Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread
Classic L&O was able to make two different stories out of the same case. One of the best examples of this was one I already cited in this thread, an early episode called "Girlfriends".
Law part: College coed found murdered in the library. Eventually find out she was part of a prostitution ring run by a fellow student.
Order part: The student flees the country, but because she was doing it on her father's dime, McCoy and Kincaid go after the father for enterprise corruption, running a prostitution ring out of his designer shoe company.

Not really definitive news. But, since this is coming back in the Fall and they are producing 22 episodes instead of 10, never say never. They have room to write her in.

Angie Harmon is teasing fans about her possible return to Law & Order!
During a chat with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, the Baywatch Nights star, 49, spoke about her desire to make a comeback on the NBC series as her character, Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Abbie Carmichael, who she played in the franchise over two decades ago.
"I would love it," she told ET, noting that the show's creator, Dick Wolf, reached out to her while they were working on season 21, which premiered in February 2022.
"I was like, 'Look, guys. I mean, I would love to maybe do an arc or something," she recalled of her response to the offer. "I would love to revisit Abbie. She was just so fun and wonderful."
The Rizzoli & Isles actress also added that her character "just adores and loves" Sam Waterson, who plays District Attorney (DA) Jack McCoy in the series, and "that whole group."
After revealing to ET that she recently spoke to Merkerson, 69 — who played Lieutenant Anita Van Buren for 16 seasons — Harmon gushed over her time on the show, saying, "Just know that was a really, really wonderful time in my life."
"I mean, what a great time to, you know, begin an acting career," she added.
The mother of three also joked about the possibility of her character being the next DA, saying, "That would be perfect. Just hang on, everybody."

Mehcad Brooks from Mortal Kombat will be the new cop replacing Anderson.
Or you may remember him from Supergirl. He played James Olsen.

Do we know why Anderson is leaving? He seemed all-in when they asked him to come back for S21.

It's like in all the Law and Order marathons on Sundance and WeTV, they'll show the episode "Baby It's You", which is a good episode about a model's murder, but eventually the case ties to Baltimore, where Homicide (no longer airing) finishes the story.
To this day I don't know how that one ends.

I think you're right about the Homicide season set including at least 1 of them - I'd have to check my collection.

Re: Law & Order -- Series Discussion Thread
So I did remember to watch all three flavors of L&O, and it's a good thing because if I only watched "classic" like I normally do, I'd have been hopelessly lost with the storyline.
It was ok, the first hour was probably the best. The whole thing kinda reminded me of 24, where each evil plot was only a precursor to a much more evil plot, usually culminating in some kind of WMD. And this being the first time I watched an episode (other than a rerun) after John Oliver's rant a few weeks ago, as well as one of the few times I've seen SVU, I have to admit I kinda see his point a little better now, as in the SVU folks were wayyyyy too accommodating to the teenage girl who was trafficked. I don't imagine when that happens in real life in NYC they get the TLC from the NYPD that we saw in the episode. They probably get booked and thrown into jail, suspended sentence or probation, then tossed into a foster home or something.

Classic L&O:OC part where Jet can hack open the front gate of a mansion from her workstation, but they can't put a camera at the safehouse to notice the 4 guys that have been sitting in a car across the street
They seemed to mellow out Donovan's character.

Overall, I hated the crossover. Made for a horrible episode of SVU and the tone was completely changed from previous seasons of Organized Crime where there is more of anything goes atmosphere in the criminals Elliott faces.
The whole Ukraine angle just seemed so cliche. We have been hearing about that shit for 6 months now, couldn't they find something less 'ripped from the headlines' Annoying start to the season but since I love Dick Wolf, Ill be watching all 3.

I like the new guy. He’s like a younger, taller, more jacked version of Courtney Vance.
