Re: Top Chef All Stars

Happy Blais won, thought he was very deserving. Mike did pull out all the stops, especially when they went to the Bahamas. All n' all, a great season, MUCH better than the last (DC).

The live show afterwards with Andy Cohen was MISERABLE. Everybody was drunk and sloppy. Made for an uncomfortable viewing experience.

At least we still have the reunion show, and the start of Top Chef Masters.

For some reason, Top Chef is back on my Comcast On Demand

Agreed on the terrible host for the after-show.

No takers for the reunion show?

Despite the presence of Andy Cohen, it wasn't nearly as bad as the after-show, probably because the judges were there to take the spotlight away from him. Some amusing footage, but the Colicchio-Elia confrontation was some uncomfortable viewing.

It was nice to see them all together again. It was pretty funny to see the bro-mance montage. The Elia-Colicchio confrontation seemed to be a lot about nothing although Tom showed a lot of composure

Shoot, I saw my DVR was set to record this, but when I saw Cohen was on it I figured it was just a replay of the live thing from last week.

But weren't there several other chefs kind of trying to back up Elia but not trying to anger Colicchio by saying things too directly to him? I know Dale was but can't remember if anyone else was. I think Tom was being a bit of a bully, especially when he said something like .."I've tasted several of you chefs dishes, but I won't go and comment on them", kind of like saying if you're going to bad mouth me, get ready cuz I'm going to do it to you. And of course, Tom's opinion is what is going to get heard, not the cheftestants. I actually lost some respect for Tom, but maybe I need to see it again.

Andy Cohen needs to stop doing these shows. How did he get to be a host on Bravo? Is he the son of the owner or something? I was flipping channels the other day and on E! there was a Sex and the City rerun. He was on it, as the shoe salesman helping Sarah J. Parker. He had no lines just a facial expression. He was annoying even doing that!

Ummmm, Andy's the VP of Programming and Development at Bravo, so yeah I guess he knows somebody.

That sucks. I didn't see it with the other Top Chef episodes on my On Demand either, though it might show up after a delay.

I had a different take on it. I didn't see Dale as backing Elia up in her criticism of Tom, more trying to explain it. And FWIW, he only spoke up about the Diet Coke endorsement, not the beef thing. I thought they all looked very uncomfortable, and some even looked flat out disapproving of Elia's POV.

Moreover, I didn't think Tom was bullying, I thought he was saying that it's a respect thing to not bad mouth a fellow chef's restaurant. And that he wouldn't do it.

Yeah, I don't think it's bullying to stand up for yourself.
