), so they'd be nuts to charge more than $8-10 for Impossible Mission on the Wii.

I really wish the Wii would group VC games by system. My Wii menu is getting really cluttered.

Yes, sub-channels (preferably customizable) would be of huge benefit.

Agreed - sub-channels. I'd love to make a Zelda channel, for example, rather than just NES and SNES channels (though those would be nice too).

Plus a simple channel swap would be nice. I leave a blank spot on each page to just make moving them around easier. If I could pick up A and drop it on B to have them switch places it would be much better.

How does that solve anything? I'd still have 15 games floating around each with their own square. I'd rather see groupings.

you could set them up per page.

For example, the first page of screens could just be the Mii channel, shop channel, internet channel, etc.
The next page could be for all the NES games, and the next page for all your Genesis games, etc.
There should be enough pages of empty channels to do this.

I think there's only 4 pages. I already moved all my non-game stuff (Miis, Shopping, Internet, etc) to the last page and that takes up half a page already.

Yeah i've heard of people doing similar things. I have most everything on Page 1 and the rarely used channels (News, weather) on Page 2. That works fine for me. Maybe if I had 15 VC games it'd be a problem.

I still think Sub-channels would be nice. Even sub-sub-channels.
