Re: MasterChef -- The 2nd Season Thread -- Premieres 6/06/11 on FOX
I know he's been gone for a long time but who was worse, Max or Christian? Or, is there another nominee for the title of Asshat?

Last season it was Lee as King Douche. This season is more of a toss up. Max was a complete asshat, but so was Christian. Both were cocky beyond belief, but Max was a dumb kid. Christian should have known better. Tough call.

Max and Christian were the kings, but Suzy constantly had me going "Are you serious?" with how much she felt she was superior to Jennifer. That whole "She took my spot" line I was just shaking my head.
There's way too much ego running rampant here. But I suspect they indulge it so its more fun when the judges just get to rip into them. I swear they were all gleefully cutting Christian down in the semi-final elimination tournament just knowing they were cutting him.

Congrats to the ex-beauty queen. Her quail I guess deserved the lingering shots and porno music.

I thought it would be Adrian all along, but I'm ok with Jennifer winning. Funny how they both botched the dessert, but I thought Adrian's had more potential than Jen's boring pears.
Loved Christian's face when she got the nod over him. I'd say at least he was a good sport cheering along with everyone else, but I'm sure the producer's told him to do that. If I were him, I'd have wanted to leave the studio then and there to head home.

But the fact that the cake didn't come out perfectly and the pears did even as simplistic as the judges thought they were sealed the deal for Jennifer.

Christian, Max and Suzy all need to share a cab ride home. And then that cab needs to burst into flames.

I saw the final episode, but I had missed the top three ep. Suzy is such an arrogant ****, and it was hilarious that Christian screwed himself in the end...twice!

Congrats to Jennifer. She never really stood out as a top competitor early in the competition, but got alot better and more confidant as the weeks went by. Very happy that the 2 douchebags (Max and Christian) weren't in the final. The judges did say that they liked Jennifer's dessert more, but didn't feel satisfied with the 1 serving. Adrian's cake was just dry and that's IMO what was the deciding factor.
at Gordon throwing out the plug for casting of season 3 even though FOX hasn't "officially" renewed the show yet. And I assume these episodes were shot several months ago. But, I'm pretty sure it will be back. The ratings were pretty good for a summer competition show.In the previous episode where they brought in the 3 judges from India, Israel and France. I found it interesting that Gordon made it sound like MasterChef was a phenominal ratings success overseas in different markets. He said over 20M watched the India finale. But, in America it does good, but not spectacular numbers.

MasterChef -- Season 3 Thread -- Mondays/Tuesdays (FOX)

By djariya at 2012-06-04
Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur Joe Bastianich and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot return for Season Three of the culinary smash hit MASTERCHEF with a two-night season premiere event on Monday, June 4 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Tuesday, June 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Nearly 30,000 hopefuls auditioned at MASTERCHEF's open casting calls in Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; Savannah, GA; Seattle, WA; and Washington, DC. MASTERCHEF also hit the road for the first-ever food truck casting tour and made stops in cities throughout Arizona, Colorado and Utah. Only the best amateur cooks were flown to Los Angeles for a chance to compete for the coveted title of MASTERCHEF and the $250,000 grand prize. This season will feature contestants from all walks of life representing 23 states - including a stock broker, a professional opera singer, an emergency physician, a food photographer, a plastic surgeon, as well as the first blind cook to enter the competition - all with the hopes of turning their culinary dream into a reality.

I grew to really like MasterChef in season 2. 2 hours of Ramsay in 1 week this summer. Love it.Promo:

Sweet. Love it. Although, as said above Joe's douchelike pauses are getting pretty old.

Good 1st episode.
Those dumplings the gay Asian student made actually looked really good.
at the Fat black lady who made "Frog leg egg foo young"
I liked when Ramsay said.....Congratulations and then she screamed
....It's a resounding No.
That was one of the worst dishes in this competition.
at the lady named "Monti Carlo" I agree with Joe, I don't buy it either.
I know they think it makes good TV, but why do they let some of these idiots come in with stupid schticks.
Surprisingly Joe wasn't as douchey as he normally is. Hopefully someone will piss him off with a really disgusting dish.
That 7-footer's etouffe didn't look too bad.
That was nice of them to let the last woman Christine go through. But, she has no shot in hell, especially being blind. She will get eaten alive in speed cooking challenges.

The stock broker looked like he could cook. Joe is probably right about the bearded guy from Georgia, he'll be lost when they get to souffles and such. Blind girl, yeah she's gone but its their feel good moment, the same with Joel, the soldier. I don't see his knowledge being that deep beyond Jamaican dishes.

Was it just me, or was Joe the nice one from these two episodes. I think there was only one time where he was a dissenting no, but plenty of times when he was the one yes

Loved the first two episodes. I think I'm a sucker for feel good stories but I was really happy the blind girl made it in. I hope she goes far.
Couldn't wait for Joe's blank 'stares' and I got plenty of them tonight. I didn't care for that really cocky Asian girl from LA. I forgot what she made I didn't think she deserved to advance.

The blind girl doesn't have the knife skills. That should have been a disqualifier right there. She will either be super careful meaning her dishes won't get finished on time, or they will be so simple as to not be Master Chef quality, or she loses fingers.
That Joelle showed up in uniform with his sob story should have gotten him bounced just for that.

Lol i like how we judge the contestants by judging the judges reactions lol As we can not taste the food how can we ever say who stays and goes? I do like that they didn't send everyone with a sob story through. Wish they let the 18 yr old in. I always root for the underdog. I think right now i'm cheering for the gay asian kid.

I figured that once Ramsay had that young girl go out to get her family, she was a lock. Nice to see they aren't doing things as I expect.

Good episode but will like it once they can spend more time with the individual dishes. I am very surprised the people who didn't even get a chance to have their dishes tasted (like the soldier). The one thing I always hated about this how is they only taste certain ones (at least in the "reward" challenges).
