It looks new, it had a sticker over the disk drive. I have yet to hook it up since it's pretty cold, am waiting for it to get to room temperature.

How quick are the achievement points in the kids games Cars or even Open Range?

Cars: Approximately 6 to 7 hours for the full 1000 if you use a decent FAQ for collecting the postcards.

Open Season: 5 to 7 hours for the full 1000 when using a FAQ to collect the tokens. Also, read up on how to complete the Snow Blitz level. I can provide some great tips if you want.

I rented College Hoops 2K6 to try to squeeze myself into the 2nd bracket, and I'm having a hard time getting the achievements to unlock. I've played three games now (with two players or against the computer) and messed with the sliders like I've read, and the achievements still don't unlock.

Is there a certain mode you have to be in to unlock them? And do they unlock right away, or at the end of the game? Thanks for any help.

Woohoo! #44!!! I need to rack up some points on Live!

Michael Corvin 02-07-07 06:25 PM

Ahh... nothing like a contest turn turn non-achievement point whores into achievement point whores.

Moving the sliders shouldn't matter. They unlock at the end of the game.

Well it looks like you unlocked some. By the way, you can use 2 players on any of those achievements if you have an extra controller. Makes the blocks one very easy.

Yeah.. It finally started working. I don't know what I was doing wrong at the beginning, but I finally got them all. It took me more like 3 hours instead of 30 minutes, but that's alright. At least I'm into Level 2 for the Old Spice Challenge now. :)

I just got back from Blockbuster with King Kong after finishing up College Hoops. I figure that'll provide me more entertainment tonight than one of the other sports titles that I'll pick up tomorrow.

FYI, you can use cheats with Kong and still earn achievements.

It's not necessary because the game is already incredibly easy, but it speeds up the process a bit when racing through for gamerscore.

Am I the only one here that doesn't give a flying fuck about achievement points - regardless of whatever points or shitty little trinkets they give away for them?

I mean the effort required to get these points don't seem worth to me at all - I need points, I'll buy them. I don't understand all this hooplah.

amped 02-07-07 09:35 PM

www.achieve360points.com

database that lists every achievement for every 360 game, disk or arcade, from no effort to near impossible.

I don't care about achievement points either, prizes or not. I have played a couple dozen 360 games and my gamerscore is only around 4000 or so. I just unlock achievements accidentally by completing a level or whatever.

I can understand why some people go apeshit over achievements though. It is nostalgia of the 80s when arcades ruled. A lot of people would try and try to get high scores in Space Invaders and Pacman, etc. These are the same people that care about their gamerscore. As for me, I never cared about getting on the Top Ten Scoreboard in Space Invaders so I therefore certainly don't care about my gamerscore either.

Some people like playing their games from a different perspective (for points). Adds replay value to some.

i feel a little warm inside when i get an "achievement awarded" notice. :)

but otherwise i dont pursue them, I like them to be surprises like a birthday present or something. I like to know im making a difference in the COG army.

So I'll ask again - does anyone know when Castlevania: SOTN is going to be available on Live - I heard it was this month - is there anything more specific?

Michael Corvin 02-08-07 04:46 PM

I think it is supposed to be next week.

A-aron 02-09-07 06:16 AM

I was thinking of pre-ordering Guitar Hero from Best Buy. Does anyone think that stores might be offering some kind of freebie on release day? Might be better to wait and get it in-store instead.

Shagrath 02-09-07 07:06 AM

RedOctane.com is offering a free gig bag with order, and Costco.com has it for $79.99 ($10 off the retail).

I just noticed that you can buy additional guitars over at RedOctane as well to the tune of $60 a piece! So now I'm looking at $140+tax if I jump in on the Costco thing. Ouch!

A-aron 02-09-07 12:35 PM

according to the RedOctane site, it will ship 4/3. But BestBuy.com shows it releases 3/1 .. Why the month difference? Has the date been moved back to April now?

The original date was 3/1, but was changed to 4/3. Most B&M stores haven't updated the date yet.

wll, damn, that sucks! I guess it is the norm for every release to get moved at least once. I was all excited to play in a few weeks. Guess I'll order from RedOctane, then.

What would be funny is if they ban certain games in the terms of the contest, but I don't expect that to happen.

 That's my plan. I'm borrowing College Hoops from a friend and I had to call a half dozen video stores today to find one that still had NBA 2K6. Since it is a 5 day rental, I figured it was probably safer to snag it before the weekend rush. Not that a 2K6 game flys off the shelf anymore, but better safe than sorry. :)

I doubt they will restrict anything this time, but once the results start pouring in, you bet they will next time.

rsxtreme415 02-09-07 08:21 PM

Can anyone teach me how to fly in pgr3? ive tried it a few times and so far no luck.

A-aron 02-10-07 07:17 AM

so, according to this challenge, it doesn't really matter how many points you have to start (other than the prize you'd be winning) - the object is to gain 1500 points quickly starting on the 12th, right?

argh923 02-10-07 01:42 PM

Correct.

How easy are the achievements for College Hoops 2K7 and The Godfather?
