The Edge review (of the japanese release) gave it a 6 and picked on mainly presentation aspects. Bad lip syncing in cut scenes and also how cut scenes could interrupt your special move! Core gameplay was fun.

It downloaded fine at 6:30pm today. About to try it right now.
Edit.
Just tried it out, solid game with some decent graphics although hardly anything id call next gen. Fun tho, first time me trying out the Hitman series and it was definetly entertaining.

I D/L Hitman last night but did not get a chance to play. I think it took 1.5 hours....not sure as I was watching the Tigers game. Didn't get a chance to play it though. I never really liked the games TOO much, but it did keep my interest a bit in the past. Not a big stealthy guy.

Just finished the Hitman demo not bad, I am just awful at stealth
. I kept running into people instead of sneaking up behind them, oh well got through it somehow. I liked that you could save in the demo.

Sweet, IGN posted a story about the Dashboard update that's supposed to happen next week.

Quite a few things listed, but I think this is what everyone's been waiting for:
Another small, yet nice, update is that you have the option to boot straight to the Dashboard when you start up your xbox, even if there is a disc in the tray.

You also can prioritize the order in which you download the items mid-stream, if you want to. Finally, if you want to play a multiplayer game, the downloads will automatically stop and pick up when you finish playing online. Nifty.

Msoft will also be loading camera setting to the 360 so the Xbox 360 camera will be fully supported when it hits in September. You might notice some stuff in the menus you can't use, but it's there because it's embedded in the update, you might notice things like a video chat option and the ability to take your picture and use it as your Gamertag image. Woo Hoo!

That is how I turn my system on 9 times out of 10. The controller is right near me, press the xbox button, wait for game to start to boot up, press xbox button, y to choose dashboard, yes to exit. Viola, dashboard.
So, booting right the the dashboard will be a nice thing. I ususally leave the game I've played last in there, as its mostly the game I'll play next. So having to take it out each time, or eject it to get the the dashboard at bootup is a hassle.

I'm looking forward to this update for the unspecified media player enhancements. I know that it is too much to ask for a fix to the 360's UPnP client code in this update, but I keep hope alive.

SO, is JUNE a slow month for game releases? It appears nothing too exciting is coming out for the 360 this month. MotoGP (which I was not impressed with). I see EBgames has a bunch of 6/1/06 release dates, but I think those are still placeholders for 3rd QTR.

The bolded part is great because it was becoming next to impossible to only see the newest stuff available.

Microsoft plans first major overhaul of Xbox Live

Boot to dashboard, better media functions, and background downloading - at last!
The Xbox 360 is to receive its first major update in the coming weeks, with new features including background downloading, direct booting to the dashboard and improved media functions all set to be included.
Details of the update have been revealed both officially by Microsoft spokespeople and in an accidental leak through the firm's Knowledge Base system, where details of some new functions were published briefly ahead of time.
The most important enhancements in the new update, which is expected to arrive within the next fortnight, will be to the functionality of Xbox Live Marketplace - the content download system which has proved wildly more successful than Microsoft originally predicted.
The interface for locating content on Marketplace will be significantly improved with the addition of new categories, which subdivide the content into more easily manageable groups, and a specific function within each category to view only recently added items.
This will help to solve the problems which have arisen with navigating the service in recent months, as there are now over 1000 pieces of content on the service, but it has not been significantly reorganised since it launched in November.
Perhaps the most sought-after feature which will be added in the new update is background downloading, which will allow users to set up a queue of content to download which will continue to execute while they do other things on the system.
Media functionality will also be enhanced, with better control over the playback of downloaded video clips, the ability to place bookmarks in DVD video content, and consistent playlists which continue working as you switch between functions on the console.
It will also be possible to directly boot to the Dashboard rather than to the disc in the drive, a much-requested feature on the part of those who use the Xbox 360 as a media extender.
