Early Ratings (full to come later)

"Lost" (Season Premiere) (ABC) 12.3/18
"The Nine" (Series Premiere) (ABC) 9.1/15

Lost is down 18% from last year's premiere (15.0/21). Not good especially since it'll be going on an extended hiatus with a Taye Diggs drama in its place for 3 months.

JJ better start making contigency plans just in case Lost doesnt get 4-5 years, and is done after this year.

A 3.4 rating? Didn't Everwood used to get at least that? And now that the re-run are on ABC Family I am sure there would be even more people watching than last year.
This is about par with 'everwoods' ratings last season... but honestly I believe that EVERWOOD could have found growth - whereas many people said goodbye to 7TH HEAVEN years before last season's finale...

Lost still has pretty good numbers considering... and also Alias survived 5 years, eventhough almost right from the beginning, they had only about 2/3s of the ratings lost is still getting....

In other words - I wouldn't be worried for awhile... And lets also not forget that it is one of ABC's three signature series

Yes, I would think Lost could fall considerably more and still be guaranteed a 5-year run by ABC...it's pretty much the network's "flagship" show. I'm not sure the producers want to go beyond 5 years anyway, so I'm thinking fans don't need to worry about Lost coming to a "proper conclusion".

I never watched Everwood but I felt the fans pain after they did something simular with Angel.
Why they based 7th Heavens renewal on the ratings of the finale when more people were going to watch that is upsurd.

As for Lost, how many people can they expect to tune in with as complicated and dragged out as it has been. Most viewer's attention spans are geared towards reality shows. I definitely think they should set Lost up with a 5 year plan and shoot towards that.

Why so many people are watching Desperate Houewives after the fall in quality is beyond me.

THanks. That really shows how a show does against its competitors in the time slot.

Plus Lost does a great business with DVD sales and ITunes episode downloads. They can still make a lot of revenue off that show in addition to ad sales.

Ahhhh okay.

Well the only reason I say what I did was because Lost possibly costs more to produce the show, than any other show out there. Its on location in hawaii, its got to cost alot right?

I'm not sure. It might be cheaper than LA if they are non-union.

Damn - Friday Night Lights got crushed, even in 18-49. Having a sporting event on FOX opposite it couldn't have helped.

Damm, the ratings do not look good for Veronica Mars. Even more troubling is that as per the Futon Critic ""Veronica's" retention of its "Gilmore" lead-in was a troubling 63.63% in households and 70% in adults 18-49."

This is network TV after all where Networks keep shows on long after there expiration date and milk them for everything they are worth.
The dancing with the stars crap is really getting under my skin too.
Why do people watch stuff like that and American Idol and Survivor and Big Brother?? I just dont get it?

For being it's 3rd episode to Lost's premiere, Criminal Minds did pretty well.

It would be better served on a different night....the show is just fucking fantastic though!

This one took a little longer as they've now split it by half-hour, which means I have to average them out for the full hour... Therefore, just to save time, I'm not including the 18-49 demo.

Note:
= Oregon blows yet another big game... Not to say Cal isn't any good, just disappointing.

That goes into effect this week I believe (with the comedies airing tonight, and 7TH HEAVEN/RUNAWAY starting back up on Sunday)... kinda weird to think this is the first time in 7TH HEAVEN'S 11 year history that the show is airing Monday's at 8pm... maybe its a sign that the show needs to exit...

Here's the list of cancelled shows or ones on "hiatus":
- Happy Hour
- Kidnapped (with eps being burned off on Saturdays)
- Smith

Anyone think Studio 60 will get cancelled? It continues to lose viewers every week... On the flip side of things, Heroes got renewed for the full season.
