That's a huge block of plastic!! FYI cargo pants are OUT so this is NOT going to fit in my pocket.

I like the size of the game...that's small.

What do you mean cargo pants are out?

I've got a closet full of them and they are great for hiking.

I love all of those extra pockets. Or are you talking about long cargo pants? Cause I would never own one of those. I'm talking about cargo short pants.

Chris

The DS is like the John Kerry of handhelds - ugly, a seemingly bad idea, at first everyone hated it, but after the debates (articles and press releases) they are considering buying one. Even me.

This is sounding a hell of a lot better, but after buying the gbc and then the gba then the gba sp I think I'm going to wait until a newer model comes out. Ds-sp or whatever they're going to call it.

Also none of the games at launch seem that great to me, I've played mario far too many times and am not really into pokemon. But once Final Fantasy and Zelda make the leap I'll consider it, but by the time they do I bet a newer model will have came out.

Actually, that's not what the DS will look like. That's a much earlier build of the unit. The actual DS looks a lot sleeker, has stereo speakers, has power on left, start/select on right.

Here's a (much smaller) pic of the final model:

Single best description of it I have heard.

I defintely disliked the thing when first announced, but Nintendo has won me over.

Still not sure about Kerry though.

Oops sorry, I don't know why that website still has that picture up. Your picture looks a lot better. I was wondering where the speakers were in my picture!

I'm definitely gonna get this at launch now. I thought Mario 64 DS was just some lame multiplayer game...had no idea it was basically a port of Mario 64 + a bunch of new stuff.

Anyone seen screenshots of the new Castlevania? That and Metroid Prime Hunters are 2 other must buys for me when they come out.

That's what I've been saying. It's not going to fit in your pocket, even a cargo pant pocket!

It looks like it's about the size of a Gamegear - maybe a bit smaller.

Honestly, one of the most important things for me is that most of the games seem to still have that essence of the 16 bit era. In other words 2D gaming with 3D gaming where it applies.

One of the things I was worried about was that with this next generation of handheld gaming will come a whole slew of substandard ugly looking 3D games. That is one reason why I really like the GBA is because of the types of games that come out for it.

Call it nostalgia or whatever but I really do enjoy 2D gaming ESPECIALLY on a handheld. I don't know how well 3D gaming will work on a handheld. I might be sick from playing it on such a tiny screen.

The DS is going to be absolutely amazing if Nintendo delivers on the wireless multiplayer aspects that are announced/rumored. If this stuff is true, I don't see how the next batch of consoles could begin to compete with such an organic solution and the content - MK, AC, SSB - Nintendo will be able to provide.
