Ah, I didn't know that.

So it's not free but, yeah, each pitch is like a 10 minute infomercial on prime time network tv; the value of that is immense and in most cases well worth the 2% or whatever.
Thanks for pointing that out. I've also kind of wondered what kind of deal Anthony Sullivan had with Discovery when he made the "Pitchman" series, which, -while being an entertaining series, -also served as an infomercial for a variety of his (and his clients') products.

Very interesting. ABC must even do better with this show then. Costs so little to produce and then even the content is "commerical time."

I want the show to give us an update on a shark deal that went bad or was a bust.

Yeah, when I want beef jerky, I go for the "healthy" stuff. Not surprised he didn't get a deal. The luggage baby carrier looked like a lawsuit nightmare.

A jar of spaghetti sauce would be better than the infomercial guy.

What was up with the real estate people this episode? The one guy was successful enough to have $2 million saved up. The blonde woman said she sold $9 million in her first year.

Just stick with the job you're good at.

She sold $9M. That doesn't mean she earned $9M. She likely earned a small fraction of that in realtor commissions. Plus I'm guessing their income tanked when the real estate market plummeted.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Yeah, $9m in sales equals out to $540,000 in comissions, but that doesn't mean its all going to her.

I saw this show for the first time last night, it's actually pretty interesting.

If I heard right (when they discussed projected earnings with one of the ladies), then this episode ( April 15th) was filmed no later than early 2010.

Then again, how was she an innovator when there was such a product in 2008?

Yeah, I know how commissions work.

Fair point, though. She didn't say what year she sold that much. It could have been during the boom years several years ago, and she struggled soon after.

Yeah, I caught that too. If I had to guess, the episodes filmed with the infomercial guy were filmed as part of the last season and held over. The only newly filmed episodes are those with Cuban or Foxworthy. It explains why they don't have one of their five regulars on most of the episodes, he didn't show up for filming of any of this season. These are just leftovers.

yep. I loved the shark tank update ... Thank you Damon John for getting Nubrella into Sharper Image stores all across the country!

Sharper Image stores closed since 2009.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Err, wtf? I didn't even think about that, but you're right. All Sharper image stores closed in 2008, two years before Shark Tank ever aired an episode! So wtf is going on? Is this all a con, entertaining to watch, but we are all being suckered if we buy these stories as being real? Because something isn't right with that Nubrella story, being placed in a store that closed two years before the show ever premiered. If they are pulling a con, you'd think they would come up with something more plausible than selling an item in a store everyone knows closed years, literally, years before the show ever aired or was filmed. Scratch "think they would", they definitively would. They wouldn't be that stupid. So what is the story here, what's going on with this update at the very least? Something doesn't smell right.

The fridge magnets were really stupid. I can't imagine that anyone would put that tacky shit in their kitchen.

Hmmmm

Huh? So not only do they update with a fake story on Sharper Image, a store that closed years before the show aired, but the company never even accepted the Shark Tank offer? Wtf? Is this all fake? Because now, it certainly seems like it is.

I had that thought in the back of my mind as a possible, although highly unlikely, explanation. Until it's been announced that he freaking rejected the Sharks offer in the end. So how on earth does that jibe? Obviously that update was 100% fabricated.

Sharper Image is still around as a brand, they just don't own their own store fronts anymore. You can still buy the same overpriced ionic air filter that you could 5 years ago.

Re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread

Didn't they actually refer to the Sharper Image catalogue business for that idea?

The nubrella looks unbelievably stupid.
