Oddly, GameSpot (who Joystiq cited as the source for their list) also include Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Rapala Tournament Fishing, and World Series of Poker on their list of launch titles, but Joystiq leaves them out.

Legend of Zelda (of course) and Trauma Center are must haves for me. The Rayman game also looked like fun. Sadly, none of the rest are anything I would buy. But I can still play all my GC games on it, anyway. And Zelda will take up plenty of time.

Zelda is it for me. Possibly Madden if the Wii version ends up being good, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
But I too have very little time now, so Zelda will be more than enough, and any extra time can go toward the killer DS lineup.

Hell, we should all buy Rayman so Ancel can wheelbarrow his balls into Ubisoft's office and DEMAND that they allow him to make Beyond Good and Evil 2 (and as a Wii exclusive). Ah, wishful thinking I suppose.

I guess we can't bitch much since there hasn't been a lot of killer launch game for a while.
Probably since Mario 64. The PS2 had crap, the GCs best was Star Wars Rogue Leader. PSP and DS had crap.
The X-box did have Halo which is one exception I guess, and the Dreamcast had Soul Calibur 2 and NFL2K, but that was 7 years ago.

From that list, the only one that is a 100% for sure buy for me is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Other than that, I'm interested in the following, depending on reviews:
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Rayman: Raving Rabbids
RED STEEL
Other games, like Call of Duty 3 and Madden, I wouldn't buy for the Wii anyway since I have a 360. The only way I'll buy a multi-platform game for the Wii is if it flat out got better reviews, and that would mainly be because of some sort of cool and interesting use of the controller. For me, and I'm sure for many others, it's Wii exclusives for the most part.

I'm hoping all developers follow Nintendo's lead and stay region-free. That way I can at least play DQ Swords if it never comes here. Still, if there's one company to cockblock me, it's certainly Square-Enix...

I think Zelda will be it though.. I've just really tepid about it, I've been nervous as hell ever since they said it was being made for the American audience. If Zelda is good and I can grab two third party titles, I'll be okay.. and just hope that Nintendo has something else out by January.

As someone who expected a $200 price tag and an October launch, I was a bit disappointed with today's news. The lack of a second controller being packed in is puzzling given Nintendo's message of bringing the whole family together to play. The controller prices are a little higher than I'd like, but acceptable given the tech that powers them. Metroid's release date slip is sad, since it was high on my list of anticipated games. And the November 19th release date is surprising. The October rumors were in full force the last few weeks, and they seemed to have some validity. Too bad that didn't pan out. But the real surprise is that the launch is after the PS2. Odd choice there - I'd imagine they could have made the launch just a week earlier, if only for effect. I think the only explanation for the mid/late November launch is to ensure that they have plenty of consoles in the pipe to avoid quick sellouts and eBay profiteering. That's definitely a good thing, but having to wait the extra month is a real buzz kill. At least they have a decent amount of time to advertise and get some name recognition prior to launch. I'm still there on day one, but it would be hard to spin these announcements as being positive.

nope. you have your numbers wrong. Even the first N64 games are well over 4 megs.
N64 games
goldeneye: 14MB zipped
Smash Bros: 13 MB zipped
Zelda OOT: 26 MB zipped
Zelda MM: 32 MB zipped
Bond TWINN: 39 MB zipped
Pokemon Stadium 2: 43 MB zipped
Kirby: 32 MB zipped
NES games
Range from 4K zipped to 150K zipped
SNES games
Range from 256K zipped to 4MB zipped
But I don't expect NES and SNES games to be an issue. N64 would be, especially for the more advanced and later released games.
But Nintendo wants the system to store more... Internet data, game saves, possibly game data, movies, photos, etc). 512MB is little this day and age... it gets eaten up fast. So if Nintendo is trying to do as much as their competators (and obviosuly they are now) are then they are seriously lacking disc space in comparison
Do you honestly thin Nintendo will ship with 512 MB free space? keep dreaming.

But still made record profits.
Sega lost money on everything put out after the Genesis. So by the time the Dreamcast launched, they'd already failed, and pissed off gamers, with the Sega CD and 32x add ons, and the Saturn.
Nintendo has lost ground, but hasn't failed with anything other than the Virtual Boy which has long since been forgot.
Big difference.

My 2 cents to the launch details.
The price of $250 isn't that good. We Europeans will have to pay 250 Euro (~ $320) because the companys always just replace the Dollar sign with an Euro sign.
$40 Wiimote + $20 Nunchuck = $60 = 60 Euro....haha.....180 Euro for a double in Tennis. Great.
Of course we need something to store Virtual Console Games. SD Card was the medium? Another 30 bucks. Nintendo ALWAYS just puts the cheap Video/Audio cables in the box. So 15-20 Euro for a RGB cable (well, Americans don't need that of course).
For a two player Wii that equals: 360 Euro (~ $460). Around Christmas I will probably get a Xbox 360 + game for that price.
And regarding the Virtual Console thing.....$5 for NES games.....yes.....right...

One thing you are ignoring, is that by the time it has enough games out, and has generated enough buzz to get the attention of casual gamers and non-gamers who don't follow gaming news like you do, there may be a price drop on the console and VC games etc.
Time will tell if nintendo can grab those folks. I agree that they aren't buying in at the current pricing scheme, but I doubt many of them would buy in right now even if it was $150-200 period.
