This is exactly what happened with the DS, so I'm not worried about the Wii.
When I get one, Wii Sports and Zelda will be enough to last me for months. It will replace the PS2 and Guitar Hero as the system I bust out for parties.
I still don't ever see myself picking up a PS3 - I cannot purchase a game console solely to watch movies on. I just can't.

The scary thing is the fact that EA of all companies has been the only one to show some signs of figuring out the Wii, however, most of its games are ports and it could be argued that the PS2 versions of their games are still the superior ones either in graphics, control or both.
People can bash the PS3 for being overpriced, but thanks to the Blu-ray drive and HD ability my PS3 has been used daily even if its mostly being used for movies, music and PS1-2 games. I will at least say there are several PS3 titles I want when they drop in price. There is currently nothing I want on the Wii other than Paper Mario when it is released.
I've probably put 200 hours of use on my PS3 compared to 30 hours on the Wii I bought a month earlier. The Wii is going to be destined as the system I pull out every 3-4 months to play the big Nintendo 1st party exclusive.

Aside from Zelda and Resistance, both consoles have a crappy line up of games so far. My PS3 has gotten the most use and that's because I'm playing FFXII on it and on occasion Ridge Racer 7. I have not played the Wii since New Years....seriously. Now, my kids still play it on occasion but even their interest has subsided because they're getting bored with it. It's going to be a year, or this Fall I should say, before we start to see more games and more 1st party games for both consoles but I've been disappointed with both so far. Surprisingly, the 360 is getting a majority of my console play time right now, with Crackdown, MLB2K7, Gears of War, Lost Planet and XBLA. Never thought I would own a 360 but I've been happy with it so far. Hopefully, in time, I will feel the same way about the Wii and PS3.

I would advise anyone against purchasing one now but the games are coming and the PS3 will definitely be worth owning then.

Sure I played Rachet and Clank (I know that's staying on PS3) but I also liked Devil May Cry - now available on my 360. I honestly can't think of a single game that I'm interested in on the PS3 that I can't get elsewhere, with the exception of Lair.
So with that said, I don't need a PS3 unless I want to watch Blu-Ray and I'd rather buy a Blu-Ray player.

Why? As of now the PS3 is the best Blu-Ray player on the market...and it's one of the cheapest.

Heehee, if it goes the other way, you can DL saves and play the saves on your PS2
I guess Sony wants you play on the PS3... My PS2 is dead, so i don't really care about the other way, but it's cool if it can....

Actually, the photo album mode is really cool! i created a family photo album under 10 minutes (1 GB of photos!) and the slide is impressive. Together with music on the same card, it's awesome! I'll bet family members will be impressed by the next gathering. Of course, hopefully a new firmware with more options!
The photo slide mode is beter than the Wiis, the pictures are displayed more clearer than the Wii. But i kinda like the dramatic mode in the Wii, it's pretty cool too, too bad the PS3 doesn't have this mode, darn!
Of course, it's more convenient on the PS3, since it takes three different kind of cards...

If Blu-Ray ends up "winning", I still would rather buy a player that did nothing but play Blu-Ray than an "all-in-one" solution.

dude, i'm over 30 and yes i got a Wii, but mostly for the kids. Honestly? it's fun, but it's not designed toward mature audience. Would i ever see games like God of War on the Wii? Errr, females with little clothes? i don't think so...
I'm not talking about super voilent games (like gang related genre), but mature contents, like sex

Folding at home on the PS3, with the 1.60 update.
"You can now download and use the Folding@home™ program. Folding@home™ is a distributed computing project that is run by Stanford University. The goal of the project is to research protein folding mechanisms in the hope that this will lead to medical treatments for related diseases. Using the Folding@home™ program, you can participate in this project over the Internet. Note that the program must first be downloaded and installed on your PS3™ system."

I finally got better at flOw, it's an awesome game! For those of you haven't buy it at $8, man, you're missing one cool little simple game
Two player mode is too clumpsy, you can't go anyway you want, you gotta work together with your partner... But it's very handy when you're attacking (eating) the bigger "fish" (we call it a dragon, since it looks like a sea serpent).
Man, i can't wait to see if i can get my "fish" to grow into a monster like the one about six or seven layers deep.
I don't understand the game title flOw, why? Go with the flow or something?

But $400-600 is way more than I'd every pay for a console, so no 360 or PS3 for now to help fill the gaps. PS3 is out of the question period as Sony's dumb ass repeated arrogant comments has killed any desire I have to buy one.

Eidos holding off on release of most PlayStation 3 titles until 2008
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=23883
Eidos has confirmed that it won't be releasing most of its major PS3 titles until next year, stating that the console's installed base will not be high enough before then.
As part of a statement released alongside the company's interim results for the six months ended December 31 2006, CEO Jane Cavanagh said, "We believe that PlayStation 3 will be a successful platform, and are developing technology and products for this console.
"However, as we do not believe that the installed base will be high enough until the second half of our 2008 financial year, most of our major product releases on the PlayStation 3 platform are not scheduled before that date."
The six month results reveal a rise in revenues for Eidos from GBP 50.1 million to during the same period last year to GBP 74.5 million. Losses stand at GBP 17.9 million - down by GBP 2 million year-on-year.
Cavanagh said that the board of directors also believes the Xbox 360 and Wii will be successful, with Eidos's first titles for Nintendo's machine due out this spring.
"The board believes that the introduction of new consoles will drive strong demand and pricing over the next five years," Cavanagh continued.
"In addition, the increasing opportunities for digital sales to consumers, through PC downloads as well as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, provide the basis for improved margins."
The statement observed that Eidos enjoyed two UK number one hits in the second half of last year with Just Cause and Battlestations Midway, and highlighted the GBP 44 million deal with Warner Bros. that was signed in December.
It also confirmed that the first products from Eidos's new casual games division will be launched in the first six months of 2008, following the acquisition of developer Rockpool Games.

However, I'm getting more and more excited to pick up a PS3 this summer. I'm hoping that by then there'll be more must-have games out, and I'll actually have time to sit down and play all the games that I didn't have time to during the semester.
