Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I started playing again casually. Decided to level up my mage and am having a good time with him. Hit 85 a couple of weeks ago and got him ready for heroics. There are still a lot of douches/morons in my battle group, it seems, but I've had a few good runs. Looking forward to checking out the new ZA/ZG instances.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

The new patch hit this week. So raiders are off to the races yet again for gear and realm firsts.

My 10 man group has only been able to down two bosses so far. The bosses seem in some ways more difficult than the last tier. I guess I will know more once we manage to get the 7 down and try the heroic modes.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I was wondering if anyone thinks they might come back to try the Tier 12 raid content now that Blizzard has announced they are nerfing the current tier due to what must be lack of progression from many raiding guilds.

or maybe you dislike the change and will likely leave the game because of it.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

i started playing again recently (after a several month break). My friends were set up as horde on a pvp server so i had to level my only level 80 horde (druid) to 85 and transfer over. I'm playing as boomkin and its pretty fun; hitting like 9-10K dps in heroics which seems exceptable. i doubt i'll ever see a raid again since i still havent had the time to even hit ZA/ZG with my buddies

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I've been playign again, and so has my bro-in-law. We started our own guild, and play a few hours a day if time permits. Right now, we are working on the Molten Front Dailies.

I started gearing up my Prot Pally, and went to a regular 85 (Grim Batol, I believe) to refine my tanking skills as it had been awhile. We get a blue BOE drop, everyone greeds but this one dude who needs.

I didn't say anything because he didn't have any epics, so I figured no big deal. Nobody else spoke up either.

Then another BOE blue drops, ironically the same item. He needs it again. I say something, and he says he pressed the wrong button, and asked if I wanted it. I said to give it to someone else.

Then as the dungeon progresses, he makes little comments after each pull like "OMG" and "LOOK OUT."

Finally, when a green dropped, and he rolled need on it, I yelled "Stop fucking rolling need on everything!"

The exchange between us went like this:

Him: "Learn to tank and I will."
Me: "So you screw the rest of the group out of items because you don't like the way I tank?"
Him: "Plz leave. L2Tank."
Me: "I am just coming back to the game after a long hiatus. Nobody has died yet."
Him: "You have gear."
Me: "Yeah, I earned it."
Him: "You don't roll a class you can't play. I don't know how to heal so I don't roll a healer."

At that point we took a vote and he was kicked

Everyone else said I was doing fine.

I actually am alot better now. Does anyone know the Mastery cap for a prot pally? I looked it up online but it's a bit complicated. Something like Mastery plus Dodge plus Parry Minus Miss or something or other.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I'm getting bored after only being back for 3 months or so. Got my mage geared up and started raiding Tier 11 content with a late night group. Got my pally and hunter to level 85. Then the raiding group broke up, so I'm reduced to Molten Front dailies and heroics every day. Kinda tired of it.

I do notice a much higher percentage of dicks in pugs lately. Not sure what's up with that. Have had to vote-kick people a lot more now than I ever used to.

Anyway, think it's about time for another hiatus. Might check it out again when 4.3 drops...

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

The MF dailies and a bit of farming is all I really need each day. Maybe I'll finally experience places like IC Citadel when the next expansion comes out and everyone has 500k hp

Oh and I know IC is a Wrath raid, but I never went there, and there's no way the next expansion would enable someone to solo Firelands.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I just went to Deepholm, and I'm getting my ass kicked. I'm a mage so cloth is it, but what level should my gear be? It took full health and 2 potions to kill a rockflayer, and I can't even seem to touch the deepstone elementals they absorb everything.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

Why would you be getting hit as a mage? Are you frost? I definitely recommend frost for leveling. Things hit HARD in Cataclysm. As frost, between frost nova, your pet, and ice barrier, you shouldn't be getting hit while fighting.

Have you been upgrading your gear with the drops/quest rewards from Vashj'ir/Hyjal? Even if the combat stats aren't as good as some of your purples, they will have tons more armor/stam on them which is really what you need to survive. Also, running the first couple of dungeons (Throne of the Tides, Blackrock Caverns) will get you a couple of gear pieces too. That might also help.

Nope fire. I figured out that I skipped Hyjal so I probably missed out on a lot of gear. I can't do any of the Cataclysm dungeons because I don't meet the minimum gear (hmmm. no wonder I'm getting pummeled).

There should be a lot of good green gear on the auction house you can use, some of it will be better than most quest drops at your level.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

doing the all the hyjal quests should get you gear for every slot.
buy dual spec and set up one as frost. its a lot more forgiving for leveling.
fire is great for instances where you have a tank; frost is better for leveling alone.

those flayers near the center of deephelm are some of the toughest of the deepholm mobs accounting for level.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

The fourth WoW expansion was announced today at BlizzCon.

Mists of Pandaria.

New race the Pandaren, new class is the Monk.

New vanity pet duels and training/capturing (Pokemon anyone?)

New continent.

Oh and if you subscribe to the WoW annual pass you get a free copy of Diablo III, a new mount, and an invite to the MoP beta. Apparently they let you do your normal montly $14.99 if you want, too. I think it's just a commitment for a year.

Yeah, I won't be buying that expansion. I wonder if Pandaren will all have the Dreamworks face?

Pandaren's and and the Monk class might actually get me to play again, for a little bit. Ugh.

I did this ... I was planning on buying Diablo 3 anyway, and if you pay 6 months at a time, it's a pretty good deal.

For the first time in WoW history, the info about the next expansion has failed to get me excited about playing again. Maybe I am finally tired of this game for good...

Sounds cool to me...I'll probably hop back in for a few months, as I do with all the expansions. I easily get my money's worth.

don't forget that if you end up buying the collectors diablo 3 instead of getting it free from them they will give you 3 free months in it's place.

I'm going to do it, what the hell. I may play again and i get a copy of D3 that i was going to get anyways. And their betas are always fun.

I might actually take a break when the expansion drops. I hate all the crowds trying for the same quest and seeing 32463573468735 of the new class/race, (in this case Panda Monks) walking around.

I stopped playing about 6 months ago but my wife is still currently playing. I like the idea of Monks, honestly. But the new race? Blah...mostly because it's both Horde and Alliance supposedly? That makes no sense at all. My wife doesn't like it either and I think she is actually considering quitting (she's played for six years). I dunno, of all of the races to consider putting in there and they go with Pandas? People are absolutely begging for Murlocs from what I can see. Personally, I would like to see Gnolls but I know I'm in the minority for that.

We just aren't sure anymore.
