Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

Good final show. Both of those courses looked great, though I just don't get this impulse in fine dining to drape a fried egg over everything.

Also liked that the show had no bullshit in it. They kept it an hour instead of padding things out to two.

Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

I admit I have a personal reason for wanting Christine to win. I've lost most of the vision in one eye due to aggressive optic nerve death (the specialists don't know the cause), and it's exactly as Christine describes it - the foggy mirror analogy.

I messaged her thru her website (theblindcook.com) awhile back and got a very warm, personal message the next day.

I'm totally Team Christine.

Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

Congrats to Christine. Such an amazing and inspirational woman. Would have never picked her to win during the audition rounds.

Even though her dishes weren't technically great, I think the flavors and her palette got her the slight edge and win over Josh. Joe loved her Papaya salad and I think the Braised Pork and rice won some love with the flavors.

Josh may have gotten burned from his lobster not really being cooked properly. His dishes were technically very sound and I think he will end up working in a fine dining restaurant sooner or later. He definitely has the skills.

Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

I agree with everything you said, DJariya. Josh's food looked delicious. And I agree that the undercooked lobster was what they based their unanimous decision on - although we all know Fox & producers loved the Christine saga for her marketability.

This isn't to diminish her skills in any way. She's beautiful and talented, and Josh is handsome and talented. Neither came across as a jerk (*cough-Ryan-cough*). I'd have either of them over to cook my dinner anytime.

Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

I kept thinking Josh shouldn't be there in the finals. He left because he couldn't boil an egg properly. Even I can do that 8 out of 10 times and I don't claim to be a home cook let alone a chef, master or otherwise. I still don't see why he was brought back.

Such BS on this show. Christine's food was amateur hour. Josh's food looked straight out of a fine dining restaurant. I could've made Christina's entire course without even looking at a cookbook.

All these shows are staged. Christine...blech!

Her prize should've been a squirt of sriracha sauce in the eyes.

I figured Christine would win since I saw her interviewed on some Entertainment Tonite show. Congrats to her.

Josh's dishes looked good but I would never order his stuff at a restaurant. I don't like lobster or lamb. LOL

I'm far too caucasian, male, and able bodied to win. I don't have an interesting backstory either.

Also, I don't buy my steak at Walmart. Definite disadvantage.

I don't think that's being fair to Christine honestly.

Now I'm not saying it wasn't pretty much set up for her to win this season (because it was) but she did earn it. We've seen she really can cook. So let's not call the whole season producer interference.

Shit, I was surprised to see Becky and Felix fall before the final two. Those were my two favorites to win...really didn't think Christine would take it.

Didn't the judges comment on her dishes looking less than impressive only to be won over by her food's zest and flavor? I think her cookbook might be interesting -- "ordinary" dishes with a kick.

Yea, but they had to take Becky out at the final 3 instead of Josh, because it would've been harder to fake Christine's win in the final if push came to shove.

That's what I said too. I think Christine won more for the flavors of her dish and palette, especially with her handicap, than the technical aspect.

Or how about "Dishes You Can Make With Your Eyes Closed"?

Why, yes, I am going to hell.

Re: MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

I DVR'd this, but didn't have time to watch it the night it aired. The next day I'm on ABC News, and one of their large sidelines reads: BLIND CONTESTANT WINS MASTERCHEF.

Fuck you, ABC. Honestly, not like I didn't think she'd win, but they can't just put "MASTERCHEF WINNER REVEALED", or something to that effect?

Same thing happened to me but with the ABC News app. Never would have thought that this would be reported news...

Spring lamb... summer peas... autumn carrots... winter.. parsnips? I would say, Chef... as the great Maestro Antonio Vivaldi, you have captured all four seasons in one stroke. I think that this is an orchestral composition of mythical proportions.
Josh didn't seem to confirm Joe's deduction of his entree -- was this just a happy accident or did Josh plan out all four seasons for his dish?

That's got to have been a happy accident.

MasterChef -- Season 4 Thread -- Summer 2013 (FOX)

love all gordon ramsey shows. This show is different. Finding chefs from home and have them compete for the Masterchef title.

Its pretty good and have watched since. Tonight is the first episode. Should be good

Literally my only complaint with this show was Christine on season 3. She cooked variations of the same dish 5 times. Argh!

Thanks Jadzia for changing the thread title.

Now back to business

Saw the newest promo last night and laughed. I think this is currently the best cooking competition show on TV.
