Re: The VINYL Thread!
Bullmoose is taking pre-orders on the individual Bowie remasters from the Five Years box set. So far, studio albums only, no Re:Call either. Of the masters in that box set, I can wholeheartedly recommend The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, which had an all analog remaster, and Pin-Ups. I doubt Pin-Ups had an AAA remaster, but it sounds terrific anyway.
Aladdin Sane is an absolute no go, squashed and runs way too hot. MWSTW and Hunky Dory have gotten mixed reactions, so YMMV with those.
I ordered Ziggy and Pin-Ups. I didn't buy the box set.

Are these new presses better than the originals? I have all originals un until Let's Dance except the first two which still elude me.
I see the Ryko presses from time to time in the used bin as well.

Ziggy may be better than a US first press, but not a UK first press. Pin-Ups may be on par with the best original pressings. Don't bother with the others if you have clean original pressings.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
This reissue uses that 40th mastering, so you're good. No 5.1 disc with this version, but for $20 I don't mind.
I have a MFSL copy of Ziggy but wanted the new remaster since it was an all analog transfer.

Here's the coolest shit ever! Apparently it's only limited to 500 copies in Nashville or Detroit at the TMR brock n mortar stores. I don't know what the price is either.

I picked up the yellow Jackie Brown soundtrack last night. $22 at Barnes and Noble with a free Rhino promo Start The Ear Off Right slip mat. Might go back and get the Cars and Cibo Matto next week.

I'm hearing that the Hateful Eight metal box set from Third Man (only available at the Nashville/Detroit stores) is going to sell for $250. That's unconfirmed, because the have not emailed me back. I read about it secondhand.

Re: The VINYL Thread!
So I went to my first real record store and got a major fucking haul. I did a bit of a road trip to Lubbock Texas and went to Ralph's Records and man did they have a lot of stuff. The staff was knowledgeable and hooked me up with some deals, so I highly recommend them if you find yourself in the neighborhood. I got about 30 records for $200, used and new mixed in.

Had no idea about this Rhino "Start the Ear Off Right" campaign, so it was a nice surprise to see this in my local record store yesterday:
Been wanting it for a while, and kinda gave up on finding a reasonably priced copy. I'll take a reissue.

I have that - it's worth something? Who knew? I wonder why. I see copies of Zen Arcade around for $10-15 which is a double LP and SO much better. While the Replacements were penning such influential songs like "Gary's Got a Boner", Husker Du was releasing "New Day Rising". (Yes, I have a major bias.)
Anyway, I bought the 3 LP Grateful Dead Rhino set from 1967. 6700 copies.
EDIT: Sorry Ma original is going for $50ish.

Scooped this EP up (In the Meantime) - saw Purson open up for Ghost back in October. Phenomenal occult/psychedelic band out of England.
Their lead singer/guitarist is such a babe:

Also got a copy of Buckingham Nicks. As far as I know, that's never been pressed on CD.

Looks like we're getting a nice White Zombie LP set! I'm sure it'll cost a grip, because it's Rob and he takes after Gene Simmons in the "milk your fans" department. Granted, it's a nice looking set.

Just ordered this for half the RRP. Amazing Australian singer/songwriter.
Wish I could get a hold of his first album too but it's out of print, rare, and expensive second hand.
