Yeah just because you get a development deal, it doesn't mean he's sitting in front of a PC or laptop trying to come up with shows 24/7. Like he said, it keeps him tied to a studio and when he does have a project that he thinks is good, HBO will listen to his pitch. And I assume they get some form of compensation for having that exclusivity. So with the strike, the studio is cutting off compensation.

Something tells me Zaslav is giddy to have another excuse to cut contracts.

EVERYONE is happy they can get out of these ridiculous deals made with little to output. They really gotta wait 8 weeks before they can do it, so expect this strike to last well into the summer.

He did a limited show back in 2012 and that Sopranos prequel thing a few years ego. I think that’s it. Clearly he is not working 24/7….

someone like Greg Berlanti isn’t getting his deal canned because he has an amazing output.

That's David Chase... This is David Simon... Creator of The Wire and many other HBO series and limited series.

It would be stupid to give up the 12:30am Seth Meyers late night slot.

Who needs more local news in that time slot?

Looks like a whole bunch of crap, luckily I never watch ABC either, they can broadcast a test pattern for all I care.

But that isn't impacted by a writer's strike, right?

He claims that he doesn't care for ABC and doesn't watch it. But, I remember he posted that he was happy it was returning to ABC. So WTF?

But, ABC doesn't exist for you Canucks. You only get select shows on your various Canadian networks.

Not sure about Fallon but aren't Kimmel, Colbert, Meyers all writers on their own show too?

If anybody on this forum decided to strike at their job I doubt any of our employers would pay us for not working.

I don't think the hosts pay the writers salaries, the network does. The hosts just depend on writers to make them and the show carrying their name entertaining.

Nope, I could (but don't, other than Jimmy Kimmel) watch ABC via their Buffalo affiliate on my roof antenna, as I live 10 minutes away from the US border. In your face!

I grew up watching American rather than Canadian television, as the TV signals from Buffalo were always way stronger than signals from Toronto stations in the area where I live.

I mean, it probably was going to be crap anyway (at least compared to season 1, especially since they weren't allowed to kill anyone off like they had planned) but IIRC the season was cut short and they cut short most of the plotlines because of it, and I think it killed the planned spin off.

Lots of shows besides Heroes were affected as well (like FNL)
