I disagree. They've always had great chemistry. Couple that with good feelings and some alcohol after haven't seen each other in a while.....yeah shit like that happens.

Beautiful finale.

Great finale and great season. Like MrX said I hope Alexander or someone or even the show itself gets some recognition from the Emmys. Something please.

Agreed. I thought the scene at the bar where she saw her rapist was especially strong.

Great finale. Classic Simon. Next season can't come soon enough. Surprised they are getting into the oil so soon. More than likely just to make some parallels.

My girlfriend suggested that if this show is allowed to run its course, it will probably end on the Saints Super Bowl win. That's the night New Orleans really felt like they had recovered from the storm. I think she's right on and I hope David Simon listens to her. GOT IT, DAVID?

There has to be more to the Nelson story because otherwise that just seems like a huge waste.

Looks like they are setting up Sonny's story as a way to get into the oil spill, if they make it that far.

The Janette and Jacques romance just seemed weird and came out of nowhere.

I didn't realize until I read Sepinwall's review that Oliver Thomas played himself on the show.

Khandi's character I think is a great voice of New Orleans in this show. She says what the city has been feeling. She's fantastic.

Really wonder what they're going to do with Nelson. I never got the sense that he was a bad guy, and I hope he comes around.

Janette and Jacques seems completely natural to me. I hope they stay together. Same goes to Annie and Davis.

Really had no idea Oliver Thomas played himself. That must take a lot to go back to all that guilt and shame. Kudos to him for that.

(as a Bears fan) I'm upset they didn't bring up the Bears busting up the miracle 2006 season in the NFC Championship Game. They set it up bringing up the late season games, but never mentioned the NFC Championship game.

Great finale. Although, I thought it really felt like a series finale. Perhaps the script was locked in before the series got renewed.

This is a Simon thing. He believes each and every season should be able to stand on its own. The Wire was done in a similar fashion.

******

I enjoyed the finale. I have really appreciated the great chemistry between Chief Lambreaux and his son, Damond. I thought those two just really nailed their scenes and moments together all season. I loved the unanticipated reaction that Chief had to the "royalties" check. "We need to do another album." The look on Damond and his manager's face was priceless, "Oh shit!"

Didn't dislike Janette being in NYC but it's good to have her going back to NOLA.

Sonny was a character I despised in S1 but am growing to like as he cleans up and is showing better character.

Didn't realize that was the real Oliver Thomas playing himself. Major props to the guy for both his willingness to do it and his performance.

Loved the scene of Nelson's cuz calling him out..."But what is it that you do?"

Davis' aunt selling Lil Calliope's contract for $40k. Watch him make it big and it be worth 10 times that.

Love the show and look forward to S3.

I wonder if the Big Chief killing that boy in the first season will ever catch up with him. That feels like the only loose thread that never got resolved.

I watched Season 1 and enjoyed it, despite how low key it was. Is this season worth watching? Better or worse than season 1? Does it follow a lot of the same characters? Is there still a lot of music? I loved the music.

I don't think he killed the kid... I think he just beat the snot out of him.

I also didn't know the mayor was actually played by Oliver Thomas, but I was pretty sure he wasn't an actor going by his performance. This type of casting seems to happen a lot as I've seem some lousy deliveries.

It is better than Season 2 I'd say. Now that you know who the characters are already you get more involved in following their stories. It follows all of the same characters and yes there is still a lot of music. The season finale was based around the jazz festival.

Oliver Thomas wasn't playing the mayor, he was playing himself as the city council president I believe.

Correct. And given it was just a beating, Big Chief can probably rest easy since the police apparently don't even solve the murders, much less a beating.

Correct. There was a lot of talk of him running for/likely to be the next mayor.

Re: Treme -- Season Finale -- "Do Watcha Wanna" -- 7/03/11

A bit late to the thread but I just watched this one last night. I was close to dropping the show mid-season and I'm glad I didn't. For the past few weeks I've been going through a marathon run of The Wire, which I had never seen. I'm mid way through season 5 now. I think watching that show has given me more appreciation for Treme. I understand what they're trying to accomplish and I hope it gets there. And it's nice seeing three actors (I think just 3) transition from one show into the other.

Personally, I knew NOLA was back when the Real World returned for a second season there. That should be the way it ends.

Re: Treme -- Season Finale -- "Do Watcha Wanna" -- 7/03/11

After letting all 21 episodes pile up on my DVR over the last two years, I finally dug in and watched them all over the last month. My only complaint...is that I waited so long.

I am in love with this show. I love the characters, their stories, the music, and New Orleans itself. It reminds me of Nashville, one of my favorite movies. It's not concerned about a straightforward plot. It just draws you in with the characters, makes you love (or hate) them, and then pulls you along for the ride.

I absolutely fucking love every minute of Treme.

I have my kids (4 & 7) grooving to Treme theme song & My Indian Red all the time now. They love the music I've been playing from the show.

Unfortunately, Michael Showers, who played Capt. Guidry on the show was found dead yesterday in the Mississippi River:

That's sad...and creepy considering what happened in season one. It will be interesting to see how the writers work this in. Because based on where Colson's story (and real life) were headed last season, he was probably going to play a huge part in that plot line.

Treme *Season Premiere* - "Knock with Me - Rock with Me" - 9/23/12

Spoiler:
Antoine Batiste flirts with martyrdom; Janette Desautel encounters her old nemesis, Enrico Brulard (Victor Slezak), and a new suitor; Delmond and Albert Lambreaux debut their Indian-jazz album; Toni Bernette meets L.P. Everett, a new ally in her investigation of post-Katrina killings; LaDonna Batiste-Williams finds living with in-laws is its own kind of hell; Sonny is in an in-law hell of his own, and he and Linh (Hong Chau) aren't even married; Nelson Hidalgo is barking up new money trees.

In case you missed it, HBO told Simon they would give him a lump sum to do a 4th and final season and he expects it's enough to make a 4-6 episode final season.

This is a show I keep meaning to watch but haven't gotten to yet. I'll have to catch up on it with HBO GO sometime.

This show is great. Still haven't seen the 2nd season yet. Been meaning to pick it up on Blu-Ray, but it never seems to go on sale.

Re: Treme *Season Premiere* - "Knock with Me - Rock with Me" - 9/23/12

I thought they found a better balance between the music and the storytelling in season 2 so I'm interested in where this is going in season 3. At least we know up front that HBO liked the new shows enough to renew it for season 4 before season 3 even premiered.

This a the show that usually piles up on my DVR before I start watching so I'm sure I'll be weeks and weeks behind the weekly broadcast.

I think I remember seeing somewhere, I'm thinking from Alan Sepinwall, that there was a point of no return where there was some issue with the production where they had to know whether it was coming back so they could start up and that was before the premiere. Pretty neat that the way contracts worked, none of the actors were obligated to do this last season but they all agreed to it.
