Yeah, props to retailers that are more active in this stuff. But, it's still the major responsibility to parents to monitor their kids gaming habits.

It's $50 in the Orange County Fry's. I wasn't going to get this game but with everybody praising it, I'll get it after work. Can't wait to play it.

Doh! I just called my EB and they did not get their shipment of the CEs.
I'll buy it at another store if I see it today, otherwise it might be another couple days until I get a chance to immerse myself in another FPS (which I haven't done since the first Halo really).

OH MY GOD!!! I pretty much never post in the video game forum but let me just say this game has met all of the hype. It looks amazing, the gameplay so far is flawless. Only put in about an hour so far & it is all kinds of awesome.

Just finished Act 1 of the Campaign on Hardcore. BTW, the game automatically awards lower difficulty achievements at the same time; which is the way it should be.
Act 1 took me about 2.25 hours to finish and that's with searching for alot of ammo / dogtags. It's pretty intense so far, easily the best time I've had in single player since the original Halo on the Xbox.
The controls are excellent, but the A button (Cover) takes some getting used to. The A.I. is damn good and have killed me at least 10 times. Also, I have Perfect Reload down to a science. Oh Yeah!

Well this sucks ass...I get to the first
kill him and then the screen fades to black yet I can still hear my guy moving around. I've done it twice so far and it happens each time! What the fuck!
edit: Third time's a charm!

Awesome. I haven't felt this immersed in a game for years.
I decided to make my first experience with this game on the 'Hardcore' difficulty level. Act 1 took me about 3 hours and Act 2 about the same. You really need to get a hang of the controls to enjoy this though.
Only ran into a berserker once so far and that was pretty intense.
The vehicle at the end of Act 2 is cool but has a UV light as its weapon.
Act 3 begins in what appears to be a jungle and it's pouring rain like mad. So far the environments have been interesting and not repetitive.
I don't mind a short game (Achievments list shows 5 Acts) so long as there is enough variety and gameplay to make it worthwhile.
Oh yeah, if you have a grenade equipped and you decide to use it as a melee weapon instead of throwing it, you can attach it to an enemy...sweet!

The game is AMAZING, The camera work in this game is awesome the little touches when you pick things up, kick a door open the camera moves awesome, I LOVE when you run and the camera shakes. The graphics are the best I have ever seen. I played it first on our 38' HDtv then I brought it down stairs again and hooked it back up to our Panasonic AX100 with a 92' screen, It looks amazing, and with 7.1 surround sound awesome, Never been this immersed in a gam in a long time. WOW I havent even tried LIVE yet

Other than that one gripe, I can't recommend this game enough. Oblivion has finally been bested.

After the glitch in the training mode I wasn't sure how the rest of the game would go. I played the game a good bit tonight and I agree with all those saying that it's the best gaming experience I've had in ages. I'm extremely pleased with the game and I haven't even gone into an online match or tried co-op yet. Once I got the gun with the chainsaw on it I was hooked.

The single-player is undoubtedly fun, but the multiplayer is the best multiplayer experience I've had since I don't remember when. Having the matches be something more than just the standard deathmatch has given the whole thing an entirely new dimension. It's awesome to stalk around the maps, jumping from cover to cover, trying to get in the best shots or flank around for a chainsaw kill.

I have to agree that the multiplayer is where it's at. Unfortunately, I don't see it having the lasting power that I hoped. Halo 2's multiplayer replayability seems endless, but this so far only has three modes, all of which are pretty much the same thing. Luckily, the core gameplay is radically different and oddly fun, so it's worth it.

Not sure if this was already mentioned, but....
You can collect the COG TAGS at any difficulty level.
I just played through the first Act on the 'Casual' difficulty level for the first time and realized that I missed one of the Cog tags. When I got to the locations of the other Cog tags, which I picked up on the 'Hardcore' level, they were no longer there.
This is cool because the last thing I would need to worry about is collecting Cog tags when I start playing on the 'Insane' difficulty level.

Played a little of it this morning. It's interesting. Not sure I've ever played a game in this perspective. I don't like the A button does everything. I've already covered when I wanted to be running. Graphics are pretty damn good.

For those still on the fence, Gamerankings (as of 11/9 @ 7:14am) is showing that no less than 19 websites and magazines having rated the game and it is still averaging 94.1%.

I am loving the game so far, but I had a glitch last night that caused me to restart a level. My own teammate was blocking me from going to the next level, he wouldn't move, so I had to restart.

Ouch, that's brutal!
