nothing at the walmart or target i hit when they opened. the electronics department employees are aware of the "weekly shipment" info on the internet and said specifically they have not been given any info. the walmart guy said there are "none on order".

So have any of the places you guys checked even acknowledge the possibility of getting any in this weekend? Or are they still playing it dumb?

Your best bet is selling on ebay or take it back to wal-mart (they dont require receipts). Personally, im gonna sell the things I dont want on ebay to make my money back.
Thanks! Walmart it is then.

So they're claiming they're not even trying to get any instock (they haven't ordered any)?

Disregard anything any employee says. BTW, for those who tried today, since these are coming in on drop shipments, there's a chance that UPS or FEDEX hasn't made their drops yet.

A lot of times the department level people do not know what is on order, they have no access to that information, so them not knowing would not be that odd.

I think this afternoon will be a better time to check, as UPS often will show up after 9:00am and the earliest next day is guaranteed is 9:30 and MS probably saved money and just shipped Next Day (w/o 9:30 delivery) and these shipments could show up any point in the day.

I wasn't in any way implying that I thought it was true. I was more pointing out how stupid the employees are to even suggest the store had "none on order".

I finally snagged a 360 bundle off Amazon last night.. it sure beats the madness of going store to store being disappointed... should have it by tuesday. I only hope and pray Sony overproduces for launch of the PS3 instead of this madness...but they will probably see this and follow the same formula as it is keeping MS in the news.

Nothing at any of the stores I stopped at. Even though Best Buy was supposed to be open at 9, they still had the security gate down at 9:30. I didn't feel like sitting there for another half hour so I left.

Exactly, it could be anytime during the day. Just look at the online sites. They randomly get them during the day and post them. There is no scheduled time.

Here in Prescott, AZ the local Target did not have any. They too are stating that they will not be getting any until after Christmas.

For what it's worth, I think Saturday morning might be a better day to look for one. If retailers receive more 360's in limited quantities, it could get ugly out on the floor when they put them out.
Friday night after closing they stock them on shelves. Saturday morning the boxes are sitting on shelves on a first-come-first-serve basis.

When I called around (yes I'm lazy) I got one outright liar who said "not until march" and one honest answer "they'll be coming in when we see them in".

True, but more people will probably be waiting on Saturday mornings before the store opens. Its all a guessing game.

My suggestion - get some sort of webpage monitor select all the online stores and have it blare an alarm when it changes (if you can be at home). Run in and buy it immediately. I honestly think that is the best way to get one. Chances are higher since some of the online stores seem to get them in randomly. I did it for HD tivos and it worked!

I talked with someone I know that works at Meijer in Mishawaka, IN and he said they received an e-mail stating that they have them in the warehouse but won't be sending any until a week before christmas. I hope that not all the retailers do that since there are people saying BB will not be releasing their shipments until the 18th. Sorry if someone has already posted this about Meijer.

I don't know how often Meijer updates their website but it does give you the option to see if there are any in stock in your location of choice.

A co-worker just talked to a manager at Circuit City. He said they will be in soon, not clear soon today or soon in the next 5 days. But he did say you could put money down to hold one. At lunch he is going to put some down on one for both of us. Here's hoping!!

Sorry to take this thread off track, but that reminds me of trying to find a PS2 the week before it came out. I had a monitor set up to check a few store sites. Instead of playing the default sound, I thought I would be clever and play some movie clip instead (forgot what I used). I turned up the volume real loud because my computer was in a room we use as an office in our basement, just in case I was upstairs 2 floors away. Well one night at like 2 am I was down in my basement playing video games in the room next to the office. Suddenly I hear this man's voice talking really loud right behind me - I almost crapped my pants right then and there . Worst of all, the alarm was a false alarm, the page I had been monitoring went down which caused the alarm to go off for some reason.

Okay Circuit City was requiring $80 deposit. I put mine down and I am #8 on the list, hopefully this goes good, and no more calling/running around to stores.

What is a good web page monitor? I found a firefox extension but it doesn't work well. It tells me that amazon's mature bundle page is updated about every 5 minutes. However the site is not updated.

I am about to give up on my search. If I cannot find one by the end of next week I am going to order ebgames.coms ultimate bundle and wait it out.

Someone actually robbed and took hostages at our Best Buy last week. Took around 10 grand I think. Had a couple of accomplices, they didn't make it far the cops nabbed 'em right down the road and recovered ALL the money. Idiots.

Well, after calling Target at 8, I dropped by on my way to class at 11, and then dropped by again on my way home at 2, and I got nothin'. Oh, and I stopped at Wal-Mart as well, and guess what? Nothin'...

These places are so busy I fear even if they did get some they'd be gone in a second...

I talked the manager at a gamestop in Austin, and he said that he's gotten three small shipments of 360's (4-8 per shipment), but they are all going to pre-orders. At least they are trickling in.

I may go in to work early and stop at Sears and FYE to see if they got any. Apparently yesterday a woman went into Sears, asked for 360s, and someone said, "We have them, but the manager is holding them in the back." So then the woman got the manager and had to get into a fight with her before the manager would let her take the 360. Customer service is dead.

And the irony is, it was a core system.

Why was he holding them?
