I've had my eye out on the wii stuff on Buy.com hoping to use the coupon, but no free shipping kills the deal.
The Wiimote is $10 overpriced to begin with, and they are charging $5 shipping per game which eats up half the coupon.

NOTE: The following isn't meant to be a bash of the PS3 or anything like that. I just found it all funny. I'm not even going to say anything really. Instead, I'll just ask a simple question:
Which of the following experiences looks to be the most fun, especially to a casual gamer?
The Wii Experience
The PS3 Experience

They looked overly joyed with the PS3.

A cool Wii commercial would be one that starts off not showing anything having to do with video games. Just show close-ups of a family having a ton of fun together. Father, son, mother, daughter and perhaps other members of a family all just laughing and having a great time, then at the very end pull back the camera and reveal that they are all playing the Wii together.

One of my favorite things is seeing the videos of families play, and especially the one with the elderly couple playing golf. It's something you wouldn't see with anything else. And they are really having fun!
. I am looking forward to getting my mom to play this with us over Thanksgiving.

With a 24-hour Wal-Mart, an 8am Target, and a 11am Best Buy 3 miles from my house now, I'm not at all worried about a pre-order. I'm more worried about having to work Thanksgiving week.

Okay I have a lot of stupid preorder/launch day questions. I know the wii comes out on the 19th for 250 which includes wii sports, but just curious how many units will be coming to u.s.? Will it be much more then the ps3?
I called best buy and the guy said that it's going to be a first come first serve basis and that last year with the 360 people waitied a day or two in advance. I remember getting up at four in the morning for the xbox, but never a day or two. Is he exaggerating ?
And I called the guy at gamestop and he said they're out of preorders but they will probably get more in the day it comes out, so come back then? Was he also full of shit?
And I remember when the other games launched there was sort of an online ticker that let you know when the online stores got the systems in. Is there something like that this year?
sorry for all the stupid questions- thanks

I can't believe I read through this whole thread in one sitting... while working at that! So, I wasn't planning on getting any next-gen systems as the new Zelda game is the only one I am interested in at all, and it will be out for the GC... BUT now that I see that Twighlight Princess will be left wanting on the GC vs. the Wii I am incredibly tempted to go for it! Thanks alot people! You just cost me $300!!!

I went by there at about 1AM the day of launch and there was already about 90 people waiting in line for the 360 already. And mind you live in the Chicagoland area where the temps that night were in the 20's so not a fun time unless you came prepared. Personally I do not see this kind of a wait for the Wii though because of how many are coming out. The PS3 on the other hand, that's another story.

I called two toysus stores and they both said the 29th, but someone on the cag forums said that the ad comes out on friday, the 27th so some toysrus stores might make an exception and take preorders then.
So how early should I get there? If they open at ten? I asked them and they said "just get here when it opens."

I wish they would do these on different days. The PS3 people are going to make this quite an unfriendly event. Not the people themselves, but the sheer number of people that will be out to try and get one forcing unneccesary long lines on people wanting the Wii.
Hopefully the managers have some common sense to quell problems from the get go and turn away 90% of the PS3 people. There is no reason to have a line of people around the building when they probably have some kind of idea on the number of pre-orders available.
Maybe have two seperate lines and give out tickets.
I don't know, I don't have my hopes up though for a smooth event.

The pre-order is an event worthy of out the door lines?!? I think I'll just try my luck on release day... if I get one cool, if not, then whenever I can find one.

Wii's are actually also selling for around $500 or more which is crazy considering the Wii should definitely not be a problem to get on launch as long as you are willing to wait a couple(2-3 hours) before the store opens. The PS3 I would almost guarantee that if you are not in line at least 10 hours in front of one of the big chains you will not get one of those on launch. You of course have your odd stores that no one usually goes to or thinks of which will have a line you can arrive about 3 hours before and snag it but that is luck.

It is a wait for Wii preorders as well. I showed up at my Gamestop an hour and 15 minutes before opening and was 14th in line. Luckily this was a store that is getting a relatively large shipment (took 29 preorders) so I was fine. It was probably 30-45 minutes before opening that the line exceeded the number of preorders.
I was fine waiting a bit over an hour as 1) I wanted to use my store credit and 2) If I waited to launch day I'd be hitting Target or somewhere an hour before opening anyway.

Rough estimates are....
Wii 12-25 per store
PS3/60G 4-10 per store
PS3/20G 1-4 per store

What are TRUs employees-first policies? Becuase I can't see there being any PS3s left after that.
12 Wiis per TRU makes me even more confident that I won't have any problem walking into a store on 11/19 and picking one up.
Now, if TRU has some sort of pre-order deal like Canada seemed to have, I'd be more than happy to listen.
