Okay, consensus time : Small Arms, Assault Heroes or Heavy Weapon? Which is the best, and why do they all have such generic, interchangable names?

Because they're generic, interchangable games.

Assault Heroes had the most fun co-op.

Heavy Weapon has the best single palayer.

Small Arms has the best battle mode.

Heavy Weapon has some great online, too.

Heavy Weapon is a great shooter. Controls basically like Smash TV. The free trial mode has a lot of game time compared to some of the other games.

I bought Small Arms and I really like it too. I didn't care for Assault Heroes much.

I only have "Small Arms" out of the three you're asking about but it is a sweet game especially in the online battle mode. If more people on my friends list had it I'd play it all the time.

Also, in case anyone is still playing Oblivion, the newest OXM demo disc had the Wizard's Tower and the Pirate Ship downloads for free on the disc.

xmiyux do you get your disks like a month late? I've had that issue for at least a few weeks.

Anyone else have a chance to try out Crackdown yet?

Only had a chance to play for 10min, but so far if you enjoy GTA, you may like this as well. Increasing your stats and approaching objectives your way sound good, can't wait to try online co-op as well.

They do come slower to me, it seems like i normally get that magazine like 1-2 weeks after people post on here receiving them. I got my issue middle of last week but forgot to mention on here the free downloads (since i hadn't noticed anyone else mentioning them).

Dude I'd be calling UPS and freaking out on someone.........tell them you want it on a delivery truck and at your door Today! I've had similar things happen to me in the past and generally when you go apeshit on someone at UPS they'll make things right.

I honestly didn't know crackdown was available for download yet

Yeah, yesterday would have been 3 days, with this little side trip definitely makes it 5 days.

I'll have to give them a buzz.

I heard on Major Nelson's podcast that IPTV won't mean much for consumers until next year.

The best is when it will take another day to get back to Louisville and go through their sort again before it heads out for delivery. I had a package from Best Buy once go from wherever they ship in Ohio, to Toledo, to Michigan, where I expected to see "out for delivery" the next day. Instead it showed "departed" for two days before suddenly showing up in Jacksonville, FL. After much complaining, they overnighted it to Michigan for me, but other than that and a "we're sorry", there was really nothing else they could do.

Anyone know what the update for Gears of War was about?

Well it doesn't make sense in the fact that Louisville is one of the main hubs for the area. It doesn't need to go to a larger hub and be resorted, etc. Oh well, I'm still caught up in Excite Truck anyway. I can wait.

I've had the same thing happen Corvin . I live in Kentucky and have ordered stuff from UPS and had them ship it to Louisville / Lexington / Louisville and then finaly back to my place. I friggin' hate UPS .

How's the Crackdown demo? I will have to wait another week for us Silver users can download it. Guess I need to renew my Gold membership, but I haven't had time to play online.

The Crackdown demo is extremely entertaining. I'm really digging the skill learning aspects of the game as well as the almost limitless draw distance.
The demo is limited to an hour overall, but once any skill level (driving, fighting, shooting, etc) reaches the level 2, a 30 minute timer kicks in. There are orbs all over the city which power up those abilites and increase the level of the skill. I spent most of my morning playtime attempting to level up my jumping / agility skills. Launching yourself from rooftop to rooftop is insanely fun.

I didn't like the targeting / aiming system, but it has a bit of a learning curve. I'll attempt to familiarize myself more with it later. I haven't tried out the co-op either.

But definitely download the demo. And join me for some co-op later.

I played through the single player demo this morning before work and I agree with your summary. It's really fun just to mess around with the jumping, climbing, and car-tossing. I'll be pre-ordering this later in the week.

Like an hour in a sitting or an hour accrued time and the demo won't run anymore? I'm assuming it is the former rather than the latter.

Corvin, I also feel your pain of UPS stupidity in this case. Reminded me of when I ordered our Gateway computer(required a signature from us and neighbors were all new to us). The first day they tried to deliver it my wife and I are already at work and what's worse my wife does not look at the slip that states please reschedule/call by said time or we will try and deliver again next day. So I call after said time when I get home and they said we will try again at the time it states on the slip(when we of course are not home). I tell this to customer servioce I will not be home at this time but they can deliver at specific other times or can I just go to ship center and pick up myself. Told we must first try and deliver 3 times before allowing customer pick-up despite the fact I told them I would not be home. So next day they try and deliver and this time prepared since I see failed delivery on website and call at proper time. I tell them exactly when I can be home for try #3 but they cannot guarantee so I tell them can I please just have it set aside and pick up myself and they agreed finally. Well I think all is well when I go to the shipping area and lo and behold only 3 of the 4 boxes were there. The other just headed off in the truck. It turned out it was the printer which was not in a Gateway box like the other 3. They were like the driver will try and deliver it but if you are not there will have it held and I could come next day and get it. I was like HELL NO, I had them contact the driver and I was only 15 minute from the shippping center and they had the driver bring it when I was there right after picking it up the rest from them not 30 minutes earlier.
FRUSTRATING and funny at the same time at how ass-backwards they were wasting fuel/time when it could of all been resolved after the 1st time I called of either me just picking up everything or them dropping off at the time I specifically stated. It was a 2 hour window first thing in the morning and should not have been an issue since they ended up having to come by my house at the time to drop off the printer. Thanks for rehashing that memory :)

It's odd that nobody was really hyping Crackdown in the previous 360 threads. I figured one of our insiders (one of the mods or reviewers, for instance) would have been telling us more about how good it would turn out. Weird... :shrug:

Also, does anyone know any good sites to get video game news and reviews? Sure, there's 1up and Gamespot, but I wish there was a video game site that was more like these forums...

Crackdown got lost in the Gears of War / Lost Planet hype.

Not to mention the 1up/EGM guys are hyping it pretty well in the podcasts. I'm not one to give a lot of weight to reviews, but they did sell me on Viva Pinata so they are 1 for 1 with me.

I got in on the Halo beta while a friend did not so I think we are going to split it and get Crackdown and he can have that code.

The first one, a real hour. But it's extremely easy to level due to the accelerated leveling rate in the demo.

So you may reach level 2 in a particular skill in the first 10 minutes and the 30 minutes timer kicks in. That would only allow for 40 minutes of total playtime.

The 1up podcast is my new marker for video game reviews. After Viva Pinata and R6 i will now follow their recommendations wholeheartedly.

That's retarded. So essentially it takes longer to download than you have time to play it. Sounds like BS to me.

Nope, it ends after an hour even if you don't level up. An hour is a lot of time for a free demo IMO. It's plenty of time to figure out if you enjoy the game. Plus you can just fire it back up again after your hour is up and play for another hour.

that statement was dependant upon Flays, tbf. I haven't downloaded it yet.


I experienced that with the Tony Hawk Project 8 demo, and it really didn't stop me from playing the demo 10 times over

Personally I had been looking forward to Crackdown since launch but basically had given up on it as it kept getting pushed back. If I recall correctly from EGM at launch time, they had it originally due spring of last year. Judging by what everyone is saying I look forward to finishing downloading it tonight.

I'm depressed...
