Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

Yeah, maybe more info will get me interested, but a lot of what they are adding (pet battles, challenge dungeons with cosmetic rewards) just seem like filler for people who are bored with the game. And I have almost zero interest in leveling another character from scratch. I have three level 85's and two toons that are in the high 70's. I have a druid that I really like just sitting at 42. I have no need for another toon. So far, nothing is really grabbing me. I don't mind the pandas, and the idea of a race that chooses sides as individuals is kind of cool, but right now I don't see anything to draw me back in.

The other issue is that when I play WoW, I tend to do it to the exclusion of all else. Meaning that other video games, movies and TV watching tend to go out the window when I am playing WoW. Not sure I want to head down that road again...

Exactly, this is why I quit. I was barely playing my 360, my reviews were suffering. I didn't even want to go to work. I don't like that feeling. I like variety and I don't mean different races and classes. Life is more than one game, even if that game is WoW.

That is why I quit, after a day at work, where 1/4-1/2 that time was spent online doing research of raids/quests/items, I would get home grab some food and a drink and hop on WoW, then 4-8 hours later go to bed. That is okay when you are single, but married with a kid that is not a good thing; I was truly acting like an addict.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I guess based on this thread it is not surprising WOW lost another 800k subscribers. So far 1.7 million gone in three quarters.

It is almost like Wow hit a wall and people are starting to leave all at once. Once one friend leaves others start to follow I guess.

For a 7 year old game, it's not too surprising. I imagine there will be a pretty big hit when The Old Republic comes out too.

Heh my wife just quit after about 6 years of playing (she says she is taking a break but she seems to be pretty fed up). The new expansion just isn't inspiring awe or interest and I've been gone for a almost a year now and just don't see a reason to come back. I miss my dwarf priest, I miss my troll rogue...but $15 a month to play them? I gotta pass.

The weird thing is that I still like the stuff around the game though. I'll read the books, I'll buy an occasional toy, I'll collect the cards and wear a t-shirt or two. But the game? I dunno.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

I've been playing off/on for the past few months. This expansion was a let down when compared to Lich King, imo. It just hasn't held my interest as long. Also, I loved the Wintergrasp battles and Tol Barad doesn't even come close. Back in Lich King, the first thing I would do when I logged on was check to see when the next WG battle was gonna start. I don't even care about doing TB. They really screwed up that one.

I imagine most people are leaving because of boredom. Like Fumanstan said, the game has been around 7yrs and people are looking for something new. Also I think a good chunk of people left a couple months after Cataclysm came out because of the difficulty of heroics. It wasn't like Lich King where you could run through heroics in 15-20min. Some of the Cataclysm ones took over an hour or more to run due to the players item levels and the difficulty of the dungeons.

I just received an email this weekend offering me 7 free days on my 2 y/o dead account for free with access to all content. Was tempted but had to pass.

If it was the last week of my wife's access, I would have done it (would have been a nice sendoff). But yeah, I would pass now too, unless they threw in a mount or something

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

The recent patch has been like a gear giveaway.

The new looking for raid 25 mans are very easy combined with the new heroics means you can get full 378's very fast.

So far my guild has managed to down the first 6 bosses and got real close to a 7th kill but ran out of time. We hope to have a full clear of the new raid on Monday so we can start heroic modes hopefully next week.

I haven't even done all the regular versions of Cata dungeons, let alone heroics, or the new stuff.

I think I'm right about these numbers

Twilight heroic = 378
Looking for raid = 384
Dragon Souls = 396
Dragon Souls Heroic = 410

And apparently there was a way to exploit the LFR to get gear more than once a week from a boss and some of the top 100 guilds were doing it to gear their whole guilds for the end patch next week. It has been hotfixed, but blizzard is figuring out what to do with these guilds. There are rumors of guild wide bans from multiple eu servers for this.

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

okay so wow is on sale dirt cheap. thinking of getting back into it. but some questions ; last time I played when I died after getting my corpse back I ended up in the same area where the monsters would kill me soon after getting my body back. have they fixed this? Also it seemed majority of the quests were fetch quests that repeated. is there more variety in the quests now? thanks

Re: World of Warcraft Official Thread - Round 3

questing is better now. more "fun" quests and a lot less "gather 20 things" quests.
after you die, your ghost run backs to your corpse but you only have to be kind of near it to come back to life, so you can see where the monsters are and rez further away.

It's been so long since i've played this game but I couldn't pass up the great deal. They also have cataclysm for $20. This is from the Blizzard store.

You can check out http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php for a glimpse of the servers info. That said, I'm on Shandris pve, medium population.

I would say do a PvE server unless you are okay with being killed by other players as you level and quest.

All i really wanna do is Questing solo. I read up on Raiding and it sounds like you need a guild in order to do that. I was looking forward to doing some dungeon crawls. Is that even possible to do Solo? i.e. some dungeons made for soloing and some for groups. I mean Raiding sounds like fun and all but im think i would suck at it
