'The Wire' goes up early
07/22/2006
"The Wire" is scheduled to begin its fourth season on HBO Sunday, Sept. 10. But you may be able to see it six days before that.
Starting Sept. 4, and continuing throughout the show's run, the network will post episodes of "The Wire" to its HBO On Demand service six days before they air in their regular Sunday-night slot. The move is one of several schedule tweaks HBO is making to its fall schedule; episodes of the returning "Def Comedy Jam" will also debut on HBO On Demand before they air on the linear channel, and the network has also moved its movie premieres from Saturday to Sunday.
"We decided to experiment with our schedule, so we can learn more about how our viewers prefer to watch our programming," says Dave Baldwin, who oversees program planning at HBO.
The switch of movie premieres from Saturday to Sunday will be a temporary one. In January, when "Rome" rejoins the schedule, original series will reclaim the 8 p.m. time slot.

All right, I've got a quick question for you guys. I've been watching season 3 as its been re-airing on HBO. They showed the season finale on Sunday, but my DVR recording ended before the show was finished.
The last thing that I saw was Avon in court looking for his sister, then turning and seeing Marlo there. He mouths Marlo's name and then my recording ends. Can someone please fill me in on the last moments?
I know that the season is out on DVD, but I'd rather not Netflix the last disc just to see the last minute or two of the last ep (unless it is really good and highly recommended). Thanks for the help.

Didn't they show a quick clip of McNaulty back in uniform w/ the Western with a grin from ear to ear?

The final scene of the episode is of Colvin at the remains of Hamsterdam, while Bubbles and his new protege start looting for scrap metal. Bubs and Colvin exchange brief words about how it was a good place for dope fiends, but it had it's faults (Bubs was probably thinking about the death of his friend Johnny). Bubs and his friend leave, with Colvin remaining before walking away, sulking. Fade to black.

Thanks everyone for the help. I wish I could have heard that final conversation between Colvin and Bubs. I might end up renting the final disc after all. I can't wait for the new season to start.

But it was good. Bubs tells him that there was no hassle from the cops, no hassle from the slingers/bangers. Bunny says something to the affect of So it was a good thing? and Bubs relies that it was different. A very nice little scene, especially if you are a Bubbles fan like me.

The Wire Season 4 Premiere "Boys of Summer" 9/10/06 (Available now on Demand)

Spoiler:
All the new episodes of The Wire will be available on Demand on the Monday before they debut on HBO.
I thought this was a great opener. Did a good job of catching the viewer up on what the characters had been doing since the last episode. I'm looking forward to another great season of the best show on TV.

wow, i nearly forgot that it was going to be OnDemand today. I am going to go watch it right now!
I just subscribed to HBO for the first time in my life a few weeks ago (got a DVR too) so I could watch Season 4 of The Wire without having to wait for the dvds. Until now I have just been buying all the HBO dramas on dvd (and some of the comedies).

Yup, Yup. I have heard a few areas haven't gotten it yet. Also, it wouldn't be under "The Wire Reup", but instead just "The Wire".

DVD's have spoiled me. I watched the premier on OnDemand and I can't wait for the rest of the season. I want immediate gradification! I can see how the various story lines weave together around the school.
Omar has new competition for the title of "Most Dangerious". Omar allowed personal feelings to get in the way. With Chris it's all business. Absolutely cold blooded.

I have to say this show is STILL one of my favorites on television right now. At least we (people with onDemand) get the Episodes a week ahead of time
. Cant wait to see how this season is goign to turn out. As for the DVDs Il still get em so that in the future when it isnt available on on demand I can still wathc it much like Carnivale (if HBO borught that back Id be REALLY happy)
Cant say much bad about the new season so far I liked the 1st episode even though it was kind of "slow" I didnt find myself looking to see what time it ws and wanted mroe when it was over.....Some people though may not like the new "angle" or storyline that the show is taking right now.

I know at least in my area there are a lot of people who will just watcvh an episode and cancel the service the next day.......its a lot of work (I Guess) but hey its one way of doing it...
