Wow! I can't believe that WAB beat Studio 60! That makes me sad...I am still wondering why people aren't watching Studio 60? I didn't think that WAB would make such an impact on viewership...very surprising ratings IMO.

What About Brian beating S60 is truly baffling, must be the Bachelor lead-in. That show is so dull, I figured it would get cancelled pretty quick even though it was barely renewed.

While I'm not that shocked at S60's slide off the charts, I am surprised at ER's ability to get so many viewers after a gazillion seasons.

Somehow John Stamos will get all the accolades for ER's ratings resurgence, but it's been a good start to the season so far.

John Stamos has nothing to do with the viewership in ER this year... its because the writers are actually doing something they havn't done in 4 years - writting stuff thats interesting to watch!

Here's the problem: a large percentage of the 18-45 adult viewership who have cable TV access are watching the ESPN Monday Night Football telecast, which has seriously hurt many shows on Monday night, especially in the Eastern and Central time zones.

I thought people might stop using MNF as an excuse for poor ratings when it went to ESPN, but I guess not.

OK, how long until NBC pulls the plug on Friday Night Lights and Studio 60?

VM actually improved in ratings by 1 point and about 200,000 viewers from last week, which is a good sign.

I hope NBC is patient enough to see how FNL does without a competing real major sporting event against it; there should be a sizeable common audience there.

Definitely a good sign. I'm happy to see that.

Studio 60 on the other hand... yikes:

Total viewers:
9/18 - 13.41 million
9/25 - 10.83 million
10/2 - 9.05 million
10/9 - 8.76 million
10/16 - 7.76 million

By the end of the season, it'll just be me and das watching. I'm not able to backseat program manage this, becuase I honestly don't see how they've managed to lose about 45% of their audience since the premiere. But this show *must* be moved to a new night. This clearly ain't working.

Studio 60 is getting sacked by Friday Night Lights. At least temporarily.

Sources confirm that NBC is handing Studio 60's Monday/10 pm time-slot over to FNL on Oct. 30 for what I'm told is a one-night experiment. But, let's face it, if FNL performs better than Studio 60 — and that bar has been set pretty darn low — we may be looking at the birth of a Monday night football franchise on NBC.

All told, this is a great vote of confidence for FNL and an ominous bit of foreshadowing for Aaron Sorkin's struggling drama.
But it was scheduled to be a repeat anyway

Jesus - how incredibly stupid. Who is the NBC genius that decided to put a show based on football opposite MNF?

I like FNL more than S60, so I guess I have to hope for it to improve on S60's numbers.

Would Friday Night Lights really do better when it's up against an NFL game?

How fucking stupid is that move? Oh well, at least I can assume that FNL will tank there too... and NBC may start blaming the timeslot rather than the shows.

I thought NBC was going to put Battlestar Gallactica after Heros on Monday nights because they figued both shows have similar fan bases.

According to Ausiello at TVGuide, there is no substance to the BSG rumors.

All this aside I'd say the number one reason for the boost is that its #1 competitor Without a Trace moved to Sunday. Shark is doing well with the CSI lead-in but not quite what WaT was doing there.

Wow, so much for the CW's "ONE TREE HILL is gaining viewership" promotion from last week, since the series lost 300,000 viewers (which are very much needed when your total is 2.95 million)... to bad though cause I've always enjoyed the show and the creator's ideas for season five sound really interesting (instead of showing the 'kids' first year of college, he wants to fast-forward the series 6 years and show them at like 24/25 and use like 'flashbacks' to document their college experience and futures)...
