I hope the atmosphere and music never go away. It's part of what makes Treme special.

I loved the atmosphere and the music, and agree that good TV isn't a race... but there's a line that has to be drawn. I don't need to watch musicians play 5 minutes straight almost every episode to understand that music is an important part of New Orleans. I wanted more story and more dialog.

I also felt cheated. When whatsherface found out that Damo was dead, she held it from her mother for a while. And then the mother finds out in-between episodes and I never got to see her reaction. I guess they didn't want to scrap another musical number.

What also annoyed me was the constant cameos on the show. But then one episode they metion Lucinda Williams is in town and will be playing - I was looking forward to it. Of course, we didn't see her play - nevermind even have a cameo.

I hope they deal more with the characters and storyline this season.

There are tons of shows out there where a musician doesn't play for 5 minutes straight. But if you love music, and you love the type of music (Jazz) from Treme, why would you not want to hear 5 minutes of it? It's basically no longer than a single. It's interesting that you say that, though, because you definitely represent a significant segment of the populace. For instance, I'd like to have longer American Idol and Glee performances, but I guess they've done the research and decided the viewing audience doesn't have the attention span. I can relate to not wanting to sit "forever" through a performance I don't particularly care for, but when I'm digging it, 5 minutes is just fine. I also think there's a lot of exposition that can occur during performances.

I've got to side with Coral on this point, too. The acting was fine and the city captured beautifully, but the series left me cold. When it really focused on the storytelling it was quite compelling, so I'm willing to give it another shot this season.

Loved tonight's episode. It may not be for everyone but the atmosphere and the storytelling keeps me enthralled.

Great performance by Clarke Peters as the Big Chief. He never said a single word the whole episode and didn't have to.

I enjoyed it as well.

Felt really bad for Sophia.

Hopefully with the added focus on crime and the addition of Jon Seda's character, which I'm guessing will be him scamming people, we'll have less of Davis this year.

That's the thing... I love music and I really like jazz... it's just that if I want to listen to it - I'll put on a CD. I give Treme some leeway since music is important, and I except to see/hear more of it than other shows... I just find it too much.

Anyways, this was a decent start to the season... it has some potential. I like that the cop (Morse) will seem to have a bigger storyline. I hope we don't see more Sonny and Annie drama... they're not together, keep it that way.

So is Ladonna's mom dead now? It sounded like it. If so, couldn't we have seen some of the drama involved in that? I feel cheated again.

Great to have this show back -- already more screen time for David Morse in this episode than all of last season. Off to a great start with everyone else too

Not surprised for various reasons. The Wire didn't get great ratings either. Who cares.

Dammit, I hope people tune in for this. Really great beginning to the season, I'm curious to see the possible directions this is going already. Interesting addition of the new characters as well. I have to agree, I'm still loving the story and atmosphere. I just hope more people will tune in to this. It's a nice departure from the ADD/teenage reality garbage out there.

Not sure I want to watch Toni solve another murder-mystery this season.

So are they using the FEMA money to fund candidates, or is the contract a kickback for helping getting candidates elected.

Re: Treme - "On Your Way Down" - 5/08/2011

Loved the scenes with Antoine and his band. The scene where he showed up at the school for the job interview, saw it was total chaos, and got back into the cab and left was hilarious

I hope Annie's reaction to the picture of Sonny pulling the baby out through the roof doesn't cause her to start having feelings for him again.

I liked how the first emotion Albert has shown in weeks is shock when Janette tells him she doesn't have an appointment.

Not sure what to think of the Ladoona story. I've seen several reviews of the episode call it a stunt that they thought Davis Simon was above doing.
