I'm really surprised Kate didn't make it into the finale. I actually thought she was the front runner to win the whole thing. I imagine Dino has to be the front runner at this point. I think Eboni is the best chef of the three left but she's just to mean a person to win.

When MC was half way, I already thought Eboni and Harvard guy would reach finale. Music guy and Kate were in top 4.

Well, I don't expected Dino went that far and Harvard fucked up with raw chicken that got him eliminated early. lol

Joe Bastianich is returning to MasterChef's 9th season next month.

Christina Tosi is leaving the show.

That's great news. Joe was sorely missed after he left to do the Italian version.

Joe is currently a judge with Christina and Gordon on the Junior version, which is currently airing. But, I'm sure no one here watches that version.

I watch the kids version. It makes me feel even worse about my lack of cooking skills.
Good news that Joe is sticking around, but bad news that Christina is leaving, as I assume that means that Aarone Sanchez is sticking around.

Yes Aaron Sanchez is sticking around as the 3rd judge.

I thought Christina added nothing to the show. No loss.

I watch all other things Ramsay, but can't bring myself to watch the Junior edition of MasterChef. It's sort of my summer vacation from Ramsay.

Well that sucks. He is easily the worst judge they have had.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Gordon Ramsay -- Series Thread

2 hour premiere for Season 9 aired on Wednesday night.

Anyone make the time for it yet? So good to have Joe back. The show was sorely missing his presence.

I do question why he picked that kid, who had the raw meat. He really oversold him. I did when he sort of indirectly threatened him and said..."The consequences will be severe if you don't follow my standards" along those lines. Then later on in hour 2, he goes crazy about that Bus driver and starts selling her that she can win it all.

This new mentor format is interesting. Of course you know most are going to take Gordon.

I at that lady who initially took Aaron's apron and then backtracked and took Joe's.

and of course they were finally going to take that girl from Houston who was appearing on the show for the 3rd time. No way would they drop her.

I watched it today. I am happy they moved to the "team" format. It actually made the apron auditions interesting again.

Also glad to have "mean" Joe back. I could do without Aaron Sanchez, but at least he's the only weak link. There is already a big improvement this season over recent ones.

I'm betting that no more than 8 will take Gordon...

Aaron and Joe will also have 8 each.

Should have said preferred Gordon.

I do like the team format. Joe seems very competitive.

Haven't watched in awhile but tuned in for this go round, good fun. Don't know why Joe saved that 19year old dishwasher though

I know others mentioned they liked having Joe back but to me he always looks like me's auditioning for an amateur remake of the Sopranos or something. I know he's some bazillionare restaurateur but he never impressed me as having real food knowledge....business acumen perhaps but not food.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Gordon Ramsay -- Series Thread

I'm curious how the team format will work for the individual contests... like how will they agree on the worst dishes to send home when they have vested interests in the contestants now?

For the team competitions, this format should help those out quite a bit.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Gordon Ramsay -- Series Thread

I really don't like Shanika. She really just has that kind of negative attitude and energy. I was kind of hoping she would get eliminated. Too bad it was Alecia.

The Churro challenge was kind of lame. I rather see something that takes more skill.

I prefer the episodes like last week when the contestants have to go out into the field. I enjoyed the cooking challenge at the Brewery more than this week. But it looks like they rotate the field and studio ones every week.
