I really don't like Charlie any more. And I haven't liked him in a while, so needless to say, this wasn't one of my fave episodes. While I did feel sorry for Charlie getting shit on in his past, I don't have any sympathy for him in the present.
As for the heroin, more than anything I'm surprised that no one has given it to Jack for the reasons that an earlier poster made. He could probably use it if anyone is seriously hurt, which will probably happen if he trains that army he was talking about the previous ep.
I also agree with everyone that this Charlie storyline better get some serious development and explanation in the next couple eps. It was frustrating that we really got no hint as to why this has started happening to him. I did think that he was maybe going to be contacted by one of the Others this ep. It seems like that could become a real possibility. I'm just hoping the show doesn't go on the religious angle too strong. I can take a little bit of that, but I don't want it to become a main focus.

My first instict with Charlie is that he's losing his shit, going batshit nuts. Kidnapping the baby, starting a fire that threatened the camp, obsessed with baptism.
Makes me wonder if he isn't going crazy like Danielle claimed the rest of her team did.
Maybe Charlie's just the first one to catch whatever it is. (Also possible that Ethan did something to him; he also had Claire. Hmm...)

I'm getting sick of the complaints that no one is acting like they did in season one. 50+ strangers who survived a plane crash are now stranded on a freaky ass island where clouds of smoke and "others" are after them. Yeah, I'm sure I'd keep it together and behave like a normal member of society too.
They're going somewhere with Charlie. He's getting pushed out of the group. It'll pay off.

I also got the impression this episode is much more important for what it's setting up in the future rather than what actually happened in the episode. Other than that, zzzzzzzz.

Where does Hurley know LIbby from? Did she appear on his episode?

The biggest thing that bugged me last night was that no one went to Charlie to see what was up after he 'woke up' on the beach with the baby. Off the top of my head, Jack, Kate, Hurley and Locke have all shown in the past that they've bonded with him to some degree and care about him. Seems like someone would've pulled him aside and tried to figure out what in the hell was going on. Instead, they pretty much all turn on him or ignore him from the get-go.
I hate to say it, but I'm starting to dislike Locke. Feels like he's gone from being a fatherly protective badass to an asshole who contradicts himself and doesn't give a shit about anyone except Claire and the baby. And who knows whether he actually cares about them or just has it in his head that the baby's important to the island.
It also seems silly and somewhat unbelievable that they completely abandoned Michael's storyline for now. It's not that surprising, considering they did the same thing when Claire was taken last year, but it's annoying nonetheless. Given Jack's attitude, I'd think he'd be back, trying to organize a group with Ana Lucia, Eko, Sayid, Locke, Sawyer, Kate and whomever else, to grab new guns and head back into the mountains. Instead he's off building a new shelter and flirting with Ana Lucia.

What really annoys me is how they are dragging out Charlie's addiction and those statues. There have been 2 or 3 episodes now centered around Charlie trying to decide whether to quit and give up the heroine or not - and he STILL hasn't made a final decision, and the heroine is still in play. I felt more sympathetic for Charlie this episode than any other, but he's gotta make a decision and be done with it - I still think he's got an itch to use again in the back of his mind.

Worst episode of the season; Charlie has become the Lisa Simpson of Lost in that I dread Charlie-centric episodes.
If they ever get rescued, the first thing any of them would say upon reaching civilization would be "Gas costs how much?!"

Locke seems to be changing too something much less "innocent".

I agree.
I also can't believe all those that think he should have kicked heroin in 50 or so days. Charlie is no Jack Bauer. How often do you hear of rock stars, which Charlie is, or actors who repeatedly are on and off drugs? Only when they are caught do we hear about it, so I'm sure it happens even more often then that. He has/had heroin in his possession, been pushed out of his only family, Claire & Aaron, not to mention just about out of the big group from the first season since they are all involved in the hatch. I can imagine what a struggle it is to not use.
I'm still on the fence about Locke kicking his ass. Sure, something needed to happen and it was the only way to get through to Charlie, BUT that is because no one really sat down to see what was going on with Charlie, or listened when he wanted to explain his actions. They all were going on assumptions, which is contradictory to all their characters.
Despite the silly dialog between Ana & Jack, it does appear they are trying to soften her character up and make her likable.
I liked the Hurly & Sawyer interaction as well as his chemistry, or lack there of, with Libby.

Not to jump on the hater bandwagon, but I'm done with this show. We waited four weeks for 2 episodes where nothing happened (although I'm sure that comment is debated well in this thread) and no there are gonna be reruns next week. Ugh, go-go DVD.

I'm glad Locke broke form (or we are seeing a gradual change in him) when he popped Charlie in the head a few times. Charlie deserved it - he was told to stop several times and didn't do so. It was completely justified, imo.
I would have saved the heroin so Jack could use its medicinal properties, but we'll find out sooner or later if that is Locke's intention.
I realize Charlie's brother was trying to clean himself up and save his family, but Charlie needs to kick his ass the minute he gets off of the island.

Charlie's Dream Sequence
Don't know if it was just me, but did anyone notice that while Charlie had the dream of his mother and Claire were dressed as the saints, that you could hear like a prop plane in the background and then the sound of a crash? You could almost see the camera shake slightly too. I think it happened right before the dove flew out. I could have SWORN I heard that, but stupid me erased it from my Tivo before I could go back and review it. If anyone has it Tivo'd still, can you check?

Another possible use for the drugs would be if they captured one of the others they could use the drugs for interrogation. I think it was a good decision to keep the drugs.
I can't really fault Locke for hitting Charlie, but I sure as hell would have hit Locke back if I was charlie, even if he had the jump on me and I was smaller like Charlie.
