Given the show's premise, it would be hard to keep it going for much longer. Plus the ratings aren't very good anyway.
No-one's talking about this episode?
So S3 is now 25 months ahead in the timeline, so I think that puts them in late 2008.
It sounds like they're setting up the series to end with the Saints winning the Superbowl.
We're 2 years after we left off last season and Sonny has only been dating the Vietnamese chick for a few months, and he's still walking on egg-shells around her father? Not much progression with that storyline at all... what the hell have they been doing all this time?
All the storylines/characters don't look like they're much further ahead from last year even though 25 months have passed.

You're right, it's confusing. The only reason that I know this is because I just marathoned the previous two seasons, and they both start with "___ months after" at the top.

Yeah, I didn't remember that they did that the other seasons... I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night.

They didn't need to include Katrina. Unless you haven't been watching the show it is based around the affects AFTER Katrina. That was pretty much stated from the shows early development. Do you really need it spelled out for you on screen? I knew exactly what they meant by 25 months after. What the hell did you think they meant? There's only one answer to that question pertaining to this show.

In my defense, it's been a whole year since I've seen how they start the season with the "xxxx after" line using Katrina as the reference - so I forgot they did that altogether.
And like I stated, they re-capped last season and then display "25 months after" right away - made me think it was 25 months after how last season ended. I don't think it was THAT big a stretch to get it wrong.
But good for you for figuring it out right off the bat. You want a cookie to go with your much needed chill-pill?

Wow... my apologies for offending you with my stupidity.

And BTW none of us has seen the show in a year because it hasn't been on for a year so what kind of weak ass excuse is that.

Wow. Anyway, good show. I had a good laugh at how proud the Chief was to hear his song on the radio. I was beginning to think that nothing could ever please him. And I guess Jeanette passed on the restaurant deal? It's great to have this show back, and I can't wait for the next episode.

A couple of nitpicks...can we get more of a song played, not just a few lines. That is frustrating. Also, they bring in Frogman Henry and he doesn't even attempt a song. What a waste of talent. Then again I'd watch the show if it were all NOLA musicians and no story line. I love that stuff.

Treme -- Season 3 -- Sundays on HBO

I don't keep up with Treme, and I know it's not one of the more popular HBO titles. But since it's so close to the end of the series, it should get at least 1 thread for anyone who cares.
So here you go, post away.
Tonight is episode 5 of 10
A visit from Annie's parents at Christmas coincides with news of her record deal, but it takes more than that to sell her mother on her new musical direction. Meanwhile, a protest of the proposed demolition of public housing erupts in violence, but Desiree is helpless in the face of a personal loss; run-ins with the police are becoming increasingly frequent for the Bernettes; and Albert's condition is finally revealed to the rest of his family.

And I'm basically a useless fan because I've seen every episode, and I record it every week, but I save the episodes to marathon later so I don't have anything to add on a weekly basis. Love the show, though.
Just to be clear, though, this season isn't the end of the series. There's a shortened Season 4.

It is a great show. Tho admittedly I tune in for the music. I just wish they'd play full sets. Sugar Boy Crawford died last month but I was able to download a lot of his music from YouTube.
I guess you could say I go there for the music but stay for the show.

I liked the first two seasons. But honestly, sometimes it can get PAINFULLY slow. Gonna marathon the final two seasons on dvd.

It's been moving along a lot slower this season than last - and that's saying something.
There's really not much plot/story going on. They could easily condense each season into 6 episodes by removing the filler. I get that the music is important, and as much as I like it - I watch a show for the plot/characters... I can listen to the music by other means.
I get that every year the Chief will work on his costume, we don't need it to take up time from the show every season though.
Chef is cooking in her own restaurant... then cooks in NY... now cooking back in New Orleans. Following her career is pretty dull.
Nelson tried to get his greedy paws in last season and was denied. He's trying again this season and may be denied again. Nothing really happening there.
Annie has a record deal... but all that's happening really is we get to see her play music.
LaDonna can't stand her Bro-in-law and especially his wife... who cares?
NOPD is corrupt... been there, done that.
Young reporter guy is a really bad actor.
Davis is only around to teach the viewers about NO history.
Hopefully something more meaningful starts happening soon, or I'm going to be watching the rest of the series in fast playback speed to save time.

See to me this show is so great because I could care less if there is a lot or not. The characters are some of the best on tv. I can sit watch them for hours whether iris DJ Davis being a loveable, bumbling idiot, or " cool Lester smooth" being cool Big chief smooth.

FYI,
For anyone who cares. HBO officially greenlit the final season. It's only 5 episodes. They start filming next month.

For me there was a lot of intrigue as the show focused on NO a few months after the storm. At this point however, it's been a couple of years and the original premise has lost its charm for me. I think that a shortened 4th season to tie up loose ends is good.

Re: Treme -- Season 3 -- Sundays on HBO
Just finished up the season. I think we got some clues about the fifth season towards the end. With the FBI guy mentioning the election, and the shot of Obama accepting the nomination I think that may play a factor. Also, there is obviously the Saints Super Bowl run at the time the fifth season will be taking place.
While there is an understandably limited audience for this show, I think it's terrific, and I'm glad to see Simon get a final five episodes to "complete his vision". I'm also curious about what he's doing next. Clearly by giving him the Corner, five seasons for the Wire, Generation Kill, and now 4 seasons of Treme in spite of the ratings, HBO has placed themselves in the David Simon business.

Treme (HBO) -- The Final Season Thread

New Orleans, 38 months after Hurricane Katrina: Barack Obama has just been elected to the White House, giving this battered, majority-black city reason for optimism. Yet for every entrenched resident who hopes to improve his or her lot - or just return to a sense of pre-Katrina normalcy - others are intent on capitalizing on the city's vulnerability and suffocating its culture. Created by David Simon (HBO's "The Wire," "Generation Kill" and "The Corner") and Eric Overmyer ("St. Elsewhere," "Homicide: Life on the Street" and HBO's "The Wire"), the Peabody Award-winning drama series TREME returns for its five-episode conclusion SUNDAY, DEC. 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Beginning in Nov. 2008 and culminating at Mardi Gras 2009, the new season revisits the musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians and other familiar New Orleanians who continue to rebuild their lives, their homes and their culture in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane that caused the near-death of an American city.
Synopsis for "Yes We Can Can"
New Orleans celebrates the election of Barack Obama; Desautel opens her own Bywater restaurant; LaDonna rebuilds Gigi's bar; school band director Batiste gets invested in his students' lives.
Teleplay by David Simon; story by David Simon & Eric Overmyer & George Pelecanos; directed by Anthony Hemingway.
5 episode final season. This was lucky to even get these last 5 episodes.
This show never had a must see TV factor for this forum.
