Ah.. I found out over the weekend that most of my friends will be going to an out-of-town wedding on Wii weekend. Oh well, I've still got some friends that didn't want anything to do with the wedding and they're even more excited to join me on the midnight Wii express because of that.

Thanks. Any price or bundle info on those pages?

Weddings are boring - you've made the right choice.

This is a screen cap from the web site, and I honestly don't remember seeing any in the magazine. I will double check when I get home, though.

Looks like Zelda.

From the specs tab:

1 Wii Remote
1 Nunchuk
Wii Sports Game Disc w/ 5 games (Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling and Boxing)
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Game
Power cord
Sensor bar
Standard AV composite cable

Kudos for them offering up a game people want though. Unfortunately I have it paid for elsewhere already. I was hoping for an extra Wiimote/Nunchuck.

I may have to see about getting a hold of a Sam's membership for the launch. That's a bundle that'll work for me.

I wonder how much they'll charge for that bundle. I'd go to Sam's for that.

I saw in a Wii brochure at Target that they will give you a $20 Target GC with the purchase of 3 games, on launch day only.

I know it keeps being stated over and over that you should have no problem finding a Wii, but is the actual allocation breakdown* enough proof?

*if true

Sweet. Looks like between Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and TRU, I should have a decent chance of scoring all 4 that I need to get for Christmas at launch.

I really want to get the Wii from TRU, b/c i got some GCs to burn. However, three local TRUs have the Wii sold out on pre-order day (10/29). This means, on launch day, there won't be any, right? I remember one TRU had 40 pre-order Wiis. From what people posted about Target, 40 Wiis at TRU is very messed up!

Is this the sort of SD card that will work with the Wii? This one is a 2gb card for around $20 after the discounts:

Don't know, but if it is, rest assured that the cover community will rectify that.

Okay, I've beaten Tales of the Abyss (it wasn't as long as I had feared, thankfully).. though according to my map I missed three dungeons (?!) and it seems like every town I revisit has new crap to do.. but anyway, that's essentially what I wanted to get out of the way before Wii mania started! I'll probably play that for a couple more days and then take a week break from console gaming.

I need some help though.. Best Buy has a 1080p 42" LCD for $1500 and I keep being tempting to get that before I get the Wii so I can enjoy everything in widescreen.. someone convince me not to do this!! Someone give me something to take my mind away from Zelda in 16x9..!

LCD's are crappy for movies IMO. Not being able to do true blacks drives me nuts even on the better LCD sets, but it doesn't bother some.

They do look fantastic with games though. Some people see ghosting on them, but I've not noticed that.

I was hoping to finish Okami before then, but it's not going to happen. I've been out of town since last Wednesday, my mother is coming to visit this weekend, and I have a long paper due the end of the month that I haven't started.

So now I'll have to decide whether to hold off on Zelda, or to just put Okami on the side until Zelda is done.

Westinghouse LVM-42W2.

Reviews are glowingly positive with most complaints being about needing a firmware update and not having user accessible RGB controls (both being minor in the long run). I'm just nervous because other TVs with those specs/size start at about $2500! I think pinata242 has this screen. My other major concern is how soft things will look in its non-native resolution as most of my use will be PS2/Cube/Wii/DVD at 480i and 480p for at least the next half year.

I do have the LVM-42W2. My FW is 1.16 and I've been trying for 3 months to get Westy out to update it. My buddy has FW 1.19 and hasn't had any of my problems. Also got it from BB so I imagine all their stock is up-to-date.

I haven't had any problems with 480i SD signals or my 480p DVD player. I haven't hooked a non-HD console up to it, though. If there's any softness there, it isn't enough for me to notice. Of course, my eyes are about 12 feet away from the screen when I watch.

I love it and for $1500, I think the price is right. I imagine that we'll see price drops after the Holidays, maybe around the Superbowl (maybe just after).

Just make sure you can get the Component cable for the Wii on release day. That is the situation I'm in now... I need that cable before I can hook it up to my 110" front projector. I refuse to play it with the composite video cable. But the rumor right now is that we can get it on release day, so i am hoping this holds true.
