Rey tells Lenny about it. Remember that after he confessed, Rey's wife threw him out of the house before she eventually took him back.

Damn, Rey could have gotten it on with Lorelai Gilmore too when they headed out to LA.

Yep - my all-time favorite L&O episodes. Lenny imploring Rey to hit that was classic.

So what would the lineup be
7:00 Friends
7:30 New hit Comedy of the season
8:00 L&O
9:00 ER
I really don't see that working. People tune in for comedy.

No - L&O taking over ER's timeslot permanently.

I don't know but L&O is getting higher ratings than ever now and it seems like ER is sliding (is there anybody from the original cast left?). I think NBC is particularly concerned about CSI at 9. The people who watch CSI are more likely to stick with Without a Trace at 10 than switch over ER IMO. NBC no longer has that powerhouse 9-10 lead-in for ER. I think CSI and Law & Order have a more common viewership so the thinking may be that by putting L&O on at 10, more viewers of CSI will switch over than presently do.
I think a flip-flop of ER and L&O could happen.

My thoughts are the same as Red Dog's. Without a Trace is a perfect match with (and a better show than) C.S.I.. er has no lead-in to speak of and is a tired old show that isn't gaining new viewers. I imagine NBC is tired of getting spanked by the CBS juggernaut on their self-proclaimed "Must See TV" night. They're not going to take viewers away from Survivor or C.S.I., but they can use Law & Order to squash Without a Trace.

Of course this is not a true test either. CSI and WOAT are repeats tonight and even Survivor is doing their half-way recap show tonight.
What is pretty amazing is that since 1986, only 2 shows have regularly occupied the NBC Thursday 10pm slot - LA Law and ER.
I still can't fathom how well L&O is now doing. It is my favorite drama of all time, but it is at all-time low in the quality dept. I think the police-halves are still very strong but the prosecution-halves are so bad - mainly due to the robotic acting of Elizabeth Rohm. The scripts have been lacking as well. I can only assume that the rebroadcasts on A&E and TNT have introduced so many more people to it and that carries viewers over to the new ones.

Now come on, you know the answer to this one: as the stories get more pedestrian and bland, the viewership increases. Add some predictable "it wouldn't be NBC's Law & Order without an NBC shocking NBC twist on NBC," rehash some old concepts with less imagination, and you've got yourself a goldmine. I'm sure NBC execs are in a meeting right now trying to figure out how to dumb the show down even further to squeeze out another tenth of a ratings point.

Well it also doesn't help that Dick Wolf is juggling 4 similar dramas at once.

And if you go back to 1981 only 3 shows have occupied that time slot. Hill Street Blues, LA Law & ER and I have watched since 1981!

So can someone clear this up for me. Originally, they were supposed to air a new episode on Wednesday night, but instead they aired a rerun, and put the new one on Thursday night instead? Is that correct?

I assume so. A previous episode may have been preempted because of the war - didn't the initial bombing start on a Wednesday night?

L&O is a powerhouse no matter what night it's on the audience will find it
I agree with RED DOG completely that Elizabeth Rohm is dead wood on tv..She delivers her lines like she's on Prozac!!..Dick Wolf please release her..ler her go..
How I long for the days of Claire Kincaid (Jill Hennesey) she looked great in those skirts and the sexual tension between her and Mccoy alway added another dramatic element to the show

Sexual tension?
Tension implies that they weren't doing the nasty. It is pretty clear that they were.Claire was great but my fav ADA is Jamie Ross (Carey Lowell). She was, IMO, the sexiest and most realistic of the ADAs. The closest to being Jack's equal. It is no coincidence that I think L&O peaked during her 2 seasons: 7 & 8. Dick Wolf should go and beg her to return.

I've seen episode as far as I know I don't remember jack&Jill (sorr bad pun) running up the hill together..I thaught she had a "crush" on him but it never went any further
I agree Carrie Lowell was very good too and had a real sexy voice
apperently she left the show to go look after Mr Buddha himself Richard Gere

Well they don't explicitly show it or discuss it, but they imply a relationship countless times. Heck, how often do you go out to dinner with the same co-worker of the opposite sex? You obviously have never visited this website:
