No major problems with the GC. With all electronics, some break, but there wasn't any relatively widespread problems with launch units like with the thompson x-box drives or ps2 disc read errors.

Yeah, I got a GC at launch and it still works perfect now. I play that more than any other system too.

In my 20 years of gaming my Nintendo hardware has always been the best built and lasts to this day. The one exception, being of course, the cured NES contacts. (Requires the blowing)

Anyway, here is scientific evidence on Nintendo hardware superiority: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...96466152991472

There are actually a handful of new articles on IGN about the Revolution, this was part of one of them.

That is also what Microsoft and Sony said about PS2 and X360 specifically. I remember huge shortages on both.

IGN has an inside scoop about an exlcusive Sonic title, to take advantage of the controller, that has been underway for two months already. Possible launch title next to a Mario title?

Could be interesting.

I mentions crossovers as well, could we see sonic & pals in Smash Bros? Mario Golf? Mario Party? Could be very cool.

Sonic, Tails, and who else again?

I like the idea of crossovers too...

Super Smash Brothers would be the coolest with Sonic and Ecco the Dolphin as playable characters. And imagine, the trophy count can go up to 500 now! I still don't understand why the guy from Adventure Island or Lolo isn't in Super Smash Brothers (aren't they made by Hal?).

This is not real, so let's just get that out of the way. Someone on the IGN boards put it together, but I thought it was so funny when I saw it:

Where's that graph from? According to its totals, 85% of respondents will own a Revolution, compared to just 48% for PS3 and 46% for XBox 360. Seems pretty farfetched...

It's from joystiq. 1up.com's audience tells a different story:
* 77% plan to purchase a new game system in the next year
* 45% say they are likely to buy a portable or handheld system
* 17% of 1UP.com users had already bought Microsoft's next-generation Xbox 360 gaming console, and among users who say they're likely to purchase a system in the next year, 59% of them plan to purchase the Xbox 360
* 73% plan to purchase a Sony PlayStation 3.
* Half of gamers on 1UP.com also say they will purchase a Nintendo Revolution.

I'll end up with a Revolution (as long as the games don't end up being gimmicky and maybe a PS3. I don't have much time for gaming with a busy work and Ph D schedule, so I may just wait and pick the one of those two that has the most games I want to play.

360 is out as MS has done nothing to get more games that match my tastes, and I don't need another expensive console gathering dust like my X-box has largely done.

I think I'll be buying a Revolution at launch (pending launch games obviously) and a PS3 a year or two down the line when there are a few good titles out and a price drop. Something like Dragon Quest IX or Kingdom Hearts III could speed up a PS3 purchase but I think I'll be content waiting on that one. Xbox 360 is a possibility, but every day the possibility gets smaller.. I don't think even Blue Dragon will be enough for me to get one (rent one, maybe). I will at least buy a 360 controllers for my PC at some point.

I'll be getting a Revolution at launch. Got the last two Nintendo consoles at launch so I might as well get this. Even if the launch lineup isn't that great (there's usually one or two that I'd like) I could always download old titles to the system. It's been a long time since I've play SMB 3. What I'm really hoping for is Super Dodge Ball. I'll eventually get a 360 and a PS3. Probably the 360 before the PS since I love Halo and Dead or Alive. I'll probably get both of those systems refurbished though.

I'll have all 3 eventually.

I'll probably get a Revolution at launch. Most likely I'll wait for the first price drop on the PS3 though.

I want to buy a Revolution at launch. Nintendo needs to have at least a couple of legitimate WOW games from day one and a pretty exciting first-year lineup for me to pull the trigger, though. I can live with sub-par third-party support at the outset, but I am not interested in another Cube. Unless the Virtual Console games have online play, I can't imagine buying too many since I still have my NES, SNES and N64.

I'll buy a PS3 at some point, too.

First, I kept saying I was going to get the Revolution first. But I caved and got the 360 a couple of weeks ago.

I'm assuming the Revolution comes out next? If so, I'll be getting it at launch. The PS3 I may wait on. If the Blu-Ray player in it is up to par, I may get it earlier. Plus, I want to see how their online gaming works out. XBOX Live is superb, imo.

There has been lots of positive feedback from developers regarding the Revolution, but here is one of the exceptions:
CEO of 3D Realms, Scott Miller has updated his official blog and expressed his views on the next generation consoles. On his blog, Miller makes predictions about the three major consoles and where they will end up with gamers.

"My prediction for this new round of consoles is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 will wind up about equal in terms of sales, with Nintendo's Revolution coming in a distant third." said Miller. "Perhaps this will be the last console from Nintendo."

3D Realms is currently working on Duke Nukem Forever which has been in development since 1997. Though Miller did have one last thing to say about the console.

"I cannont comment on the Revolution's controller until I try one." Miller comments.
