Retired
Seems like the conference has started, but the Keynote address isn't until 1 am EST.
At least that's on a couple of sites.
Anyway, I'm done and will find out in the morning I guess. Too tired to stay up that late tonight.

I'm just providing noteworthy links people, don't blame me for lies...
In a move that may allow Nintendo of Japan to take advantage of stumbles by its main rival, the company plans to announce today that it will release its new Wii video-game console in North and South America on Nov. 19, just as the holiday shopping season begins, and that the machine will cost $250 in the United States.

Sounds like one of the predictions from the Gamespot people. Everything I've heard from Nintendo says they want the Wii out at least a few weeks before the PS3, not two days after.

Well, while we wait impatiently for info, I noticed IGN posted some screen shots of how Marvel Ultimate Alliance will look on the Wii:

I don't know about you, but some of those, especially the first, look better than general GC graphics. Still, unless the control scheme with the remote is just AWESOME, I'll get the 360 version of this one.

I agree, and at $250, if MS offers a 360/Gears of War bundle for $400...that may knock a little more wind of their sails as well..

$250 would still be palatable if they release it sometime in October. If they really launch right at the same time as the PS3, I think they will find their sales will lag behind the 360. The system needs a few weeks to build word of mouth.

A $250 price point in mid-November has definitely dropped this from a "must have on release day item" to an "I'll get it when I can" purchase.
I'll wait for official word on price and release date before I write it completely off of my anticipated 2006 expenses, though.

So apparently the link I posted earlier is in fact the one to follow.

That link goes nowhere on my browser.
Edit: Nevermind. I got it to work.
Man, I really hope that isn't true. Nintendo has been so incredibly smart about everything regarding the Wii, why screw up now? *sigh*

Actually mildly disappointing news, considering all the hype and optimistic speculation about the price and release date. They seem to be following the Xbox Live pricing structure for retro games, which continues an annoying trend... you have collections from Namco, Midway, Capcom, etc. offering 15+ classic titles for around 20 bucks. Now we're expected to pay $5 or more for a single classic title? Nintendo is so schizophrenic on this front. One moment they're tossing NES titles onto inexpensive eReader cards, or giving away the entire Zelda back catalog as a preorder freebie, the next they're charging $20 for single NES titles for the GBA in the 'NES Classics' line.

Exactly. Nintendo said they didn't want a simultaneous launch, so Nov. 19 could be Japan, leaving us somewhere else.
Also yen rates rarely convert 1:1 when it comes to gaming. So I don't think that $250 has any weight to it either.
I'll wait until the US announcement in the morning before I start judging.
So I'm going to bed.
