Agreed. The backstory seemed forced to me and I couldn't sympathize with either the mom or daughter. Not horrible but don't go out of your way to see. 2.5/5

This was my exact double feature. From a big budget spectacular to a small budget tension fest. I enjoyed both but the Shallows was more enjoyable to me.

The director did a good job at making the beach, rocks etc seem just far enough to be dangerous. There's also a seagull who's got a pretty big role, so there's that.

Saw it last night. A good, fun flick with some tension and suspense. I thought Lively was pretty good and the shark effects weren't bad at all. 3.75/5

Saw this, enjoyed this. Not as good as 1 but better than 2. The girl not being able to walk was a pretty effective way of inducing some "claustrophobia" and helplessness into the film.
