That was one a fine hour of television. The scene between Harold and Ephram was one of the best on tv in quite some time.

I also felt the Emmy Electricity with Harold and Ephram's scene. That scene was just so right in the way Harold grokked the extent of Ephram's talent, being able to grasp the musical nuances that Ephram's gift allows him to handle musical details on a totally different level than normal folks.
Andy can be such a child sometimes, it was downright painful to watch him try to sabotage Ephram's trip to Colorado A&M.
Irv and Edna are headed in different directions as Irv gets fired, and wants to slow down to a life of leisure, while Edna must keep herself busy, else she knows not what to do with herself.
Andy gets a glimpse of who the stroke victim he's working on was by watching videos of him supplied by his wife (Anne Heche). Glad to see the wife take a stand against Andy insistence on music as therapy and not get railroaded by Andy's "Doctor knows best" attitude.
Harold does his darnedest to get Amy to apply to Princeton, while Amy is steadfast in only considering colleges close to New York, so her choices are located around the New York and Boston areas. Harold even asks Ephram to convince Amy to at least apply to Princeton to keep her options open. Amy doesn't acquiesce to Ephram's request, but Ephram takes matters in his own hands, and send in the application for her, even writing the essay, one that referenced a poem that Harold mentioned during his visit with Ephram.

This episode just felt so "right". I have always enjoyed Harold and his conversation with Ephram is just one of the many reasons why.
So sorry to see Irv and Edna butt heads over "phase three". I was pleased that Irv would compromise but was not suprised to see that Edna would not. How long will Irv stay and will he really just be gone one morning without saying goodbye?
I wonder how Amy will react when she is accepted at Princeton on the basis of Ephram's essay?
Good episode.

I like the fact that Harold handled that differently than I expected. I thought this would be the episode where Ephram finds out about Madison. I figured that Amy would either overhear a conversation between Harold and Rose, or Harold would pressure Andy into telling Ephram because he doesn't want his daughter throwing away her dreams to chase after someone who has fathered a child and doesn't even know it yet.
I guess Irv really has retired. For awhile, there was no narrator. Then Ephram took the job for a night.

I was glad the Irv/Edna storyline went somewhere different than I expected. When they first showed them happily making plans for "phase 3" I thought for sure they would kill off Irv the night before they left on their adventure. Too bad they can't agree on what they want to do. I don't understand though, if Irv just wants to take it easy, can't he do so while Edna works? Seems like he could rest anywhere.
Andy was such a dick on the college tour. Why did he even go? His immaturity reminded me of Lorelei Gilmore with her parents, except without the jokes.
Amy looked lovely during this episode.

I wanted to murder Andy during the tour. What a dick. I guess his brilliance in the surgical field made him miss out on a lot of maturity. Ephram had every right to punch him out right then and there. I like how Ephram told Andy that all he wanted for him was to be a magazine cover. Andy does want the world for Ephram but some of that is a bit selfish on his part. If Ephram just up and decided that he wanted to be something a little less stellar than a concert pianist he would be all grrr arg!

David Eigenberg (Sex and the City) was the College Recruiter. Once he was on screen I pointed out to my wife that he was the Missing Person on Without a Trace a few weeks ago, the one where the guy thought he was abducted by aliens.
Kudos to everyone this episode.
Pass some Emmy love this way next year.

Andy is quite the hypocrite. When Amy came to him last year for protection, he didn't run off to talk to Dr Brown about it (if memory serves correct). When Dr Newbie came to talk to him about another patient, perhaps he should have stopped him. I know he tried, but his resistance fell real quick when he learned the patient was a minor. Do doctors have a right to violate the confidentiality of a patient if it's a minor? And how much of a minor could Ephram be? Wasn't he 17 last season?

Pretty good character-driven episode.
Ephram does the right thing in getting tested for STDs, and Jake lets that tidbit out of the bag when he consults Andy about protocol for testing underaged teens for STDs.
Andy and Harold have a blustery time about talking about the topic of sex with Ephram and Amy respectively.
Ephram and Amy talk about their fathers' attempts to get them to not have sex. Amy's bothered by Ephram's STD test because he didn't tell her he was doing it until after the fact.
Amy confronts Edna about blabbing Ephram's test to Andy and Harold, and Edna gets to Amy to talk about her sexual insecurities she has considering Madison was older, prettier, and more sexually experienced. Edna reins in Amy's insecurities, and utters those 6 scary words: "The first time Irv and I...." that pretty much put the kibosh of sex for the time being in Amy's mind.
Edna tears Jake a new one for letting the cat out of the bag w/r/t patient confidentiality.
Amy helps Hannah with contacts to break her out of her shell. Hannah's still hung up on Bright. Hannah goes to where Bright works, a diner, and pretends to want to apply for a job. Bright invites her to see a movie that night. Later that night, Hannah actually makes a move on Bright, but he's unprepared for her advances, and he doesn't handle it well.
Nina sets up a date with Andy, but when she arrives, Andy and Ephram have a blow-up on the topic of sex, and that kills the night for Nina, who finds out that Andy still considers her just a friend while she wants to be more than friends with Andy.
Later, Nina sees Hannah crying, and it's because of what happened between her and Bright. Nina tells Hannah that she's brave for taking a chance (considering Nina's been a scared-y cat with her feelings towards Andy).
Amy gives Bright a pep talk about not pushing away the people that care about him, and while it's not too late to salvage some friendships, the doors of opportunity are running out for him.
Bright send over a peace offering to Hannah and an apology for being such a putz (because of his situation is less than ideal, he's in limbo, and isn't prepared to get involved with anyone at this time.)
Ephram and Amy go see "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (nice selection!) and then talk about their feelings toward one another. Ephram gives Amy the news of a clean bill of health and also gives Amy a necklace with a gold ring, which Amy likes a lot. Amy reveals that she's on the pill, and got on the pill while she was dating Tommy. Ephram was a little miffed by it, but in a jovial mood as they walked home.
Ephram and Amy are probably too mature in their views towards their relationship and sex, but I'll roll with it.
Andy and Harold's attempts to keep their kids from bumping uglies will undoubtedly prove futile, but eventually Andy will have to tell Ephram about Madison's pregnancy, and that's just going to detonate a bomb that could decimate Ephram and Amy's relationship if Ephram goes looking for Madison and possibly his child.

