Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

I want Leslie to take it all, too. What a stark contrast from the beginning of the season when I couldn't stand the guy. He's shown a lot of humility over the past few weeks.

Was hoping for a Leslie vs. Ahran finale, which I'm guessing is still a possibility if they do the "cook-to-get-back-in" episode they do every season.

I'm guessing she may get back in -- she packed a lot more in terms of technique and originality than Cutter, Daniel and Big Willie have (and nothing against Big Willie since he seems like a nice guy, but he's not much of a chef).

There seemed to have been a couple of weeks in a row where Leslie's seasoning skills have been called into question. I'm rooting for either Elizabeth or Jamie.

Noticed this the other week. Very weird.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

I like Big Willie but he's still at the "home cook" stage. He's improved his cooking, but his ideas are still what he'd cook for his family and friends. That's going to be his downfall.

How is Cutter still around? Between awful food and arguing when the judges are trying to offer advice with what he's doing wrong, it just amazes me that they continue to keep him.

Leslie has been my favorite to win for awhile now. He had an attitude but his food was backing it up. It seems he's taken a step back with the seasoning being off the past few weeks though.

Re: MasterChef (FOX) -- Season 5 Thread -- Summer 2014

Last nights episode could have gone either way. Elizabeth and Cutter's dim sum looked just as bad, if not worse than Big Willie and Christian.

Poor Big Willie. Nice friendly guy, decent home cook, but he just didn't quite have the chops. I don't agree with his pick though. I think Leslie has clearly emerged now as the front runner.

Kind of reminds me of how they beat the snot out of Luca for half a season or more, and then suddenly he shoots to the top and wins.

As long as the winner isn't Courtney (especially) or Cutter, I'm fine.

It will probably end up being Gonzo vs. Leslie.

Sad to see Jamie go. How Cutter has made it this far is completely baffling.

I just ffed through the "group of 7" episode and was shocked and saddened to see Willie get the boot. Apparently Jamie is gone too, which is unfortunate, as I liked her quirkiness. Go, Elizabeth or Christian!

I think it's going to be a toss-up between Courtney and Leslie.

I don't know but he's like the real life counterpart to numerous Danny McBride characters.

Edit: Turns out others agreed with that

His voice is spot on, it was driving me nuts one time when I passed out watching Masterchef.

FYI

Tonight is 2 hours. No Hotel Hell tonight. I don't get the scheduling logic.

As for last week, I honestly didn't really care about Jaimee. I know she was horrendously shy and lacked a lot of social skills, but her cooking was nothing to get excited about. I'm glad for her that the show may have helped improve some of her social deficiencies.

Maybe they bumped the season finale to air concurrently with the series finale of Kitchen Nightmares.

And it will be a two-hour finale next week. I imagine the idea is to wrap things up before the Fall premieres.

Too bad about Christian, but I was surprised by Cutter's classy exit. Now, please, someone beat that phony, self-centered bitch Courtney; even if it has to be Leslie.
