I hope Annie's reaction to the picture of Sonny pulling the baby out through the roof doesn't cause her to start having feelings for him again.

I liked how the first emotion Albert has shown in weeks is shock when Janette tells him she doesn't have an appointment.

Not sure what to think of the Ladoona story. I've seen several reviews of the episode call it a stunt that they thought Davis Simon was above doing.
Yeah that was funny. What a wild mess that was.

I like the interaction other characters are starting to have with each other. Albert and Jannette, Sonny and Antoine next week. It almost happened at the end of last season when Janette and Delmond at the airport.

All of Antoine's scenes are awesome (for that matter, the same was true for anything Wendell Pierce did as Bunk Moreland in The Wire).

I don't mind the LaDonna story. Doesn't at all seem like a stunt to me; considering how rampant crime was it seems totally believable.

I love all the little connections and interactions between characters. At least to me, they all seem organic and not at all contrived.

Treme should be required viewing for everyone...it would definitely open a lot of eyes to how bad things are in parts of this country.

My only complaint was I didn't buy Facebook being the first social networking site that guy at the bar would have mentioned. It has just opened to the general public for membership in September of 2006. At the time of this episode, MySpace was a lot bigger to the general public. Especially for musicians.

Some good news, despite the low ratings, HBO renewed the show for a 3rd season. They are currently shooting the season finale. They will start shooting season 3 after Hurricane season.

I would guess that they will try to wrap the show up to coincide with the Saints Super Bowl in 09. So probably about 3 more seasons I guess.

Re: Treme -- "Santa Claus, Do You Ever Get the Blues?" -- 5/15/11

OK one sort of nitpick here:

With Antoine's band, how well off are these guys supposed to be? The bassist has had like 2 or 3 different Modulus Quantum basses - those things are like $3K-$4K each, and he's using the same bass head I do (Eden) and that stuff is not cheap either. I love the music scenes BTW - the Japanese guitarist f'in smoked.

Kudos to HBO for renewing this critically praised, yet ratings starved show. Too bad more people don't watch it. Another solid episode this week.

Antonie's band was the highlight again. Loved the one guy telling Sonny to get his shit together "You're in no danger of becoming a great musician"

Good job showing the psychological scars with the kids freaking out at the thunder.

Yeah he clowned Sonny right to his face but he was right. A small town word gets around. For such a piece of shit, Sonny does get his share of ass though.

I know a lot of people complain that this show is too slow, but I absolutely love it.

Just like with the Wire and Baltimore, David Simon is able to make the City of New Orleans a character in this show.

And oh my god is the music amazing.

Agreed on all accounts. I love it. As a fan of fine dining i'm really loving Janelle's storyline right now.

Davis trying to pursuade the rapper for his CD was pretty funny. This season has been off to a great start -- I too am really enjoying the New York restaurant stuff as well.

I think Nelson is just there to make money. I don't think he has an exact game plan either. He just knows to get with the right people and put his money where they tell him. I liked his speech about New Orleans being like a village. The show certainly bears that out.

Great to see John Hiatt performing too.

I'd love it if Antoine invited the class to watch him and his band at a gig so they could see what real jazz is like but they probably won't do that.

Have you seen this blog from NOLA.com?

http://www.nola.com/treme-hbo/index...._like_rai.html

After every episode first season, I'd read the "Treme Explained" post about each episode. I thought it really helped me appreciate the series.
