Captain Ice Cream.
The caffienator tester was interesting.
The legal coffee people were just flat out weird.

re: "Shark Tank" (ABC) - Series Thread
Anybody know if this show is coming back in the summer or is it dead? Haven't seen a new episode since February or so. It would be a shame if it's permanently axed....I really enjoyed it.
What about Dragon's Den on BBCA? Is that coming back?

There hasn't been any word on "Shark Tank", as far as I know. This is the most recent "news" I could find, and it's from last October.
As for "Dragon's Den", I don't know about the British version, which is probably what you get on BBC, but the Canadian version is a pretty big hit, so it will be back for sure.

It's funny this thread got revived because I just ordered/received one of those Coverplay baby playard covers I saw featured on the show.

I've only watched this show once. Some friends of mine were on it back in January. They were selling Grease Monkey Wipes. They were the only ones that episode that won. How often do they actually invest in any of these ideas? The other ones I saw on that episode were really bad.

I'd say they invest in about 30-40% of the pitches. Mostly Kevin and Robert. The (infomercial) guy that sits on the left hardly ever invests....I think in the dozen or so episodes I saw, he invested in 3 products (and only one of those was a solo investment).
I picked up the All-American BBQ-spice-rub that those Virginia guys pitched in one episode. They sold it at Harris Teeter. It was okay - nothing special.

So it came back for a 2nd season on Sunday, although the regular time slot is Fridays at 8.
Anyhow, the big change this season is that they dumped the telemarketing guy who rarely invested in anything and was quite boring, and replaced him with Mark Cuban. I have to admit Cuban was very good -- he mixed it up well with Kevin and Robert. And he totally stole that one deal away from Barbara.
Very entertaining episode. The collar stay invention was pretty cool, but that guy was a total douche.
I don't blame the wine guy from walking away from Kevin's offer. But man, he was sweating up a storm.
I loved Kevin's jealously at how those child-song-dance-whatever ladies were able to fleece people.
So glad to have this show back. Probably my favorite 'reality' show.

"In addition to the five original sharks the show will have a special guest shark for three episodes in Season 2."
So I assume that the infomercial guy will be back for most of the episodes.
It also says this is a 10-episode season.

I'm glad it's not staying on Sunday, it was giving me too many schedule conflicts in that time slot.
Cuban was an interesting addition to the line-up for sure.. Don't really get the Jeff Foxworthy thing, but I'll go in with an open mind.

Thanks for the threadbump, Red Dog. I didn't know this show was back.
Mark Cuban looks to be an improvement over the telemarketing guy. I liked how he swiped the kid's song-and-dance business.

I was surprised to see this was back as I thought the ratings weren't great last season and I hadn't seen any promotion for it, but I'm glad to see it return.

Yeah - I didn't see any promotion either, although I watch very few ABC shows and blow through commercials. The only reason I knew about it was seeing it in the spring premiere date thread.

Shark Tank -- The 2nd Season Thread -- Fridays on ABC

By djariya at 2011-03-25
"SHARK TANK" RETURNS FOR SEASON TWO IN A SNEAK PREVIEW, SUNDAY, MARCH 20
High Tech Billionaire Mark Cuban and Comedian/Self-Made Businessman Jeff Foxworthy Join Panel as Guest Sharks
Innovative Entrepreneurs Include a Sister Duo Who Have Their Own Shark-Like Tendencies, a Chef with Seafood Products Designed to Whet the Sharks' Appetites, and a Season One Follow-up from the Maker of the Teaching Tool Known as "Classroom Jams"
ABC will air a special sneak preview episode of Season Two of its hit reality series, "Shark Tank," SUNDAY, MARCH 20 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET). During its first season, the investors known as Sharks offered over $10 million of their own money in investment deals to bankroll a creative array of innovative entrepreneurs. Season Two of "Shark Tank" will feature two guest Sharks: high tech billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban and successful comedian and self-made businessman Jeff Foxworthy. They jump into the Tank with the other Sharks to appear separately in the show's nine episodes. "Shark Tank" will air in its regular time slot beginning Friday, March 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).
In the preview, "Episode 205," the Sharks are stunned to discover the shark-like exploits of a sweet-faced sister duo with a children's dance company; a chef from Tennessee hopes to whet the Sharks' appetites with his delectable seafood products; and a winemaker from Oregon believes he has a game-changing new product that will revolutionize the wine industry. Also, an entrepreneur with a line of men's accessories has his hopes set on partnering with Daymond John - but his big mouth infuriates this Shark and could jeopardize the entire deal.
Last season the Sharks, using their expertise and contacts, along with their own money, made investment commitments totaling an incredible $5 million, and viewers will have the opportunity to see how those investments turned out in follow-up stories this season. In the Special Preview, there will be a follow up from Season One entrepreneur Mark Furigay. All five Sharks invested $250,000 of their own money into his unique business proposition, a DVD collection he calls Classroom Jams -- a teaching tool that turns kids on to literacy and learning.
The Shark investors who appear throughout Season Two are Mark Cuban, Jeff Foxworthy, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, infomercial industry pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology innovator Robert Herjavec, fashion icon Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O'Leary. The Sharks in "Episode 205" are Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O'Leary.

Sorry that other thread with the misspelled "Tueasday" was driving me crazy. This sounds like an interesting show. I'll try it on Hulu.

Re: Shark Tank -- The 2nd Season Thread -- Fridays on ABC
I was always hoping they'd eventually show a what-they're-doing-now success story with someone who got rejected by the Sharks.
The toy business looked very good.
at them leaving Robert out in the cold.
Wake'n Bacon.
This probably would have been better to pitch when the infomercial Shark was there, although I doubt he would have bit.
Holy shit....who would've thought nasal screens would be such a lucrative business. Great stuff....a $4M offer?!
A Shark Tank record.

Re: Shark Tank -- The 2nd Season Thread -- Fridays on ABC
I just caught the first two episodes of the season on hulu. I didn't see the potential for the nasal covers until he mentioned the Arab countries that have already placed orders. It would have been tough to pass on $4 million, but I think he made the right decision. If those become popular in places like Mexico City or Beijing, it really could become a billion dollar business.
If you missed the episode that aired last Sunday it's worth watching online just for the ladies that started the toddler dance business. I can see the two of them making a lot of money, and a lot of housewives throwing away their savings on a worthless franchise.

They didn't seem interested in the nose blocker thing until he whipped out the million dollar order. They probably figured a couple more bulk orders like that and they'd immediately recoup their investment and from there it'd be mass profit.

I like the show, but I wish the producers wouldn't waste the sharks' and viewers' time with people whose ideas are not a proven success. Sure, some of the ideas are cool, but the sharks made it clear in Season 1 that they're pretty much only interested in ideas that already have a lot of sales or orders. They're usually not interested in developing concepts, so long-time viewers can generally guess that none of the sharks will bite at those.

One goofy idea per episode is fine but last season there'd be multiple awful ideas per episode. I liked this past episode with the one stupid idea (bacon cooking alarm clock) and three good to great ideas. It also helps that they added Mark Cuban, who gets deals done and is less ridiculous than the other sharks. Shame he's only around one more episode.
The alarm clock idea might've actually sold if it just emitted the sound and smell of something pleasant.
