US Launch titles from Gamespot:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/10...s_6109936.html
SEATTLE--Helping stoke the fires of hype leading up to the DS' November 21 release, Nintendo officially announced the initial list of North American launch titles for the portable device.
While the list sported staples of the US game market like Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 2005 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005, it also contained a few surprises. Sega's dating game Feel the Magic XY/XX--formerly known as "Project Rub"--will be on store shelves in November, as will Namco's Mr. Driller Drill Spirits and Ridge Racer DS. The complete list of US launch titles is below:
Asphalt Urban GT
Feel the Magic: XY/XX
Madden NFL 2005
Metroid Prime: Hunters (demo bundled with the DS)
Mr. Driller Drill Spirits
Ping Pals
PictoChat (built-in)
Rayman DS
Ridge Racer DS
Spider-Man 2
Super Mario 64 DS
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
The Urbz: Sims in the City
Though numbering just over a dozen, the official launch titles will be followed by a slew of other North American releases, outlined in GameSpot's full coverage of the Seattle Nintendo event.

The launch titles are not overwhelming, but Madden has me interested. The console versions have really become overcomplicated and I wouldn't mind going back to an easier to play version.
Advance Wars is going to be excellent. It will be more like a PC game since you can click the screen to issue orders.

Just finished watching the Mario 16 minute demo and damn they did a lot more with that game than I was expecting. Definitely buying it as my launch game. You can play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi or Wario in the main game as well as multiplayer, plus new levels (150 stars now to collect) and minigames that look fun. A major upgrade especially now that you can use the strategy of going through different levels with different characters depending on their abilities. Mario eating a mushroom and growing was damn cool as well.

Well, I'm definitely not going to pick up an SP as I planned, and will most likely pick this up at launch. It just sounds too damn exciting to pass up.

Nice to see a $30 price point for the games. Mario I'll pick up at launch but I'm torn about the others. I know my wife will pick up Puppy Times whenever that comes out. So much cool stuff ie; Final Fantasy III, Meteos, downloadable demos/content and single cart-multi player. The Warp Pipe project still has an announcement as well. Word.

Y'know, all the features sound really cool and all and I'll be getting one for x-mas. But I would love, for just once, if a hand held came with a peripheral or A/V jacks built in so that you could hook it up to a tv out of the box. It seems like such a no brainer feature. The DS would act like a controller (like those namco classic handheld arcades that hook up to the tv). I don't even know if this is possible, but it would greatly sweeten the deal for me as I don't really use handhelds outside of my house. Especially if some of the games are going to be 32 bit quality.

And the best innovation? The bottom screen lets us see a little leg...

It's not just the price that concerns me, but the fact that this is more like a GBA 1.5 than the next Gameboy. Nintendo's even admitted as much, which makes me hesitant to invest in a system that may have a limited shelflife (maybe not as bad as the Virtual Boy, but still).

Seriously, the Advance Wars game (in addition to Animal Crossing and FFIII), the 30 dollar software pricepoint, the backward compatability, and the fact that up to this point, at the very least the PSP won't blow this out of the water all convinced me. If the wireless vision is true, that's icing on the cake.
I was most worried about being stuck with another Dreamcast, which was an incredible system and had incredible games but had a short lifespan because of the superior, if more expensive PS2 coming out shortly after. The PSP may well come in at a lower pricepoint than we all suspect, but it still doesn't look to be a direct competitor with the DS...

Major DS leak reveals new Zelda and Pokemon titles, single-cart multiplayer

No more surprises as Seattle press event details hit the 'net ahead of time
Full details of the Nintendo DS press conference in Seattle tonight have been leaked ahead of the event, in an embarrassing mishap for the console giant which has revealed all of the firm's planned surprises in one swoop.
Perhaps most exciting is the news that Shigeru Miyamoto will follow his hugely popular appearance at E3 this May, where he unveiled a new Cube Zelda title, with a similar appearance to announce a Legend of Zelda: Four Swords title for DS.
The company also plans to reveal that you'll be able to download games wirelessly from one another and play them together, allowing DS owners to engage in multiplayer using just one cartridge. It's a feature Nintendo calls "Game Sharing".
President Satoru Iwata will then announce that time-restricted demo versions of games will be available to download at retailers, and that the console's connectivity even extends to the silver screen; fans of the Pokémon movies will have bonus materials beamed to their handhelds if they happen to have a Game Boy Advance Pokémon title in the DS' cartridge slot.
A new Pokémon game, Pokémon Diamond, will also be confirmed, while Japanese launch title Pokémon Dash will be demoed to the assembled hacks in Seattle, and the president of the Pokémon Company will demonstrate how to unlock bonuses by inserting GBA Pokémon games into the DS.
Echoing news that emerged from Japan this morning, reports also suggest that Square Enix will confirm that Final Fantasy III - the last untranslated NES RPG in the FF series - will be overhauled and released on the DS.
Shigeru Miyamoto is expected to demonstrate games including Super Mario 64 DS and Nintendogs, while SEGA's Yuji Naka will demo Feel the Magic: XY-XX (formerly Project Rub) and confirm that a Sonic DS title is in development.
Although Nintendo has yet to confirm any of the above details, the detail of the revelations - right down to the order of the speakers - leaves us in little doubt that they're genuine, and that the leak came either from somebody involved in producing the event or a senior member of Nintendo's staff.
Earlier today, the company officially confirmed a preliminary roster of the titles due out in the 30 days following the system's November 21st US launch.
Don't know if this mentions anything new.

Nintendo DS to launch with up to 10 titles, $29.99 software price point
Rob Fahey 09:59 07/10/2004
Games to be cheaper than GBA titles, Super Mario 64 DS to launch with the console
Further details of Nintendo's plans for the imminent launch of the Nintendo DS handheld in the USA have emerged today, with the firm planning eight to twelve launch titles for the console at a $29.99 price point.
The company is due to hold a press conference in Seattle later today where the full line-up will be unveiled, but early leaks have revealed a number of key details about the launch software for the console.
Nintendo itself is to launch the console alongside Super Mario 64 DS (originally called Super Mario 64x4), which will feature Luigi, Yoshi and Wario as new playable characters, each with their own unique abilities and set of stylus-driven minigames.
Third-party publishers will provide the remainder of the line-up, with titles expected from Activision (Spider-Man 2), Electronic Arts (Madden NFL, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, The Urbz: Sims in the City), THQ (Ping Pals) and Sega (Feel the Magic: XY-XX).
Following the launch, an impressive range of first- and third-party software is planned for the early life of the console, including first-party titles such the full version of Metroid Prime: Hunters (a demo of which is bundled with the system hardware), a multiplayer-enabled Mario Kart game, and DS versions of Animal Crossing, Advance Wars and WarioWare.
Third-party software promised for the system includes Ridge Racer from Namco, Viewtiful Joe from Capcom, Bomberman from Hudson, Rayman and Asphalt GT from Ubisoft, and a new Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles title from Square Enix.
The Japanese press conference, meanwhile, has revealed that the Japanese launch of the system will also be accompanied by a Pokemon title, Pokemon Dash, and that Square Enix is also working on a version of Final Fantasy III for the system.
Interestingly, the firm appears to have responded to criticism that GBA titles are too expensive by pitching the price point of DS games at a lower level; all of the launch titles will arrive at $29.99, which is between $5 and $10 cheaper than the usual prices of GBA games.
The launch titles for the system are expected to exploit the unique features of the dual-screened, touch-sensitive console to varying degrees. Nintendo's own first-party titles reportedly exploit the console's functionality to the full, while games such as Spider-Man 2 only use the stylus for menu navigation.