Dr. Jake wasn't good at hiding the patient identity from Andy, so Jake didn't break confidentiality, per se, but gave away too many clues to Andy.
Most high school seniors are 17 in the fall, so Ephram is probably 17. I thought he was 15 in season 1, which was 2 years ago.
BTW, Amy and her tight shirts were a welcomed sight, plus I liked her hair at the end of the episode, letting her hair down with the twirls. Mmmm...

Emily Van Camp continues to look great this season - I think she looks better w/ her hair up (by bandana, etc.).
Harold was hilarious yet again. I loved his sound-proof room/Motel 6 comment.
And Dr. Jake finally got a decent line in when Edna told him how Ephram dating Amy relates back to her. "It's like a Greek drama."
Another good ep - pretty tough to follow last week's, but they did a damn good job.

I love this show so much. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Yes, B.A., Emily Van Camp does look great this season. She has an almost classic look about her.
The Ephram/Amy relationship continues to be fun to watch. I totally buy that those two are in love - which is a credit to Emily and Gregory's acting chops. Even though they "over talk" & come off too grown up sometimes, they have a credibility that the Dawson's Creek kids never had IMHO.
Dr. Jake feels really tacked on to me. Hannah on the other hand is quite cute and I can't help but feel bad for her. It's gotta be wierd for her being compared to Ephram all the time.
The sex talks were great. From the warming Andy/Ephram scene to the comedy that was Amy/Harold.
Edna rules.
I kind of fell out of this show last season due to scheduling issues. Was last season quality as well? on par with this season?

Good episode.
My wife and I were laughing during the entire 'tea party' scene when Harold's advice back fired and got Amy thinking more serious about having sex with Ephram... only Tom Amendes could pull off that 'Scone?' line after his daughter's epiphany.
We really should start an Emmy Campaign for that man.
But the most interesting thing I saw last night was taht Amy was all bothered by Ephram bringing up Madison again, that it was funny to see Ephram's reaction that she was still on the pill... and that she did it for Tommy. They got a couple of good lobs at each other last night.
By the way, we have to wait for two weeks for another episode... due to the WB showing Part II of The Fellowship of the Ring next Monday.

Another reason that E.V.C. looks so good this season is that they didn't make too much of an effort w/ her appearance last year due to her depression following Colin's death. She just had a plain Jane look most of the season.

Yes, Emily was absolutely stunning at the end of the episode while they were walking home from the movies. The TiVo replay button got some use there.
I just started watching this show halfway through last season, but have since added season 1 to my Netflix queue. I watched the entire 1st disc (4 ep.) in one sitting Sunday.
Such a great show.

Another strong ep. This year the show seems to be affecting me a little more, probably because I can relate to a lot of the things that are being said on the show lately.
I guess I can kind of identify with Nina and her situation and it is encouraging for me to see someone else going through a dilemma like that one: When do you tell a friend that you want to be more or do you even say anything at all? Tough situation to be in. And like Nina, I have been keeping my mouth shut, which is probably why I'm rooting for her as well.

Another good piece of acting by Treat Williams was when Ephram was confronting Andy about why Andy is so adamant about Ephram and Amy not engaging in sex, you could see in his face the weight of carrying around the secret of Madison's pregnancy, and then he had to scramble for some other plausible excuse.

In the "uh-oh" department:
"dr. vegas" has been shelved, so Sarah Lancaster's schedule just got freed up, which leaves the door wide open for a Madison reappearance...

When is Andy ever going to realize Nina wants more than friendship? She could not have been more obvious in this last episode. Another great show by a great cast and great writers....looking forward to getting Season 1 on dvd when it ships with my other movies later this month. I have watched this from day one on the tube and have enjoyed every episode.

Andy's amazingly thick when it comes to interpersonal relationships even though he's a phenomenal brain surgeon. Hell, he let his first-born grow up 15 years before he had a decent relationship with Ephram.
