It was great to see Steve Earl's character get popped... or anyone for that matter. Usually the good stuff happens off screen, so I'm glad they threw the audience a bone finally.

Sad huh? I've been watching this show since the first episode. I'm really enjoying this season since it feels a bit better paced with each story.

I have come to the conclusion that Davis is meant to be one of the most annoying character's in the history of TV. Kind of like Ziggy in season 2 of the Wire. David Simon most have an affinity for super fucking annoying characters.
i keep hoping that he makes it a tradition for Davis to have his ass beat every season. When he got beat up in Season 1, i cheered.
But I fucking love this show.

Don't really get all the Davis hate. He's the typical Steve Zahn character and I find him amusing.
I couldn't stand Ziggy, though, except for this one scene:

I don't get all the Davis hate either. He clearly loves New Orleans, and New Orleans music, and wants to be a part of that world, but he's forever the outsider, unable to break in.

An interview w/ Steve Earle. Beware that while there aren't outright spoilers there are some things alluded to by Earle that one might infer to be a spoiler. If you are extremely spoiler sensitive then you may want to avoid.

No. I find that many events in Treme that could be interesting and leave an impact with the viewer happens off-screen - so when I can actually see something major happen on-screen, I don't feel cheated. Not everything has to be seen, but it's nice once in a while.

And clearly he is an entitled, middle class brat, quite like a lot of middle class Progressives / Revolutionary Marxists were in the early 70's.
And how he landed Annie is way beyond me.

^^ This is why I don't like him. But again, to me it feels like this was a character that was devloped to go a certain way, but quickly meandered into an obnoxious character. I was hoping he'd stay a DJ, and the several musicians would go in and out of there, and he would play their music that was the pulse of the city. But his fucking band and him singing is the worst.
And true about him and Annie. I just don't buy her settling with him.

An ok episode. Nothing ground breaking. Good to see Janette getting things on track and Chief was jammin'.
Next week's finale should have a lot.

It seems like they have a lot to wrap up next week. The Toni and Nelson stories feel like they really haven't even developed that much.

This season has flown by, can't believe the finale is next week already. I think I've enjoyed this more than the first season -- I really like the restaurant stuff in NY.

Janette's story has definitely gotten better since she moved into this new restaurant
Highlight of the episode was the singer from Antoine's band going off on him mid-song and walking off the stage

Even though there's virtually no chance of it happening, Khandi Alexander deserves an Emmy nomination. She was phenomenal tonight, the scene when she was going off on the DA was great.
There has to be more to the Nelson story because otherwise that just seems like a huge waste.
Looks like they are setting up Sonny's story as a way to get into the oil spill, if they make it that far.
The Janette and Jacques romance just seemed weird and came out of nowhere.
I didn't realize until I read Sepinwall's review that Oliver Thomas played himself on the show.
