I wonder if you saw the same shows I did. She made a dish that would have put her at the top, and it was only her involvement in trying to help others that landed her at the bottom. She looked to be the only one hustling in the kitchen, sure didn't seem like she was taking a back seat.

As for her talent, they're all very talented, but I sure wouldn't have said that she was one of the worst, she seemed (and seems) like a middle of the pack contender to me.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

This team stuff is getting ridiculous - they should at least require that everyone be responsible for at least one dish. While they probably got rid of the right 2 people, how the heck would they have sent one of the guys from the other team home when all 3 combined to make one dish?

And the person with what they thought might be the best dish and would have won (according to Tom) is not even up for it because she had 2 terrible teammates who put together their own crappy dishes? Conceivably, Jamie could have gotten another walk for the 3rd week in a row if she had 2 good teammates instead of 1.

So glad Jaime and Tiffany are gone. Jaime didnt deserve to be there at all and should have gone home 3 weeks ago.

Jamie blew it. She should have told the judges that she didn't catch a fish. She would have avoided cooking and would have survived another week. Marcel sure seems to think that he is a gangster when he gets a little vodka into his blood.

Not that there was any doubt, but Bravo announced today that Top Chef was renewed for a 9th season.

I can't stand Marcel.

Sorry to see Tiffani go, which I can't believe I am saying considering how awful she was on her season.

Goodbye Douche!

I thought it was funny that Dale picked him as captain b/c he didn't want to have to work with him.

I'm not sorry to see him go! I was laughing when Dale got the pick, and knew Marcel would be a terrible leader. Was hoping that would be what got him sent home.

Bravo fucked up though, they tried to create drama by having the losing team go to judges table first, but at that commercial break, they showed a promo commercial of the Etch team bickering at judge's table. Well, duh, Bravo, only the losers bicker. You just destroyed all the drama you tried so hard to create.

Re: Top Chef All Stars

"A prison break has more organization and teamwork" (gotta love Bourdain)

I think the judges had Angelo pegged when they said it seemed like he realized it would be a train wreck and he kind of just did his own dish, stepped out of the way and did nothing to attempt to fix the team The guy seems pretty slimy (even if he is a very good chef) and I hate how he uses useless adjectives to make the food sound better "what you have here is a beautiful fish with a lovely sauce cooked in a luscious manner...."

Still good to see Marcel go... I wonder if he realized he put out a shitty desert or if he thinks he went home only because it was people not living up to his standards. He seems too eager and determined to live up to his TV rep and is just annoying.

This I'm sure. The dude can't see through his own ego.

I agree that they pegged Angelo, and I think he knew that they pegged and felt bad about how it happened. I do think he is a little slimy but I didn't think he was slimy this episode. He did try to get things on track at one point, and he was trying to be the good soldier.

And man, Marcel is a douche. Just watched his "exit interview" and he's complaining about how he didn't have a good team -- hello, you picked them! -- and how he got shafted.

I haven't watch this episode yet, but it would seem that Angelo just cannot win. If he doesn't help out, then he isn't a team player and is selfish. If he does try to help out, then he is accused of being a saboteur.

I don't think it's as cut and dry as that. His times of "helping out" usually seem to be "taking over" or making key decisions that he really shouldn't be for something that isn't his dish. He's not helping with plating, he's making changes to flavor, ingredients, etc.

As far as not helping out in team challenges, the unfortunately part is there is no winning in a team challenge when you're on the losing team. I believe you're effed one way or the other for the exact reason you listed above. Which is why I hope to God they are done with team challenges at this point.
